Frore
Quest presented by special request To
begin the Frore quest you must collect three transcripts from the Standing Stones.
The first standing stone is
locked. You need a Lich Seal -- a medallion with a skull imprint stating "use on a locked standing stone to unlock it"-- to open it. Seals can be gotten from Lich Lords or
Revenants. You may have to kill a lot
of Liches before you find a seal.
The standing stone is located east
of the Bandit Castle (66.1N x 51.4E) near the peak of the large mountain. Stand in the gate of the Bandit
Castle facing the mountains. Climb the steep cliff you see. You will find the stone atop
the peak, where you have the best view of the prison.
Only the first Stone is locked. The second stone
containing the second part of the transcript is located WSW of Nydisa Castle (69.2N x
15.3E), again near the peak of a mountain. Look for the low cliffs due west and climb
them. Look again for cliffs and for an area that seems to have only one way up.
The last transcript is near Stonehold (72.0N x 22.0W). Head north of the Rat Tower to the
peak of the closest mountain. The standing stone is atop, in a thick wooded area.
*IMPORTANT*
Combine the three pieces into one, using them on each other as you would in alchemy
or fletching.
Take the newly combined transcript to the translator in
Zaikhal. In return, the Translator will give you the Gelidite Transcript.
Take the translated Gelidite transcript to the lady at
Plateau Village (44.2N x 43.3W). In exchange, she will give you a key to the chest at the
end of Frore and will open a portal to Frore. (This portal cannot be summoned, but you can
tie to it.) You will arrive at the top of a mountain peak, with sheer drops off all sides.
You will take considerable damage on the jump down, so make sure your jump skill is
decent. You must be level 20+ to enter.
Once in, be careful not to die, because you will be unable to get back inside.
You will need at least 2 people to
open a set of doors on the way in, and you will need lockpick to open the remainder of the doors
inside.
Frore is cold! You will take cold damage continually, so buff your cold protection,
wear your matty coat and bring a healer or heal kits with you. The first part of Frore is
like a maze that loops. Take lefts inside the cavern, and keep making lefts.
You will encounter: ice golems
(right at the entrance), undead, zombie-like Initiates, Mountain Rats, Gelidite
Lords who cast high level magic, and more ice golems.
During the Sudden Season, Frore
contained two level 80+ undead, and the Great Work, which has since been destroyed.
Tremblant's Ivory Staff is also no longer available.
The chest is in the small
building on the right wall, furtherst down at the end of Frore. The Ice
Heaume, Hammer, Robe all spawn in the chest. The chest is unpickable and must be opened
with the key (1 use). The Robe is a no-drop item, so make sure the right
person uses the key on the chest. (The Robe, however, can be lost at death.) |

Tip: To open the door at the entrance of
Frore, you will need to pick the lock of the first door (have a friend standing by to open it for you.) Take the first portal and run over to the switches. When you've hit all three switches, run back, get through the door and
you will see the last gate, and the portal to Frore Proper.
Tip: Make sure you have
"Let other players give you items" checked in your Options panel during quests!
They often involve exchanges.
[Corrected in update. NPC characters will now give quest items even if the option
is not selected.] |
