Candeth Keep, if you were thinking it was a brand spanking new town think again, it's a town in the making set in a square area surrounded by a 'moat'. Lugian Guards patrol the boundaries with little more than an Aun drummer in the centre who wants Water for his plant, a human architect in a tent and another Aun who I guess is a surveyor.

Shortcut to the new town is :
Run to the bottom of Syslfear dungeon and take S Dires exit portal, run past the D Note guy (for Aerlinthe) and youre here 87.8s 67.4w

Hinder of FF reports: "Did you notice that after this month's patch that the login screen changed yet again? There wasnt much difference, but the burn marks in the upper left hand corner have become darker and take up more space, and the liquid in the gord down below now has ripples in it, like its stirring. Perhaps its an omen of things to come? Great site, keep up the good work :D."

Ulgrim Island Updates!

Chrono Crest of WE reports: "When patch came up I talked to a town crier. He said that Ulgrim had angered the gods of the volcano on his island and small golems had sprouted up everywhere. So I headed over to the volcano, making my way past an incredible number of slow but very powerful golems. When I made it to the volcano I got killed, there was just so many golems :p Recovery was fun :D"

The ground trembles, casting stones from cliff faces and snow showering from the highest peaks.
The quake originates near the city of Eastham, but the shockwave can be felt as far away as Marae Lassel.
A piercing wail echoes across the ocean waters near Eastham, and a groundswell of Olthoi can be seen pouring over the Island to the east of the city.

Lynchet of DT reports from inside Asheron's Castle:
"The island is full of swarm olthoi of all types. Asheron's castle is to the north with a portal to him. In order to use this portal you need to have entered a hive on the island first. Once there, Asheron gives you a book with lore explaining more about the olthoi invasions and the coming of Isparians."

Asheron tells you, "Welcome. I had never thought that I would see Isparians here, aside from Elysa and Borelean. But I see that you have made your way across my island and through the Olthoi Hordes."

Asheron tells you, "I have fashioned this book to explain everything that I know at this time about the resurgence of the Olthoi. I am indebted to you once more for your actions."
Asheron gives you Olthoi Resurgent.
Asheron tells you, "I am not quite sure what caused them to come here, but I am quite sure that it relates directly to the evidence turned up at Knorr."
Asheron tells you, "Oh yes, I am well aware that you have been making your way through my familial estate; while I am not happy about your intrusion there, this world is as much yours as it is mine now."
Asheron smirks.

Asheron tells you, "I am however, all too well aware of Nuhmudira and her quest for more power. She plays with primal forces that are far beyond her frame to contain. In some respects, I pity her for her madness; in others, I revile her for the selfish manner in which she acts."
Asheron pauses looking to his guardians.
Asheron tells you, "I had assumed that the Queen at Knorr was not eternal. But this invasion has caused me to re-assess that assumption. It has been nearly 800 years since I have seen that Queen."

Asheron tells you, "If she has come, then we shall need to band together as never before. I could not use the full power of my magical arsenal while those creatures were here. There was something potent that drained the higher magics from the area. Now I feel them back again. You have helped to restore me...now we need to assist ourselves."

Asheron tells you, "This Queen...is the most terrible thing that this world or any other has ever seen. What is worse is that she remembers, and in that memory she undoubtedly is stalking me...but when she learns that her children have suffered so much at our hands, her attentions will be cast toward us all."

Guardian tells you, "We are here at the behest of Lord Asheron. Our duty is to maintain peace. We ask that you observe our requests so as to not force our hands into action."

Asheron tells you, "There is nothing more that I can tell you at this time. I must reflect upon what has transpired and devise a way to deal with this menace. It will require the efforts of us all if this is indeed the same Queen."

A report from Darius Falc of WE:
Asheron's tower can be reached via the portal in the Matron's Hive on south Island. From the Nanto portal drop, run left with the shore on your left and you should find it. The portal to West island is at the bottom of the Matron's Hive, but it isn't for the weak hearted...Olhoi swarm eviscerators, mutilators, guardians, warriors and nobles abound.

