Vein. If you chose to save Nuhmudira in the
Gelidite
Library quest, you will be flagged to complete the
Nuhmudira's
Boon quest. The Boon quest allows you to craft magical gorgets created
by Nuhmudira before her imprisonment by imbuing them
with helpful spells. The elixirs used to infuse the pyreal gorgets are
made from Ruined Amulets found on various Dereth creatures (see
Ruined Amulets
write-up for details on the creature drops).
Once you have found an
amulet and handed it to Balthazar the Royal Guard outside of Lin at 54.8S,
74.4E, you will be flagged to enter the Arcanum Storehouse. Balthazar
directs you to speak to the portal guards inside for further information.
Balthazar, Royal
Guardian snaps to attention.
Balthazar, Royal Guardian tells you, "I see that you
have returned to me hero. Well I am pleased to say that the royal guard
have done an excellent job of securing the main room within this storage
facility. The remainder of the building however is still plagued by the
sclavus presence."
Balthazar, Royal Guardian salutes you.
Balthazar, Royal Guardian tells you, "We are looking
then to the heroes that have proven themselves to enter into these places
and obtain for the Arcanum, precious necklaces that were left within.
Should you find any of these items, return to me and I will ensure that
you are given direction as to how better complete the items."
Balthazar, Royal Guardian bows his head low.
Balthazar, Royal Guardian tells you, "You may enter
this place as often as you wish. But you must speak to the portal guards
to be given access into the holding rooms that teem with sclavus. Everyone
should be allowed to destroy these vile creatures and as such we wish to
make sure that all have the opportunity. Speak to the guards within,
Etienne, Isabelle, and Guen. They will inform you further."
Balthazar, Royal Guardian tells you,
"Remember, when you have obtained any one of these
items return to me for further instruction. Good luck, Hero!"
When you enter, you'll be
in an entrance area with three guards, each standing next to a Storehouse
portal. Etienne guards the
Arcanum Storehouse Upper Level (Levels 15+); Guen guards the Storehouse
Middle Level (Levels 30+); and Isabelle guards the
Lower Level (Levels 45+). The portals may not be tied, recalled or
summoned. Each level of the Storehouse has been overtaken by Sclavus of
varying levels. Your task is to fight the Sclavus menace within and to bring
out precious necklaces that were left behind.
Arcanum Storehouse
Upper Level
Etienne, Royal Guardian snaps to attention, and salutes you.
Etienne, Royal Guardian tells you, "Hail Traveller! You are most welcome
within this place. We need your help. There are sclavus beyond this portal,
that are as strong as a Banderling Captain. If you feel that you can handle
fighting these creatures you are welcome to enter. Be warned however that I
will grant you access to this place only once a week. You may enter for one
week then must wait another week before you enter again."
Etienne, Royal Guardian tells you, "Everyone should have the opportunity to
strike a blow against these defiling creatures."
Etienne, Royal Guardian tells you, "You will also, if lucky enough, find a
gorget within that Balthazar can explain a little bit more about to you.
Good luck friend."
The Arcanum Storehouse
Upper Level (restricted to levels 15+) is infested with Se (Level 14) and
Aste (Level 16)
Sclavus. Sclavus,
a magical crossbreed of serpent and humanoid, not
only use Spears and Swords, but powerful spells to attack. You'll be
assaulted with Level III spells, such as
Acid Stream III, Frost Bolt III, and
Vulnerability Other III.

Arcanum Storehouse Upper Level
The Green Gorgets are
found spawning on the floor. You'll need to head down to the 2nd level
before you stumble across one. From the entrance, head north through the
first room then make a left at the four way intersection heading west.
Follow to a dead end. Head north through two more rooms and you will see the
stairs heading down on the west wall. When you reach the 2nd level take the
passage east through a room until you reach the inner corridor. Go north and
when you hit the wall, go right heading east. The gorget spawns in the
eastern most room on the north wall.
Even more gorgets spawn on
the 3rd and 4th levels of the Upper Storehouse. From this room, go through
the rooms to the west and you will see the stairs on the north wall. Another gorget spawns right in the room at the bottom. If you need more, explore the
various rooms. An exit portal is located on the south wall of the lowest
level. If you decide to portal recall out, you will end up outside, near the
small caved entrance where Balthazar stands guard.

