Martine's Robe and Mask!
I found Martine's robe and mask in a tower [unreachable] near the main ruin. There are 4 portals in the crater made by the castle crash. It was rather hard to find a place to get in.

I had to jump slide in buffed with 6s and 7s. I was standing in the air above the main floor of the ruins. My feet never touched the main floor. The four portals are elemental and level restricted. Once you jump in crater, there is no way out except portal or recall. Unless there is a way out in the portals at he bottom. Love your site, hope these screenies help :).

Hi Maggie!
Here are some of the things which happen when you wear or take off the
Martine Mask :

* Wearing *

  • Darkness clouds your vision. You hear water dripping and smell blood. A voice invades your mind and pervades your thoughts "Puppet, Reports are strong today. Puppet assimilates well."

  • Martine's Mask casts Stamina Blight and drains 285 points of your stamina.

  • Your sanity shatters like a crystal goblet.

  • The face of the enemy appears before you. He speaks consoling words, but your mind fills with hate as you struggle to attack this man... and then the feeling fades.

  • The wretched mask slips over your head and for a moment you woner [sic]... will it ever come off?

  • The calming chimes of the singularity tug at the back of your mind and your consciousness threatens to slip away.

  • A warm feeling of home and hearth fills your mind. You see a child playing at your feet... and then the sensation fades.

  • Your vision clouds. You are standing in a doorway watching a woman cradle a small child. She appears to be weeping. You look at your ruined clawed hand begin to weep yourself.

  • "Am I not comfortable?" The flesh on your face shifts and contorts. "How about now?"

  • He stands before you and offers the way home. You hesitate a moment and you think his offer is sound.

  • For a moment you think of home and family, then the memories fade into an array of abstract analysis, devoid of soul.

  • Your vision clouds. Magical energy crackles all around you as a deafening hum pervades the air. You feel a sense of satisfaction as you stare into the shocked and widening eyes of Gaerlan.

  • Your thoughts stray to Elysa, no Melanay, Elysa, no Melanay.

  • As the magic coalesces and tears through Asheron's chest you smile broadly thinking now you will have Elysa for your own. But the betrayal is at hand when your mind clears and your conscience becomes heavy.

  • The mask slips onto your face, and feels wet. Tendrils of energy loop into your cheeks and a purple hue covers your eyes for a brief moment. The world swims and your consciousness enhances. The smell of burned flesh fills your nostrils.

  • A man's voice says, "Am I not a man? Correction. Are we not men?"

  • A small boy looks at you without fear. You had meant to kill him. Arrita's giggles fill your head as you look at the tattered letter in your hand. Melanay's kisses and gentle smile come to mind and you stand. "Come Borelean it is time to make amends."

  • A man's voice fills your head. "Do you hear voices? I do. I cannot escape them!"

  • Screeches, howls, hums and unearthly sounds of wet fingers running along crystal pervade your mind a pulsing thrum throbs within. The singularity calls to you.

  • You have a strange thought. "Power it could be ours again."

  • As you don the shell of Martine, you are overcome by the feeling of slugs crawling all over your face for a moment, until the mask slips into place, and all is well.

  • You squeal trapped in a cell devoid of light. You are but a fraction when once you were a whole. You have a feeling you had never had before. Loss.

  • As the mask falls into place you see Virindi... everywhere. The faces melt into nothingness after a few panicked moments.

  • You feel the flesh of your face searing becoming one with the mask.

  • Asheron quells the ravages in your mind. You begin to think clearer as if a great weight has been lifted from your mind.

  • Your mind is flooded with the sights and sounds of a bustling port and a melancholy feeling overpowers your thoughts, but the vision soon fades.

  • A man's voice screams "The pain! The pain!"

  • The ghostly image of a fallen Tusker, its skull exploded open from the inside, appears in front of you. A smile creeps onto your face and then the image disappears.

  • As you wear the mask your vision fails you and it feels like egg yolks begin to run down your face.

  • A man's voice says, "Two moons circle."

  • A man's voice says, "As you have done for me, I now return the favor." Asheron's wounds close and he looks upon you.

  • Your breath quickens and a pain grows in your chest. Your head begins to hum and the world begins to close in upon you ever tighter. Claustrophobia clutches you in vice-like grip. The mask tightens on your skull threatening to crush it.

  • You feel alone in the world. All around you are enemies. They will not help you quell the renegades. These Isparian meatlings must be destroyed.

  • You feel alone in the world. All around you are enemies. They will not help you quell the renegades. These Isparian meatlings must be destroyed.

  • An arrow slices through your throat. Rocks pelt against your head and body. People beat your body bloody. You have become the slayer of hope.

* Taking off *

  • As you try to pull the mask from your face the eye sockets and mouth close off choking you near to death.

  • A tinny voice calls out, "Don't leave me alone. I can't stand to be alone."

  • The mask refuses to give up its grip on your skull for a moment.

  • A tinny voice calls out, "No! Put me back!"