When you get to West Island head for the big mountain thing, Asheron's Tower is on the top. This run is *very* scary...imagine your worst nightmare then add Jerry Springer.

When you get to the base of the mountain the only thing you can do is run around it till you find a way up....with half the Olthoi in the world trying to stop you.

There is a plateau half way up where you can rest that is relatively Olthoi free...well compared to everywhere else.

When you get to Asheron's tower you will find a portal to the Inner Sanctum...take it...you'll find Asheron and his Guardians...(Don't forget to take pics...great eye candy)...talk to asheron and he'll tell you that some 800 year old hive matron has returned and give you a book.

The book is 30 pages long so I haven't read it yet...if you want to know what's inside, go talk to Asheron :).

Darius Falc sent these amendments to his previous letter:
1. correction. Asheron's book is 17 pages and not 30 pages.
2. The hive I pointed people to is the 80+ hive.
3. It seems that you need to kill one of the swarm Olthoi near the west Asheron's Isle portal to be tagged to be able to use the portal.
4. Don't step in the Acid pits...they were doing about 30 points of damage to me per second fully buffed and baned.


Asheron's Raiment - New Quest Undies!
After a series of globals in the 80+ hive, a new Olthoi Brood Matron spawns with lower health. It drops an Olthoi Carapace which can be turned into Olthoi Hunter in Arwic for a robe.  The robe is level 80+ with Armor Other VI. You'll also receive a moderate cantrip, an additional spell, based on your skill. The robe is white, but may be dyed!

Asheron's Supreme Raiment

Silken raiment woven together to be worn over the entirety of the body. Simple clasps allow for the item to be cinched along the front.

Asheron's Greater Raiment is received from a Matron Crest looted from the Brood Matron in the 60-80 hive. She was killed after 2 (?) other global messages were broadcast over a period of 12 hours. Thanks to Oldin of HG and his level 74 archer, Rolament!

New Globals!
[Player name] grinds their heel into the remains of the Brood Matron's carapace. Above, on the western part of Asheron's Island, the Olthoi Swarm increase in intensity.

As [Player name] defeats the Brood Matron of the western region of Asheron's Island, she emits a scream that calls her fallen horde back to her, until another can take her place.

As [Player name] strikes a fatal blow against the Brood Matron, the Olthoi assault intensifies on the surface of Asherons Island. The new horde cascades over the southern landscape as if a river shattering a dam.

The Brood Matron who once stood as the leader over the Olthoi Swarm on the western shores of Asheron's Island crumples, laid low by [Player name]. But her death has brought an even larger Olthoi Horde to cover the landscape there.

The eastern area of Asheron's Island shudders as [Player name] strikes a blow through the Brood Matron. In desperation, she chitters a command that renews the vigor of the invading olthoi. (1st? global on 60-80)

As the Brood Matron of the eastern part of Asheron's Island collapses, she issues a command to circumvent the efforts of [Player name]. (2nd? global on 60-80)

Defeated by [Player name] the Brood Matron of the eastern portion of Asheron's Island commands the Olthoi to re-gather the swarm and pillage the land. (3rd global on 60-80)

The eastern region of Asheron's Island become dormant at the Brood Matron there is defeated by the bold [Player name]. As the horde once loyal to the Matron scatters, finding refuge in the deep places of the world, a weight is lifted form the island. (final global on 60-80)

From State of the Code: Hotfix on Monday, July 28 9:00AM PST/12:00PM ESTto correct the following:

* The Olthoi Brood Matrons on Asheron's Island will have the correct respawn timer.
* The Renegade Bow and Crossbow will have the correct wield requirements.
* Golden Gromnies in your chests and hooks will be able to be picked up again.
* The timing on the Fort Tethana renegade raids will be adjusted.
