To begin your quest, visit Leandra the alchemist in the lower level of Martine's Retreat (take the portal in the center of Rithwic).

Leandra tells you, "Ah, a visitor! It is so nice to see a new face around here, especially now that my spirits have been lifted. I must tell you of my newest findings."
Leandra tells you, "I have been working on a distillation process that transforms chorizite ore into a viscous formula capable of absorbing magical damage."
Leandra tells you, "If you have the inclination, bring me a small amount of the highest quality refined chorizite available, and I will reward you with one application of the formula, and my notes."

If you've ever been on the Ravenous Weapons quest, you'll know that High Grade Chorizite is found in the Lugian Excavations at 77.0S, 64.4E. To reach the dungeon, take the Lugian Meadows Settlement portal from Mayoi (60.8S, 80.3E). You'll exit at 74.5S, 65.9E, just a short distance away.

You'll first need to acquire your Lugian Pick Axe from one of the Lugians inside. Be careful! The dungeon is riddled with dispel traps. Wear armor with a good base AL because the Extas and Gigas Lugians carry hollow weapons!

To reach a deposit, keep heading north from the entrance. After descending a ramp, go right (straight) at the first intersection. You can reach deposits from most of the remaining routes. Use a pick axe on the deposit to extract your ore.

Once you have a deposit, you'll need to take it to Feruza ibn Salaq at the northern beach fort to have it refined. To reach Feruza again head to the Mayoi Settlement portals at 60.8S, 80.3E. Take the Lady Maila Estates portal and you'll exit at 74.4N, 46.3W, a very short run to the fort at 76.0N, 49.1W.

Feruza ibn Salaq tells you, "I trade in rare metals and information. I am only interested in motes from golems and the new ore the Lugians have been mining."
Feruza ibn Salaq tells you, "If you bring me motes, slivers, nuggets and bars of pyreal, I will share some of my knowledge with you."
You give Feruza ibn Salaq Chunk of High-Grade Chorizite.
Feruza ibn Salaq tells you, "This is the very purest grade of chorizite. You must be formidable to have survived in the mines of the Lugians. I don't know of any smiths with a forge hot enough to shape it, though."
Feruza ibn Salaq gives you Refined High-Grade Chorizite.

Return to Leandra in Martine's Retreat and give her the Refined Chorizite. In return, she'll give you a Chorizite Formula and a text with further instructions.

Leandra tells you, "One moment please. The success of choritize distillation relies on steady hands and a clear mind."

Leandra tells you, "Be sure to read the notes I gave you - and remember, the formula is new and largely untested. More research will be needed to fully understand its properties."

The Abandoned Armory is located at 83.6S, 14.7W. To reach it, take the Landbridge Villages settlement portal from Qalaba'r at 74.8S, 17.8E. You'll exit at 87.2S, 3.5E. Buff for a Dires run. You'll encounter Dark Magus, Sephal Niffis, and other dangerous creatures on your run there. First head north until you reach the water. From there, run along the shoreline heading west until you reach the dungeon entrance.

The Abandoned Armory is full of Undead: Revenants, Dark Revenants, Dark Magus, Dark Leeches and a few Fire Wisps. You'll be passing through open rooms full of undead. In each, the small room in the middle contains a pressure plate which opens the next door. Bring your fire weapons!

From the entrance, take the ramp down to the north. The dungeon is symmetrical, so take either passage down from the first large room. In general keep going down and you won't get lost. You'll pass through three more large rooms total, each with a pressure plate in the middle opening your next door.

When you reach the bottom you'll be in a large open room with a few Fire Wisps and more undead. You'll find 5 dais with different colored shields on top: green, blue, red, pink/purple or white. Choose which color you want, then pick up the deteriorated aegis.

Use your Chorizite Formula on the Aegis for your Sanguinary Aegis!

The shield crystalizes as you apply the Chorizite formula.

The shield is SL 0 and cannot be enchanted. Wielding it reduces the amount of damage you receive from certain magic attacks. The Aegis is on a one month timer and may be hooked.