  • The feeling of intense claustrophobia lifts as you slip that disgusting
    shell from your head.

  • A sound of Virindi holding a conversation in your head sounds as you peel the mask from your face.

  • As you pull the mask from you head the flesh threatens to come with it.

  • The mask slips from your skull with a sickeningly slick sound.

  • Your breath quickens and a pain grows in your chest. Your head begins to hum and the world begins to close in upon you ever tighter. Claustrophobia clutches you in vice-like grip. The mask tightens on your skull threatening to crush it.

  • When you remove the mask, the voices in your head decrease to the normal level.

  • Martine's Mask casts Stamina Blight and drains 290 points [all] of your stamina.

Hope this helps, your site is so great!

Salvaged Fire Opal

- 100 Chips of fire opal material salvaged from old items.

And it begins!
In Eastham, four portals open. Created by Asheron, these portals lead to caverns inhabited by golems created to defend the accessways to Gaerlan's grounded citadel. Warriors must divide themselves and defeat these guardians to gain entrance to the portals in the valley of the fallen citadel.

Went to Garlean's castle and guess who I found there? Asheron! Here is what he had to say....

Asheron tells you, "This world has suffered too many losses, and I have bore witness to too many of them. No longer. Gaerlan must be stopped."
Asheron tells you, "Our futures have been altered by Gaerlan. The time has come to right what he has made wrong. Martine's sacrifice shall not have been made in vain. We will avenge him and see that his gift to us is not wasted."
Asheron tells you, "Misfortune begs me tell you that Gaerlan is using some magic to bar me from his citadel. Though I have regained much of my strength from my injuries I am using much to keep his citadel here upon the ground."
Asheron tells you, "I have, however, located four Platinum Golems within the citadel. They are slumbering at the moment and need to be awakened. But once they are awake I can communicate with them and learn what they know of this citadel. Then perhaps I can assist you in traversing the several areas in an effort to meet and defeat Gaerlan."
Asheron tells you, "Your efforts over the past cycle of the moons has proven invaluable and he is cornered now. Be wary for this will make him dangerous, but you should also know that he is indeed much weaker. Take this."

Asheron gives you Imbued Pyreal Nugget.
Asheron tells you, "The portals into the citadel's inverted ziggurat lay nearby. I have been able to determine the rudimentary difficulty of the areas within and have restricted the entrances to assist you in your task. Find the appropriate portal and enter the ziggurat, find the golem and give the nugget to it. I will speak to you more once this is accomplished."

Gaerlan Falls!
Quest Details: Gaerlan's Citadel

[Character Name] with the assistance of their fellow Isparians has defeated Gaerlan. As the madman falls, a hush spreads in the place that was once his citadel.

Nuhmudira says, "Saervu Nuhmudi, Gaerlan."
Mana swirls in the place where Gaerlan was slain.
Nuhmudira says, "Yes, Gaerlan and endless life of servitude. Forever imprisoned within the walls of this citadel. Worse still within a phylactery. You shall rise so that my people may visit upon you the torment you meant for me to endure."

Thanks to Viscid Og of We for pic!

Well Maggie, I'm sure you have gotten about a million e-mails about the final attack on Gaerlan, but I thought I'd give my two cents too. Well after we finally dragged 4 people levels 20-39 we buffed them up and sent them in. After about 30 minutes, they killed the frost from of Gearlan. Next it was my turn. I and two others went in and killed his fire form. The char who finished was Hawkeye something, but I think all 3 of us deserve some credit for taking him on by ourselves.

Anyway, then the next 2 forms got killed and we were off and after Gaerlan. We dropped in to say hello and began our attack. I was unable to assess his final form, but his weapon was 25-50 fire with the Human Slayer ability. You later receive this, but only Empyreans may wield it. Before Gearlan cheap-shotted me (of which I was squelched for 5 min. because I called him several nasty names; always an admin around when you don't want one =)). Anyway, before he got me, I got some nice pics of him and this is the best. I hope you enjoy.

The messages below fill your mind as you explore the Library portion of the quest:

  • You sense eyes staring at you from the darkness.

  • A chill wind passes over your body. "You live still. We hunger so for life. Will you join us?"

  • A snake-man dresses you in a fine silken robe. Nearby a woman cries, at her feet a small child with golden eyes attempts to stifle the tears which brim at his eyes. You smile, and turn from them and are lead toward an altar by the snake-man.

  • Bookshelf tells you, "He knows you are here and he will be prepared. He stole his throne. Take it back for the master."

  • A light breeze surrounds you momentarily. You see a city of alabaster, sapphire and gold stretching toward the heavens. Skyships the color of the sun traverse the sky. A man wearing a cerulean crown walks toward you and hands you a missive. As you open the document he stretches his hand forward holding a brooch for you.

  • Your head fills with the sound of a banshee's wail.

  • "Silence in this room, we may no longer have forms, but still we read and live."

