The ground trembles, casting stones from cliff faces and snow showering from the highest peaks.
The quake originates near the city of Eastham, but the shockwave can be felt as far away as Marae Lassel.
A piercing wail echoes across the ocean waters near Eastham, and a groundswell of Olthoi can be seen pouring over the Island to the east of the city.

As players explored, they discovered four level restricted portals to the island.

--Uziz Portal - 25.0S 28.1E
(Asheron's Island West - levels 60+)

(Asheron's Island East - levels 80+)

The island was teeming with Olthoi! To the north, Asheron's castle could be seen in the distance. People soon found that they were unable to enter Asheron's Sanctum until they completed a quest. Enter one of the four Hives to be flagged to enter the Sanctum.

An easy task, you may say! That is, until you actually try to reach the entrance. They are heavily guarded by Olthoi and death awaits you!

Matron Hives
--South - 15.9N, 73.7E, Levels 20+
--North - 23.4N,69.4E, Levels 40+
--West - 19.3N, 72.6E, Levels 60+
--East - 18.4N, 69.3E, Levels 80+

Once you've entered one of the hives, you can then enter Asheron's Sanctum.

Note: If you enter through a summoned portal, you will not be flagged.

Darius Falc of WE reports:
Asheron's tower can be reached via the portal in the Matron's Hive on south Island. From the Nanto portal drop, run left with the shore on your left and you should find it. The portal to West island is at the bottom of the Matron's Hive, but it isn't for the weak hearted...Olhoi swarm eviscerators, mutilators, guardians, warriors and nobles abound.

When you get to West Island head for the big mountain thing, Asheron's Tower is on the top. This run is *very* scary...imagine your worst nightmare then add Jerry Springer.

When you get to the base of the mountain the only thing you can do is run around it till you find a way up....with half the Olthoi in the world trying to stop you.

There is a plateau half way up where you can rest that is relatively Olthoi free...well compared to everywhere else.

When you get to Asheron's tower you will find a portal to the Inner Sanctum...take it...you'll find Asheron and his Guardians...(Don't forget to take pics...great eye candy)...talk to asheron and he'll tell you that some 800 year old hive matron has returned and give you a book.

The book is 30 pages long so I haven't read it yet...if you want to know what's inside, go talk to Asheron :).

Darius Falc sent these amendments to his previous letter:
1. correction. Asheron's book is 17 pages and not 30 pages.
2. The hive I pointed people to is the 80+ hive.
3. Don't step in the Acid pits...they were doing about 30 points of damage to me per second fully buffed and baned.

Asheron tells you, "Welcome. I had never thought that I would see Isparians here, aside from Elysa and Borelean. But I see that you have made your way across my island and through the Olthoi Hordes."

Asheron tells you, "I have fashioned this book to explain everything that I know at this time about the resurgence of the Olthoi. I am indebted to you once more for your actions."
Asheron gives you Olthoi Resurgent.
Asheron tells you, "I am not quite sure what caused them to come here, but I am quite sure that it relates directly to the evidence turned up at Knorr."
Asheron tells you, "Oh yes, I am well aware that you have been making your way through my familial estate; while I am not happy about your intrusion there, this world is as much yours as it is mine now."
Asheron smirks.

Asheron tells you, "I am however, all too well aware of Nuhmudira and her quest for more power. She plays with primal forces that are far beyond her frame to contain. In some respects, I pity her for her madness; in others, I revile her for the selfish manner in which she acts."
Asheron pauses looking to his guardians.
Asheron tells you, "I had assumed that the Queen at Knorr was not eternal. But this invasion has caused me to re-assess that assumption. It has been nearly 800 years since I have seen that Queen."

Asheron tells you, "If she has come, then we shall need to band together as never before. I could not use the full power of my magical arsenal while those creatures were here. There was something potent that drained the higher magics from the area. Now I feel them back again. You have helped to restore me...now we need to assist ourselves."

Asheron tells you, "This Queen...is the most terrible thing that this world or any other has ever seen. What is worse is that she remembers, and in that memory she undoubtedly is stalking me...but when she learns that her children have suffered so much at our hands, her attentions will be cast toward us all."

