From the Fever Dreams event.

Note: Updated during Across the Vast Divide. See this post for details!

WARNING: Drum parts may be given until they have been crafted. Do NOT give your trunk or hide to a trade mule to craft; they will be unable to return it to you. Using the whittling knife or noodle cutter has no skill check or fail rate. No special skills are necessary. Making the drum is not level restricted; however, you must be level 50+ to wield.

During the Fever Dreams event, Aun Tumeroks expanded into Osteth from Marae Lassel.

Aun Saritea shivers and barely suppresses a sneeze.

To begin the quest, find the Tumerok Camp at 82.7N, 21.2E near Celdiseth's cottage. To reach the camp you can either use Celdiseth's Portal Gem, or you can take the Dagger Vale Settlement Portal from Arwic at 32.9N, 59.4E. You'll exit at 83.3N, 28.8E, just a short run from the camp.

Aun Saritea tells you, "I stand here to protect my Aun brothers while they fullfill the mission entrusted to them by Shimauri. Our ancient rivalry with the Hea still stands, and I have seen untold numbers of their xuta during our tour of this land. It shall be as I have sworn: they shall not stray near our small akiekie while I am on guard."

Aun Aulakhe tells you, "My father, Aun Shimauri, sent me to the mainland to accomplish a great mission for our xuta. At the moment, I must still ponder on how I will fullfill it. For now, perhaps you should speak to Aun Tikakhe--he has a proposition that might interest you greatly."

When you speak to Aun Kikakhe, you'll receive instructions to gather the Hide of a Dread Mattekar, the Hide of a Fire Auroch and the Tree Trunk of an Oak Golem. These parts will be combined into a drum.

Aun Tikakhe tells you, "When Aulakhe first came and told me he was leaving Timaru, I knew I could not let him go alone. We have journeyed across the breadth of Dereth on our quest, and I have seen much that could be used to create semblances of the items we had back on Palenqual."

Aun Tikakhe tells you, "If you would like to make a drum nearly like the one you see in my hands, you must also travel across this land to find the spirits who have agreed to contribute to the creations of these Buadrens."

Aun Tikakhe tells you, "When we trekked across the Mountains of the South on our way to find the great Aualuan Kenchaua, Dread Mattekar pledged his hides to form Buadren's head."

Aun Tikakhe tells you, "When we traveled up through the Deserts and over to the Plains of the Northwest, Fire Auroch pledged his hides to form Buadren's sinews."

Aun Tikakhe tells you, "When we finally settled here, near the akiekie of Aula's new ani, Ispar Celdisethaua, mighty Oak promised his limbs to form Buadren's body."

Aun Tikakhe tells you, "Once you assemble these three gifts, give the hide of Dread Mattekar to me. I will inspect it for its imperfections--if it is perfect, I will give you a fragrant oil brought from Timaru to tan it into a supple drumskin. Tanae speed your hunt, friend."

Find and kill Oak Golems (North Eastern Woods areas, Mt. Esper, Neydisa and Stonehold areas) till you find a Trunk. Use a whittling knife on the Tree Trunk to receive a Hollowed-Out Tree Trunk (Fletching is not required. Anyone can complete this step). Click here for a list of vendors who sell Whittling Knives.

You quickly hollow out the tree trunk.

Next you'll need a Dread Mattekar Hide off a Dread Mattekar. The Lugian spawns for the Arm, Mind and Heart quest are a good source for Dread Mattekars. They can also be found in the Linvak Range and near the Crater. Take the Hide back to Aun Tikakhe at the Tumerok Camp (82.7N, 21.0E). When you hand it to him, you'll receive it back with some Tanning Oil.

You give Aun Tikakhe Dread Mattekar Hide.
Tikakhe inspects the hide for any small imperfections and finds none.

Aun Tikakhe tells you, "This hide will do nicely to create a drumhead for your buadren. Use this Tanning Oil on it to make it into a suitable leather. Once you complete your drum, give it to me and I will enjoin mighty Oak to infuse it with his keh."

Aun Tikakhe gives you Tanning Oil.
Aun Tikakhe gives you Dread Mattekar Hide.

Use the Oil on the Hide to create the Tanned Mattekar Hide.

You expertly tan the Mattekar Hide.

Next, combine the Tanned Hide with the Hollowed-Out Tree Trunk to create the Wrapped Hollowed-Out Tree Trunk.

You wrap the Hollow Trunk with the Tanned Mattekar Hide.

For the next step you'll need the Hide off a Fire Auroch. Fire Aurochs can usually be found between Glenden Wood and Fort Witshire, and also near the Plateau. Use a Noodle Cutter on the hide to create the Leather Straps. Click here for a list of vendors who sell Noodle Cutters.

You quickly cut the Fire Auroch Hide into Leather Straps.

Combine the Leather Straps with the Wrapped Trunk to create your Buadren!

You secure the Leather Straps to the Wrapped Trunk to create a Buadren.

Give the crafted Baudren to Aun Tikakhe to examine and he'll invoke the spirits of the creatures used to create it to give it its power of Heart of Oak (adds 20 points to self, may be layered). You will also find out why the Aun have traveled so far from home. They seek help to help free the warrior
Aun Tanua who has been captured by the Virindi. Creating the Buadren was a test that proves you are worthy to complete that brave mission.

You give Aun Tikakhe Buadren.
Tikakhe slowly turns the buadren over in his hands, inspecting every detail.

Aun Tikakhe tells you, "The spirits of this land are indeed generous. I could not have made a better buadren myself. Wait one moment, while I invoke the keh of mighty Oak!"

Beating gently upon the buadren you just gave him, Tikakhe slowly murmurs a prayer to the anima of his choosing. A quiet descends upon the forest, and the trees themselves seem to listen to Tikakhe's call.
Abruptly, a soft glow permeates the drum, and is gone as suddenly as it came.
Aun Tikakhe tells you, "My work is done."

Aun Tikakhe tells you, "Before I give you this Buadren, I must tell you that this was merely a test, to prove to us that you are the strong and capable warrior that we have journeyed from Palenqual to find.
Aun Aulakhe has undertaken a grave mission for our people, and we shall not return to our beloved Timaru until it is accomplished. Speak to him now--I will let him know that you have been chosen."

Aun Saritea stands protectively in front of his fledgling akiekie.

Aun Tikakhe pauses a moment and decides to take you into his confidence.

Aun Tikakhe tells you, "Although he is still young and untested, my heart believes Aulakhe is destined one day to become one of the most gifted of our Aulauan, surpassing even his father, Shimauri. It would do you well to guard this buadren safely--there may come a time when Aulakhe may be able to enhance it once more."

Aun Tikakhe gives you Buadren.

Note: the Carved Trunk, Treated Pelt and Buadren are all no drop, no give.

Arcane Lore is required to activate the drum's spell and you must be level 50+ to wield it.

If you'd like to accept the challenge to attempt to free Aun Tanua and to upgrade your Buadren at the same time, you can complete the Portal Space quest for the Invoker!
