From the
Dark
Majesty expansion.
If you travel to Greenspire on Marae Lassel, you'll find
Britana at 43.0N, 66.7W.
(From
Shortcuts:
take the Greenspire Portal from either E Yaraq
- 21.3S, 1.5E, Shoushi - 36.9S, 75.7E,
or Rithwic - 11.1N, 59.6E).
Britana speaks of a legendary beast that roams the northern coasts of the
island: the Canescent Mattekar. She claims that if you bring her its hide,
she can craft a robe that puts the coveted Hoary Mattekar Robe to shame.
Britana tells you, "Greetings brave adventurer! My name is Britana, perhaps you've heard of my...never mind, he isn't important anyway. What is important is have I got a deal for you! Perhaps you have heard of a small fashion accessory...The Hoary Mattekar Robe? Yes, I am sure you have. Well, unlike some other who seek to perpetuate fraud upon the Isparian public with cheap knockoffs, Britana only provides the real thing."
Britana tells you, "I have come to this island upon hearing reports of a great white beast that stalks its northern coasts. Rumor has it this is a Mattekar straight out of legend, come to rid the island of its troublesome denizens. Which denizens, you ask? Legend does not say."
Britana tells you, "But what I say is that a Mattekar this large and strong must produce a robe which makes the Hoary robe seem like a bath rug! Bring me this mattekar pelt, and I will craft you a robe fit for a king!"
You can also purchase rumors
from Micon Stuvis in Redspire (introduced during
Pillars
Made of Sand.)
Rumor:
Canescent Mattekar
Rumor:
Britana
To reach the northern areas
of Marae Lassel, take the Northern Manumet Plains Portal
from Plateau Village at 44.5N, 41.8W
or from Bluespire at 42.0N, 77.6W (Plateau - Levels 25+).
The Ahurenga Portal can be accessed via Stonehold
at 68.6N, 20.7W or from Redspire at 41.0N, 83.6W.
Be cautious! The local creatures -- Azeal Zefirs, Vapor Golems, Plated
Tuskers and more -- are deadly!
Canescent Mattekars
are level 85 and are vulnerable to Piercing and Fire. Once you have your Canescent Mattekar Pelt,
take it back to Britana. She'll tell you that it needs to be treated before
Mazur can work with it.
You
allow Britana to examine your Canescent Mattekar Pelt.
Britana tells you, "Wonderful! You found one! Ummm,
unfortunately, Mazur has brought a small problem to my attention. As I
mentioned when I first saw you, this is a fine and strong pelt. A little too
strong, in fact. Mazur is unable to tan the hide with his existing tools.
However, he informs me that if one were to use some form of strong acid on
the hide, that he should be able to treat the hide and fashion it into
something very useful! Good hunting!"
You will need to treat the pelt with either a Vial of
Organic Grievver Acid or with Olthoi Ichor. Pelts treated with Acid will
result in a blue robe with AL: 120 and average elemental protections across
the board. Pelts treated with Ichor return red robes with AL: 130 and above
average elemental protections, but with the trade-off of poor protection
against the other attacks.
Organic Acid (see
Hieromancer's Armor) drops at a rate of 1% from
Virulent Grievvers and
3% from Harrower and
Bane Grievvers. They can be found in the Direlands, or
you may choose to take a stroll through
Bael'Zharon's
Lair! ;-) Click on the links above for other suggested hunting areas.
Olthoi Ichor drops from
Olthoi
Legionaries or
Eviscerators.
Suggested hunting areas are the
Lair of the
Eviscerators at 53.7N, 76.6W or the
Empyrean
Propylaeum dungeons near the old Essences.
Click on the olthoi links above for other suggested hunting areas. Both the Acid and
the Ichor cannot be dropped or given.
Take your Acid or Ichor
back to Greenspire.
You
allow Britana to examine your Olthoi Ichor.
Britana tells you, "This smells awful! Take it away
from here! Use it on your mattekar pelt and give the pelt to Mazur. Go, go!"