  • There is the smell of something sweet nearby. The moons are large and high above your head. Four spires the color of sea-foam rise about you, and a chill wind blows. You taste blood, and the heady scent of sage fills your senses. You cough and shower yourself in blood.

  • You smile as the companion novel slides from the bookshelf. You now have all you need.

  • You are sitting at a table in this very room as a chill shakes you to your soul. You feel breath brush against your neck. You turn but there is no one to be seen. The candles flicker as a breeze fills the room. You gently close your book and call upon fire to form beside you. A minor elemental appears. A small prism within your robes turns to dust.

  • A voice says, "He commands the spirits here now, blood given to the Blood."

  • A soft voice alights upon your ear, "We watch this age with baited breath. Slowly it slips from the grasp of the race that held this world. Now it is another's."

  • You stumble as the staircase shifts beneath your feet. You maintain your balance as they slide to the far wall.

  • The trials left you shaken but you were prepared for much worse. You shoulder your weight against your staff and rest a moment, age it seems has the better of you. Your wrinkled skin makes you feel ill, there is still so much to accomplish. You sense the hundreds of eyes within the room and call to them.

  • As you step over the threshold into the small room you are immediately drawn to the bookcase before you. It is as though it calls your name. As you approach it hands reach toward you and offer knowledge to you.

  • You run your hand over the cover of the tome and pull the other from within your pack. The first was found in Xarabydun, this new tome is its equal, the second in a set of three. One more and your knowledge shall be complete.

  • A shrill voice says in your mind, "Is she fallen? How was this temple freed?"

  • The hair on your neck rises, as a voice sounds in your mind. "Once we were, but our souls linger, given to him, given to him..."

The Harbinger
Well, it was a usual Friday night when I was in Serac, and all of a sudden there was Broadcast message that a portal from Elysa opened in Yanshi.... So I and the whole server went to Yanshi... lag was bad. Anyway, there where different portals: 10-20, 21-30, 31-50, etc. I went in the 80+ side and there was this huge Ursuin Looking thing called the Harbinger. Never got to ID or see what I was doing cause of lag. But we killed it in about 10-15 min. So yes he was hard. --Q'ane of MT

Thanks to Wilhelm the Og for pic!

In the ruins of Yanshi, a portal has opened. High Queen Elysa Strathelar awaits those that would enter within the wreckage of the once proud town.

Elysa staggers

Elysa Strathelar says, "I will live. The wound appears more severe than it truly is. We must rally ourselves. Be careful of the tentacles, they belong to the beast, but there is no way to harm them."
Elysa Strathelar says, "They will strike at you and use magics upon you. I think we weakened it... hope we weakened it. But it claimed so many lives. Lives that will not return, it was pure essence raw and unformed and then, all at once, it was there."
Elysa Strathelar says, "We fought, we fought so long, but it returned. Most of my men were slain and where they fell their corpses remain. We must rally as many as we can to fight this beast."

Elysa covers her mouth, as she coughs. She pulls her hands away, they are covered in blood.
Elysa Strathelar says, "We defeated it once! We can defeated [sic] this thing again."

Hi maggie,
I'm legolas aldven, a level 16 archer from Morningthaw. Today a new portal opened in Yansi. Inside, there were level-restricted portals. I went into the lightning one that was 10-20 and found the Crystal of Tumult. It didn't attack, but it summoned Statics, and Sand Golems. The attached pic (top left) shows me fighting it. I did eventually kill it, but there was no system-wide message.

[Player Name] strikes a blow that forces the Harbinger to cease motion. As the being splits apart the essence of storm is ripped free and returns to the ley lines of Dereth and Auberean.

Again the call goes out:
"In the ruins of Yanshi, a portal has opened. High Queen Strathelar asks that any able bodied warriors enter to destroy the beast that threatens to drain the mana, and thereby the magic, from the world."

Hey, Maggie, just got finished helping out with killing the Harbinger on HG, and that weird lightning stone/pseudo-cistern thing. Lightning stone was pretty easy to kill, but the Harbinger himself took quite a beating; I think the fight lasted half an hour, with a number of people whaling on him. The portals to these two were restricted to levels 21-45, I think the other stones had different requirements. On a side note, it seems odd that the Harbinger wasn't harder - I don't think anybody died while fighting him!

Love your site, btw!

State of Rage, of HG

MAGGIE!
I killed the harbringer in a 20-45 level dungeon. I got a global message and everything! (well, except loot, GRR)

The people that stuck around afterwards were... Tusker Golem, Narak the Fletcher, Death', Og Test, X-Terminater, Lav's Tinker Mule, Os', Tamitha ...there were quite a few people there though, so sorry for any I forgot to mention!

Thanks to Maxwell the Fist of FF for pic above.

Beneath the ruined soil of Yanshi, the heroes of Dereth rejoice, as the brave [Player Name] strikes a fatal and final blow against the Harbringer. As the essence floods back through the world, an imperceptible weight is lifted from the shoulders of the populace. Peace has returned once again across Dereth.
