Love For Lockpick!
Mnemonsynes
Lockpicking quest! updated!
Sadly, however, my favorite
source for Peerless lockpicks -- the vendor inside Ashen's Tears -- was
NERFED! ;-)
New Text!
Read the accompanying text, Mnemosynes
and the Art of Lockpicking, here.
Other uses for the Intricate
Carving Tool: Have a lockpicker turn a Virindi Key into a Virindi Master
Key. Then use one of the three types of keys to open these loot
containers. Sadly, I've yet to hear of any ph4t l3w+ being obtained.
There's speculation that they might be bugged.
New Clothes!
And boy are they pretty! ;-)
Whitley the Lizard Queen models the new Sclavus Skin Helmet.
The Large Sclavus Hide came from an Ulu Sclavus.

Stan D' Andeliver of TD models
the
new spring line of fashions!
Eric the Unready shows off a cool feature of the new Scaly
Boots! They change color with your GLOVES! (sorry, not greaves, thanks
Catri!) And
they shimmer when you walk!
Angry Rooster of Thistledown and
Tyler C both wrote to me telling me that the helmet also changes its trim color
based on the color of your gloves. Totally groovy.
Small Hides for Boots can be found on Aste & Se Sclavus.
Hides for Coats are found on Essa & Sata Sclavus.
Large Hides are found on Ulu, Faisi & Chomu Sclavus.
New Weapon!
Eric the Unready wields the new Fang Mace and models the new
Sclavus Coat. (Take items -- yes, including the FANG -- to Leather
Crafter.)

Ned Cleversun reports on the
Virindi Executor
Ok. Preliminary report, Virindi Executor. They have resisted all my attempts to Imperil or vuln them. I do have 5% vitae,
however.
When I attack them with my bow, which has BD 6 and other buffs, I get 2 point
hits. For comparison, I hit Umbris Shadows, unvulned, for 35-40 points. They evade me a LOT, about 10-15 times (not percent) more than the
Umbris. The good news is that I didn't take too much damage from them, or haven't so
far. One other point: they seem to level very easily. The one I fought leveled in the midst of our battle, and he didn't put that much damage on
me.
Virindis Attack Ayan Baqur
If you wandered into Ayan on the morning of April 1, 2001, you might
have thought Turbine was playing an elaborate April Fool's joke on you.
Virindi now stand in place of all the shopkeepers! What in the world???

The evening of March 31, the
Virindi attacked! The shopkeepers high-tailed it out of town and hid deep in
the Panopticon Dungeon (59.1S, 84.6W). This dungeon is restricted to levels
32+ and it may be tied to! Looks like getting to Ayan will no longer be the
adventure it used to be.
Inside the dungeon adventurers found a
unique Virindi, Adirred the Theoretician, who cried the following message as
he was killed:
"The
Virindi's cloak almost implodes inward as it shrieks in your mind, "But
the experiment was going so well! We were so close to breaking past the
Singularity's structuralism..."
As someone
mentioned on the boards, Adirred is Derrida spelled backwards. Jacques
Derrida is a famous literary theorist and a leading deconstructionist. All
but the most stubborn scholars find his writing almost impenetrable. Plus
he's French!! ;-)
For more complete information on
the night's event, read Crossroads
of Dereth's write-up on the Virindi takeover!
You can also read the new
Virindi Ulgrim rumors here. The
charming fellow now
has a taste for Red Wine.