You allow Britana to examine your Vial of Organic
Acid.
Britana tells you, "Ecch. I don't need this. Use this
on your mattekar pelt, and then give the pelt to Mazur. Do I look like a
craftsperson to you?"
Use the Ichor or Acid and
hand your Treated Canescent Mattekar Pelt back to Britana for further
instructions.
You
successfully apply the acid to the mattekar pelt.
You give Britana Treated Canescent Mattekar Pelt.
Britana tells you, "Well, you found the acid. Congratulations. Oh, you don't expect me to do the actual crafting do you? That is why I have Mazur. He will give you your prize. Just remember Britana always delivers!
Britana gies you treated Canescent Mattekar Pelt.
Britana's assistant,
Mazur ibn Stounis, is close by at 42.9N, 66.7W. Hand him your treated pelt and you
will receive your Canescent Mattekar Robe in return!
Mazur ibn
Stounis tells, you, "Yes, I have agreed to help Britana in her quest
to fashion a new Hoary Mattekar Robe. I don't know where this new Mattekar
is rumored to be, you would have to ask Britana. I have to admit, I had
never encountered a woman like Britana before back in my home village. She
is quite the woman."
You give
Mazur ibn Stouni Treated Canescent Mattekar Pelt.
Original Response:
Mazur ibn Stouni tells you, "You have suceeded in your quest. Here is you Canescent Mattekar Robe."
Mazur ibn Stouni tells you, "I am worried about Britana. Lately she talks not so much about fame and fortune, but about love. I tried to ask her to take a walk out in the moonlight, but she said she did not have time. Perhaps tomorrow."
Mazur ibn Stouni gives you Canescent Mattekar Robe.
Current Response:
Mazur ibn Stounis tells you, "You have succeeded in
your quest. Here is your Canescent Mattekar Robe. By the way, have you seen
where Britana goes late at night? I think she is out walking with
another...never mind, I am sorry to trouble you."
Mazur ibn Stounis gives you Canescent Mattekar Robe.
When first introduced,
Treated Pelts and
finished Canescent Mattekar Robes
were no-drop,
no-give. (Un-treated pelts may be traded or given away.)
During A
Small Victory, the robes were updated so that they were no longer
Attuned. During
All That
They Survey, the Ivoryable property was also removed.
When the robes were
originally released during the Dark Majesty expansion, they were styled in
the fashion of the Hoary Mattekar Robe (colored light blue and coral).
During The
Gathering Storm event, the robes were updated with the version that was
originally intended to go in at release. If you removed your old version
robe, it was replaced in your inventory by the new version. A few rare
players were able to keep the old version by choosing to never remove their
robes, ever! They remained the height of enviable fashion, but, well... I hate
to say it, but... they were starting to smell. ;-)
During
From the
Darkness Born, a new tailor came to town and took pity on the smelly
robe wearers. He made it possible for the newer robes to be restyled into
their original form!
Balarazo in Greenspire - 42.9N, 66.7W
Balarazo tells you,
"Hello, my name is Balarazo. I am a traveling tailor, but I have decided to
make my home here in Greenspire."
Balarazo tells you, "I noticed there was a stockpile of older Canescent robe
patterns laying around here. If you have a new or old style Canescent robe,
I will gladly exchange it for you, free of charge!"
You give Balarazo Canescent Mattekar Robe.
Balarazo tells you, "Ah, a fine robe - but the style
is just too wild for my tastes. Let's see here, I know I have one of those
older patterns lying around somewhere..."
Balarazo tells you, "Ah! Here you go!"
Balarazo gives you Canescent Mattekar Robe.
You can also have him change it back to the newer
style!
You give Balarazo Canescent Mattekar Robe.
Balarazo tells you, "So you'd rather have the newer
style? Can't say I agree with you, but a deal is a deal!"
Balarazo gives you Canescent Mattekar Robe.
Balarazo tells you, "Enjoy!"
