From the Crests of a
Turbulent Sea
event.

During the
summer of 2001 (Verdantine PY 12),
the Virindi forces ramped up their assault on Osteth, along with the aid
of their Tumerok allies. Nine Virindi Towers outside the capital cities of
Cragstone, Hebian-To and Zaikhal menaced from above, while bands of
Tumeroks attacked from the ground.
Armed
forces in the three capital cities began to gather to repel the invasion.
When a series of attacks on the 6 Tumerok Clans escalated into opened
portals and a direct attack on the Towers' Controller Dolls, the Virindi
were driven back.
The
Virindi Towers
Kill the Contoller Doll for the
next Tumerok Camp to spawn. There are three different
Dungeons/Towers in the three capital cities: Cragstone, Hebian-to and
Zaikhal.

Repelling the Invasion!
Gheres
Reficul of TD sent word of his first-hand experiences at the Hebian-to Tower!
You bring Hebian-To Camp Standard Bearer to a fiery end!
The dying Tumerok casts a portal to the Hebian-To Advanced Camp dungeon as it falls!
(Restricted to Levels 12-25.)
"The dungeon was REAL bad.... filled with
High Priests, Priests, and Warriors... near the end it was Stalkers and
Innocuous Dolls....
In the Tower itself were 2 Fighters and a Hebian-To Control Doll."
A second account from Hussein of TD:
Heya
Here are the belated screenies of my exploits. :)
Unfortunately I didn't get that many screen shots. I would particularly have
liked to get one of the largish room with the many tumies in, but I was too busy
trying to stay alive to think about it. I also couldn't ID the controller doll,
but I could see it was lvl 35.
------
It was Patch Day!!
Expecting the usual lag and bugs, I teamed up with Silvermoon to find out what
Turbine had deemed fit to add in this patch. Soon after logging in, I went to
Mayoi to restock my components. On the way to the mage I ran into a Tumerok
Standard Bearer and a couple of his friends. Three firebolts later I searched
their corpses, but found nothing special. I proceeded to hunt down and kill a
Tumerok Major and a Tumerok Liutenant in the immediate area before going to the
mage.
After restocking we got word of a floating Virindi tower and naturally went to
inspect. Instead of my mage, I logged on my lvl 24 UA fighter, Shim Po. First we
went to Cragstone, and while we did find a tower, we didn't find anything else.
Near Hebian-to, however, we found two Tumerok fighters and a Controller Doll (lvl
35) in the floating tower. There were a few other people there as well. Slightly
east of the tower, we found a small group of Tumeroks, including a special
Standard Bearer. Upon his death, a portal spawned. The level requirements were
12-25, just as we had heard.
I immediately enter the portal, and after a slow download I stand in a dungeon.
Lag is incredible. I see my actions at least 5 seconds after I order them. A
small way down a hallway I meet my first foes; 1 Tumerok Priest and 2 Tumerok
Fighters. These I dispatch fairly easily, but I do get a little worried, since I
wear no protections other than Armor Self. In two side rooms I find and
eliminate two similar groups. Further down it escalates to Tumerok High Priest,
a Priest (or two) and a couple of Fighters. The High Priest proves to be too
much for me. In a large blast of fire, I became Shim Po Kebab.
Silvermoon and the other people are still outside waiting while I run back to
the Tower. They have organized a few more low level people to go enter the
dungeon. While they get there, I use my mage to buff Shim Po properly with lvl
VII spells. Before the last person arrives, someone jumps the gun and kills the
Tower Standard Bearer and opens the portal again. I jump in with a couple of
other people. One, then the other get disconnected or lag out, so I'm all alone
after the first two rooms.
The dungeon is fairly straightforward. In a large room there are several
Tumeroks, including a High Priest and two or more Priests. That is probably the
hardest place in the dungeon and I nearly died there to their spells. Further on
I ran into Dolls and Stalkers, but they were relatively easier to handle. At the
end, I stand before a portal leading into the Tower. I jump in, arrive in the
tower, and get disconnected right as I'm about to attack the Controller Doll.
Wheeee. I manage to log in again five minutes later and make short work of the
Doll.
And that was basically it. :)
Maggie,
thought you might like a little more info on the new towers. This is what
Kokujin, Kathos, Harvester of Sorrow, and I were able to gather:
Outside of each of the capital cities are three virindi towers, each tower is
accessible only to characters within a specific range of levels (as noted on
your site). In order to reach first tower (Advanced Tower) you must find & kill
the "Hebian-To Camp Standard Bearer" Tumerok outside the tower (usually within 1
or 2 "clicks" of it). When he dies a portal is opened into the tower dungeon.
This dungeon has more Tumeroks, along with a Doll and 3 Drudge Lurkers at the
end. Once the Doll is killed another portal opens, which leads to the inside of
the tower. Here resides the "Hebian-To Control Doll" and its 3 Tumerok Fighter
bodyguards. After killing this Doll, the forces laying siege to the capital will
retreat to defend the mid-level tower (Middle Guard Tower) and a new band of
Tumeroks will appear outside of the mid-level tower.
Here, you repeat the process, encountering much the same arrangement but with
more difficult enemies. At the end is another Control Doll and Drudge Raveners.
After killing this Doll, the forces laying siege to the capital will retreat to
defend the high-level tower (Reinforcements Tower) and a new band of Tumeroks
will appear outside of the high-level tower.
At the Reinforcements Tower you must defeat the High Tumeroks and Virindi
Servant outside to gain the portal. Then you face a series of High Tumeroks and
Tumerok Gladiators, followed by 2 Pristine Dolls and a Virindi Master. I
attempted this one solo, but could not get far due to the fast spawn inside
these towers (2-3 minute cycle). As you can see from the attached screenshot, I
had my hands full.
I'm very curious to see what happens once you defeat the final tower, or all
three towers near the capitals, but that shall have to wait until tomorrow. =)
I hope that you find this information helpful. I wish I had taken some notes,
but I'm sure others will correct me if I am inaccurate in the least.
Mitsuya (of Solclaim)
An finally, from Vangar of FF:
I noticed that you have very little info on this. It has been a mission of mine
to crack this puzzle. I have a number of screenshots showing the towers, the
inside of them and so forth. We are doing this again tonight, I found out that
the third tower takes chars of lvl 36+. If you are interested, please e-mail me
and I can zip you a bunch of rough screenshots for you to use to make a page on
this really interesting and unusual quest.
So Far I know there are 3 towers, low mid and high level. They must be completed
in order, and can be found west of Cragstone. Even is not interested in solving
this quest, they are a must see! More to come, let me know how much you want on
this.