Middle Level
Guen, Royal Guardian snaps to

The Arcanum Storehouse Middle Level
(restricted to levels 30+) is infested with Essa (Level 22), Sata (Level 40)
and Ulu (Level 60)
Sclavus.
Again, you'll be attacked with Level III spells, such as
Force Bolt III and Frost Bolt
III, and Defenselessness Other III. You should be able to get through
without fighting any more than 3 Sclavus at a time. The Ulu Sclavus in this
section are only at the end; it's possible to pick up a gorget long before
meeting one.

Arcanum Storehouse Middle Level
The Blue Gorgets are found
in this section. Again, they spawn on the floor throughout. Like the Upper
Section, you have to go down in order to find your first gorget. From the
entrance, take either path all the way south until you dead end. You'll see
the stairs on the south wall. You may find a gorget on this level, but more
spawn on the level below. To reach the next set of stairs, go north until
you dead end. Head all the way west, then go north. The passage to the
stairs is on the west wall of the 3rd room. Once you reach the 3rd level,
you can find a gorget in any one of the small rooms on the west wall. The
exit portal in this level is located back at your departure point.

Lower Level

The Arcanum Storehouse
Lower Level (restricted to levels 45+) is the most difficult section and is
infested with Faisi (Level 74) and Chomu (Level 111)
Sclavus.
These guys don't fool around! Prepare yourself for Level V and VI attacks:
Lightning Bolt V and Acid Stream V (among others) from the Faisi; and Acid
Blot VI, Lightning Bolt VI, Drain Mana VI, Flame Bolt VI, Harm Other VI, and
Enfeeble Other VI from the Chomu!

Arcanum Storehouse Lower Level
Red Gorgets are scattered
on the floors of this section. From the entry go through the door to the
north and make an immediate right heading east. At the first intersection go
left, then left again down the first set of stairs. There are two gorgets on
this next level: one is in the southern most room of the east wall, and the
other is in the northern most room of the west wall. Directions to the first
are easy. At the bottom of the stairs make your first left and go all the
way east into the gorget room! If you want more than one, you're on your
own! (Or, of course, you can use the
map! ;-)
Imbuing the Gorgets
When you have retrieved
your gorget, return to Balthazar for further instructions. He will direct
you to Hiro, the chief artificer who worked closely with Nuhmudira, who will
instruct you on crafting your gorget.
You give
Balthazar, Royal Guardian Unimbued Green Pyreal Gorget.
Balthazar, Royal Guardian looks the gorget over.
Balthazar, Royal Guardian tells you, "Excellent work. Take this to the
Arcanum Consortium, in the desert sands above Xarabydun, and seek out the
Artificer there by the name of Hiro. He will be pleased to see you, and your
find."
Balthazar, Royal Guardian gives you Unimbued Green Pyreal Gorget.
You give Balthazar, Royal Guardian Unimbued Blue Pyreal Gorget.
Balthazar, Royal Guardian tells you, "So you fought through the sclavus
horde and emerged victorious with a prize! Excellent work, hero."
Balthazar, Royal Guardian looks the gorget over.
Balthazar, Royal Guardian tells you, "Take this into the desert, to the
Arcanum Consortium, above Xarabydun. There you will find a man named Hiro.
He is the chief artificer for the Arcanum, he worked very closely with
Nuhmudira. He should be able to assist you with further instructions."
Balthazar, Royal Guardian gives you Unimbued Blue Pyreal Gorget.
You give Balthazar, Royal Guardian Unimbued Red Pyreal Gorget.
Balthazar, Royal Guardian tells you, "Ahh, a prize worthy of the great
efforts you undoubtedly put forth."
Balthazar, Royal Guardian looks the gorget over and taps his forehead.
Balthazar, Royal Guardian tells you, "You are a patron of heroics, I tell
you. Take this back and visit Hiro, in the Arcanum Consortium."
Balthazar, Royal Guardian slaps his forehead.
Balthazar, Royal Guardian gives you Unimbued Red Pyreal Gorget.
Balthazar, Royal Guardian tells you, "I almost forgot, you probably don't
know where the Consortium is. Very well, then. Go to Xarabydun and you will
see that they have constructed their buildings in the desert there. Hiro
will be within the walls somewhere I am sure. He is the chief artificer, and
will help you with the further construction of these gifts."
To reach the Consortium in Xarabydun, take
the Monument Sands settlement portal from Al-Arqas (33.6S, 132.E). It will drop you at
37.9S, 16.0E. From there it's a short run to the Consortium at 41.8S, 15.8E.
Give Hiro an Unimbued Gorget for instructions.
You give
Hiro, Arcanum Artificer Unimbued Green Pyreal Gorget.
Hiro, Arcanum Artificer, turns the item over in his hands, scrutinizing the
metal.
Hiro, Arcanum Artificer tells you, "Hmm...It looks to be intact. Those
filthy snakebeasts did not harm them it appears. That means that they can
still be imbued."
Hiro, Arcanum Artificer speaks words that sound like gibberish, the metal of
the necklace glows softly and then returns to normal.
Hiro, Arcanum Artificer gives you Unimbued Green Pyreal Gorget.
Hiro, Arcanum Artificer tells you, "Well then, I suppose that I should get
on with explaining what you are to do with this item, eh? Hrmph."
Hiro, Arcanum Artificer leans over his table and picks up a book.
Hiro, Arcanum Artificer tells you, "The most important aspect of the
creation of this item is that you know that you can only make them once
every month and that once made they are yours. The object that you have
obtained seems to be of the lowest quality and so once imbued will have a
lesser spell that works in conjunction with the others you choose. As well
it seems as though the spells will be less potent then if you found one of
the stronger version of this item."
Hiro, Arcanum Artificer gives you The Boon.
Hiro, Arcanum Artificer tells you, "Perhaps...it was because you were unable
to enter the other places to obtain the higher quality gorgets. If you
should find any return to me and I will see that ensure that the object is
worthy of crafting. For now, you may as well imbue this item as it will
still hold magic."

