The Death of Commander Kurth

Hello Maggie,
There was a global from Antius Blackmoor (Dec. 1, 2005) that he wanted our help to end the invasion in Glenden Wood. So we gathered around the Holt Lifestone, and at the sign of Antius, we ran overland towards Glenden Wood. On the road we killed Viamontians, cleaned the barricade N of GW, and the town itself.

Then Antius lead us towards the updated Glenden Wood Prison. We fought our way down, killing eaters & Viamontians. At the bottom, Antius stopped, and said he would open a new portal. He started praying (for quite some time, so most of the group had time to find their way to the bottom), then opened a portal. Think the portal was 100+, since not everyone could go through. People said the portal stayed. I don't know if it will be permanent.

The next dungeon started out with a corridor, full of Hands and Eaters, and we came into a big room with a killable door. Behind the door were more Hands, and the mutated Commander Kurth (from the teasershot).

His weapon must have been something (if you go for Antius' words, but I didn't take a screenie cause I was too busy shooting). Took a bit to kill him, even with half the server there, and during the process, Antius died.

When the Commander died, "Armor Shards" spawned all over the room, like bags just like in the King's quests. Some of us got a "sword shard."
 
If you tried to pick up a second, you got the message "You've solved this quest too many times." After the death of the Commander, some of us stayed a bit. Although the Hands re-spawned, the Commander did not, or at least not fast. We ran around trying to find out where to turn in the shard, but none of
the NPCs in Teth would take it, now would most of the crafters, nor the Grand Knight in Sanamar. To be continued?

Anyway, there was another global that the bier with Antius's body would be in Yanshi meeting hall. There was a coffin like Cragstone's and two honor guards. Clicking it got you 1% of your level. If you got a hit in that is, I think, because some of us didn't get the xps, even when they were in the dungeon while he was killed.

Unfortunately, it looks like GW is still invaded. The critters kept spawning there, so Antius's death didn't help with that. Also, some reported that for quests where it was necessary to speak with him (Defender quest) Antius is replaced by another NPC. Don't know if that was already the case before this event [yes, Antius had previously been replaced at Plateau Village].

Attached you find screenies with some of the things Antius said. He was quite talkative, so I didn't get all of it ;).

Antius Event Report from SC!

Hello Maggie,

We just had our live event here on Solclaim and I took lots of screenshots along the way. I even had some fun joking around with Antius and got scolded abit. =)

We tried to keep him alive, but he died almost the instant he attacked Commander Kurth, so unfortunately we could not keep him alive.

After killing Kurth, we all got armor shards and some got the sword shards. We hung around for awhile but Kurth did not respawn for awhile; not sure if he will respawn later or perhaps in December's patch he will become a constant respawn. The global went out that his body was in Yanshi for all to visit his coffin and gives 1% towards your level when you use it. I'm unsure if it's repeatable, because there where so many spamming it at the time.

Overall a very fun live event and had a blast joking with Antius, bashing those Viamonts, and getting revenge for Antius's Death. I hope we have more events like this that are dev controlled as it was a lot of fun and many people turned out on Solclaim.

Antius Blackmoor says, "We are here. I have it on good authority that the invasion force came out from the prison, after excavating a deeper training chamber."
Antius Blackmoor is entering the North Glenden Prison at 31.8N, 25.5E with an armed group in an attempt to retake Glenden Wood.
Antius Blackmoor says, "We will counter-attack the invasion by infiltrating this prison and rendering the chamber unfit for Viamontian use. There is an office which serves as a link between the prison and the training chamber."
Antius Blackmoor says, "Once we arrive at the office at the bottom, I have a gem which can be used to open a portal."
Antius Blackmoor says, "Once the portal is open, we will all rush through and defeat the leaders of this army. Without a general, the army will either fall apart or become demoralized enough that we should be able to easily beat them back."
You say, "A warrior debuffing...madness I say!"
Antius Blackmoor says, "I am a sword scholar - equal parts of each."
You say, "I'm a scholar of hot drudges myself"
Antius Blackmoor looks around the room with a grim satisfaction.
Antius Blackmoor has begun to open a portal from the bottom of the North Glenden Prison into what appears to be the main headquarters of the Viamontians in the Glenden Wood area.
Antius Blackmoor says, "This matches the description I was given by my agent."
Antius Blackmoor prays.
Antius Blackmoor says, "We have done an effective job of holding the enemy at bay. I am proud to fight alongside such stalwart individuals."
Antius Blackmoor says, "If there are repercussions, I will be sure to make it clear that it was my guidance which led you all down this path, and that you are blameless."
Antius Blackmoor says, "But for now, let us win back our homelands from the Viamontians."
Antius Blackmoor says, "The portal should open soon..."
Antius Blackmoor says, "Must...focus..."

Commander Jared Kurth splits Antius Blackmoor apart!
Viamontian Inquisitor says, "Good. We have accomplished our primary aim. Now let us slay all the bloodless witnesses...let them report what they have seen from their lifestones!"
Antius Blackmoor's corpse looks very pallid on the floor...there is not evidence that he has returned to his lifestone at all.
Commander Jared Kurth's sword pulses red as it sinks into Antius Blackmoor's heart.
The sword explodes in a blinding flash as Antius falls, slain.
Commander Jared Kurth raises his arms in a ritual of bestial triumph, snarling at the observers of this struggle, daring them to assault him.

Jillian the Kind's death is preceded by a sharp, stabbing pain, coutesy of Commander Jared Kurth!
David the Mage Bear tears Commander Jared Kurth to ribbons!
In a hidden room beneath the North Glenden Prison, Commander Jared Kurth's armor shatters under the blows he has received from his enemies. He howls in anger, then in pain.
Kurth finally falls with a thundering crash, dead.
