Shadow Army Attacks
A mighty battle rages. The Shadows gather forces and lead the
attack on the citizens of Dereth. (Is this game cool, or what?!)

wasteland, where great magics wrought
destruction long ago, the Shadows stir and awaken. The Hand stretches forth once more...
The darkness has been checked in
the Northern Direlands. The brave defenders of Fort Tethana have prevailed;
[Name of Hero] has
slain the Shadow Captain. The tides of war shift...another captain shall appear, perhaps
in a different settlement... The dying Shadow Captain cackles, the hateful sound echoing
from the walls of Fort Tethana. "You may have sent me to my doom, [Name of Hero], but
the generals are here, and they shall see your people weeping in despair."

Vengor of Darktide reported on the uplifting
behavior of players on the PK server who banded together for the common good. People who
were normally KOS were helping each other with either heals or buffs, or by stepping in to
take the heat when others needed to heal or rest.

advancing into the craggy Linvak Mountains, south of the Sho lands.

Following is Chain Lightning's
account of the defeat of Black Ferah, originally published on the Triad
site:
A Dream Day
OK first of all this is gonna sound like a load of B.S., but before logging
on today I took a nap after class and I had a dream about playing the game.
In the dream, I killed the shadow captain and experienced my 10 minutes of
fame. As you all know tonight I had my dream come true!
Before logging on I went to the Triad message board and saw a post telling
of the shadows moving in the obsidian plains. "Wow!" I thought. Could it be?
Well I made it post haste to Weijou and sure enough shadows were everywhere
but I didnt see Ferah and concentrated on an umbris (being the loot monkey
that I am :) and saw the message come up that someone had been killed nearby
by Dark Ferah. Whoa! here we go! I looked all around and saw him just as
Spellweaver finished him off. Darn. Upon the message telling of them moving
to the Linvak mountain range, I pursued my dream further to the mountain
town of Kara, again arriving there just as Axen finished Ferah off. Now I
was really frustrated. So close both times, yet so far. The third clue of
the southernmost spire in a sho town had me thinking of Tou Tou but upon
talking to Twostep he reminded me of a wilderness spire around Kara. So here
we go again. Upon arriving there, a few people were already at the spire and
we sat around discussing possible locations of the portal to get into this
thing. Then Lady Luck came over and sat in my lap! Someone had discovered
the portal and upon entering the spire either fell off or jumped out in a
suicidal attempt to escape, and Ferah followed, almost landing on top of me!
Unbuffed and completely surprised I just started draining. I'm not a Hero,
although I was doing high 5's with my Dad who all the while was screaming
"Go Chain!" (He gets into it as much as I do). I just happend to be
extremely lucky, and was very proud that my 2 best buds Fleet and Mikain
were there to share it with me. Score so far: Triad 2 Shadows 0. (Editor's
note: The Shadows really should have a higher score, after all they have
killed all of us a whole lot of times...)

Well, they're at it again. Nothing like a little
mayhem and bloodshed to spice up a Friday night.

The Nexus
The brave Dereth warriors continued to fight
throughout the night, for evil never sleeps.
Gathering up
the scattered pieces of the Shadow Key from the various spires, they reassembled the key
and made their assault on the Nexus. Players of all levels worked together to enter the
restricted portals to the spires. Finally, in a mighty confrontation, they shattered the
Nexus Crystal.

The wind brings important tidings: with the

of Hero], the shadows suddenly withdraw! From
all across the land, the shadows seem to leap away, returning to their dark corners to
hide. It seems that Dereth is safe...for now.
The destruction of the Nexus Crystal brings a
burst of heat through the area, followed by a cool, chill wind. Shadows seem to leap up
and fall away...in the distance, a faint voice seems to cry: "Retreat, in his
name!" and then there is nothing more"