Hiro, Arcanum Artificer looks the necklace over, and smile gently at you.
Hiro, Arcanum Artificer tells you, "Ahh...another of the gorget crafted by
Nuhmudira's hands and will. You have done well."
Hiro, Arcanum Artificer turns the heavy ring over in his hands, inspecting
the metal carefully.
Hiro, Arcanum Artificer gives you Unimbued Blue Pyreal Gorget.
Hiro, Arcanum Artificer tells you, "Craft this in the same way that you have
made the others, and you shall have another of Nuhmudira's gifts. Remember
always where these came from."
You give Hiro, Arcanum Artificer Unimbued Red Pyreal Gorget.
Hiro, Arcanum Artificer tells you, "Another one. You work well my friend.
Let me take a look at this."
Hiro, Arcanum Artificer examines the fine metal with an admiration that is
palpable. His smile is clear and sincere as his fingers run along the smooth
edges of the metal.
Hiro, Arcanum Artificer tells you, "Yes. This is the finest quality of metal
that she worked with. Nuhmudira is truly a genius. You have done most
excellent work to wrest this from the grasp of the sclavus."
Hiro, Arcanum Artificer speaks words that sound like gibberish, the metal of
the necklace glows softly and then returns to normal.
Hiro, Arcanum Artificer gives you Unimbued Red Pyreal Gorget.
Hiro, Arcanum Artificer tells you, "Remember though that you can only make

The
Boon
As the text outlines, each
Gorget can be imbued with two spells. You must first use an Elixir of the
Left Hand, then you can add a protection spell (see table to the right). All
gorgets also receive a different strength of Nuhmudira's Bestowment which
adds points to Magic Defense and may be layered.
The metal
consumes the elixir and emits a soft glow.
Green Gorgets:
Level III spells and Nuhmudira's Bestowment (+5 to Magic Defense)
Blue Gorgets:
Level IV spells and Nuhmudira's Bestowment (+10 to Magic Defense)
Red Gorgets:
Level V spells and Nuhmudira's Bestowment (+15 to Magic Defense)
The Red Gorgets are used
to be one
time only, but they became repeatable during
A Perfect
Paradox! The Blue and Green Gorgets may be created once
a month. All Boons are no-drop, no-give.
Note: even though the
Storehouse guards say you can only enter once a week, you are actually able
to go through as many times as you want.
In the
Castling
patch, the
Arcane Lore difficulty on the Gorgets
was lowered to Red (High) = 180, Blue (Mid) = 150, and Green (Low) =
120.