Guardian tells you, "We are here at the behest of Lord Asheron. Our duty is to maintain peace. We ask that you observe our requests so as to not force our hands into action."

Asheron tells you, "There is nothing more that I can tell you at this time. I must reflect upon what has transpired and devise a way to deal with this menace. It will require the efforts of us all if this is indeed the same Queen."

Those who choose to explore the hives will find an Olthoi Brood Matron at the bottom. Eventually, after fighting the Matron again and again, players will receive a global message. After three globals over a period of 12 or so hours, another Brood Matron with lower health stats will spawn. Kill her to receive a 4th and final global. Once she is dead, you'll find a trophy on her corpse. From this point on, she spawns approximately every 5 minutes and drops the trophy each time she is killed. The portal on the mainland also changes so that players are deposited directly into the dungeon instead of the island.

Note: At this time the exact mechanics of the quest are still unknown. There's been some speculation that the mobs on the surface must also be killed in order to spawn the globals.

To reach the Matron, go straight from the entrance down the ramp then head to the left and down again. Head north until you reach the acid pit, then it's a straight run to the Matron.

The Brood Matrons from each of the four dungeons drop a different trophy. When they are turned into the Olthoi Hunter in Arwic at 30.9N, 56.3E, different levels of Asheron's Raiment are given in return with various random spells (see stats to the right)! Asheron's Undies are buffable and may be dyed.

There is a three week time on picking up the trophies.
 

Level 20-40 Globals

1.) The Brood Matron falls under the assault of [Player Name]. As her death scream echoes across Asheron's Island, a new host of Olthoi clamor out of the ground to mar the southern portion of Asheron's Island.

2.) [Player name] tears through the chitinous armor of the Brood Matron. In her death throes, she emits a piercing wail that permeates the entirety of Asheron's Island. A new horde returns to the land led by another Matron.

3.) As [Player name] strikes a fatal blow against the Brood Matron, the Olthoi assault intensifies on the surface of Asherons Island. The new horde cascades over the southern landscape as if a river shattering a dam.

4.) [Player Name's] blow silences the Brood Matron. As she falls, the horde retreats into the dark crevices and impassable holes. The lands on the southern most quarter of Asheron's Island have been secured.

Olthoi Hunter tells you, "Asheron said that I should be expecting these sometime soon. He also gave me a nice selection of rewards for the efforts of those that helped out. Give me a just a moment while I sort through the items."

Level 40-60 Globals

1.) The Brood Matron in the northern area of Asheron's Island crumbles beneath [Player Name's] blow. As she falls, she calls to the hordes of Olthoi deep within the crust of the world. They respond quickly, flooding the northern landscape of the island.

2.) In her suffering, the Brood Matron on the northern part of Asheron's Island calls to her horde. As her death comes at the hands of [Player Name], the Olthoi she commanded unleash their assault with renewed vigor.

3.) On the northern portion of Asheron's Island the noble [Player Name] has struck down the Brood Matron responsible for the Olthoi assault; but in her death the Matron calls to her forces to press the attack!

1.) The eastern area of Asheron's Island shudders as [Player name] strikes a blow through the Brood Matron. In desperation, she chitters a command that renews the vigor of the invading olthoi.

2.) As the Brood Matron of the eastern part of Asheron's Island collapses, she issues a command to circumvent the efforts of [Player name].

3.) Defeated by [Player name] the Brood Matron of the eastern portion of Asheron's Island commands the Olthoi to re-gather the swarm and pillage the land.

4.) The eastern region of Asheron's Island become dormant at the Brood Matron there is defeated by the bold [Player name]. As the horde once loyal to the Matron scatters, finding refuge in the deep places of the world, a weight is lifted form the island.

Level 80+ Globals

#?.) As [Player name] defeats the Brood Matron of the western region of Asheron's Island, she emits a scream that calls her fallen horde back to her, until another can take her place.

#?.) The Brood Matron who once stood as the leader over the Olthoi Swarm on the western shores of Asheron's Island crumples, laid low by [Player name]. But her death has brought an even larger Olthoi Horde to cover the landscape there.
