Peace on earth and goodwill toward all is a nice sentiment for the holidays, indeed. But peace on earth, goodwill towards all and presents is even better!! And just so we know this Derethian Santa hasn't gone all soft on us from her untidy history of torturing Isparians, you also have an opportunity to be the recipient of a lump of coal!

When you click on the gift box in various towns, you'll be instructed to speak to a nearby student. Note: During The Slumbering Giant event, a new student, Anasha, appeared in the SW tower of Arwic (33.3N, 56.5E). She is now the only student used for the quest.

Anasha tells you, "Greetings. I am a student of Nuhmudira. Nuhmudira is delving into the lore of Lifestones. She has sent me to enlist the services of Isparians in obtaining some rare compounds and crystals. Several types are important to this research- Iolite gems, Chrysoberyl compound and Daichroic crystals."

Anasha tells you, "I have an Iolite gem which was delivered to me by mistake. It must go elsewhere. If I could impose on you to deliver this Iolite gem to my colleague Aun Paritea he can tell you where to obtain the Chrysoberyl compound and the Daichroic crystals. To find Aun Paritea, go through the Tia-Leh Homestead portal which is in the Hebian-to settlement portals array. Aun Paritea is just south of the Tia-Leh Homestead. When you obtain them, please bring the Daichroic crystals to me or any of my colleagues that are in other towns. You shall then be granted access to the gift container Nuhmudira has placed nearby. I wish you safe tidings."
Anasha gives you Iolite Gem.

If you speak with the Anasha again after being given your gem, she will repeat the directions for you:

Anasha tells you, "Are you at a loss as to where to find Aun Paritea and deliver the Iolite gem? Go through the Tia-Leh Homestead portal which is in the Hebian-to settlement portals array."

The Hebian-To Settlement portals are located at 41.5S, 82.1E. The Tai-Leh Homestead portal exits at 27.9N, 28.8W, a short run from Aun Paritea, found at 26.6N, 28.6W. Give the Iolite Gem to the Tumerok for further instructions.

You give Aun Paritea Iolite Gem.
Aun Paritea tells you, "Thank you! I have been waiting for more of these gems. I will see this gets to Nuhmudira. You may be aware that Iolite is said to increase spiritual insight and help in seeing both sides of an issue more clearly."

Aun Paritea tells you, "My fellow student who you obtained this from may also have told you that Chrysoberyl compound is needed. The portal over there will take you to what we call the Spirit Cell. Within you should find some Chrysoberyl compound. Please bring some to me."

The Portal Spirit Cell is right behind Aun Paritea at 26.5N, 28.5W (no level restrictions). The hallways inside are full of bright mist, and glare so bright you're practically going through blind. You're looking for An Ancient Chest (use [ to cycle items). To find the chest, go north until you hit the wall, then go east until you hit the next wall. Repeat until you reach the chest. Inside you'll find the Chrysoberyl Compound. For an easy exit, you can use portal recall to return back to the entrance and take the exit portal back to the surface.

You give Aun Paritea Chrysoberyl compound.
Aun Paritea tells you, "I am happy you have succeeded. Now, I am sure you have been informed as to how important Daichroic crystals are to Numhudira's research. There are several ancient mines in which Daichroic crystals are yet stored. There is a portal on a hill north of the town of Holtburg. From that portal you may begin this final pursuit. You will discover direct portals to the mine at its destination- you should enter the mine portal appropriate to your abilities. Bring the crystal to one of my colleagues who have been dispatched to some of the towns."

The Access to the Crystal Mines portal is outside Holtburg at 46.8N, 30.5E. A Lugian, Tornash, guards the entrance.

Tornash tells you, "Greetings. I assume my fellow students have sent you to obtain Daichroic crystals. If you are pure of heart and strong of bone you should be successful in navigating the perils beyond this portal."

When you go through the Access portal (no restrictions), you'll exit high in the air on a floating platform (70.5N, 8.1W). Below you are 5 other platform, each with a portal to one of the mines. You'll need to jump from platform to platform to reach the one that corresponds to your level. The first (New Isparian) can be reached safely by standing on the edge and holding the shift key down while you jump. The next several platforms require a little more skill and use varying tap jumps. Use your overhead view to navigate.

If you fall, there's a portal below which takes you back to the top platform. Be careful; it's a long way down!

You must make your way through the mine to a final room containing two chests. The Crystal is inside.

Wood, Mud and Sandstone Golems.

--Crystal Mine Low, 20-39 (green)
Sand & Copper Golems, Granite Golems and Iron Golems at the bottom.

--Crystal Mine Mid, 40 - 59 (yellow)
Iron and Granite Golems, then Glacial and Iron Golems lower down. Final level has Obsidian, Iron and Glacial Golems.

--Crystal Mine High, 60-79 (red)
This dungeon is filled with Obsidian and Oak Golems. Keep heading left and down. The bottom is full of numerous Magma Golems on a fast spawn. Bring a big group and plenty of heal potions!

--Crystal Mine Extreme, 80+ (white)
You'll be fighting Plasma Golems, Vapor Golems, Pyreal Golems, and Platinum Golems.

The layouts to the dungeons are identical. Simply hug the left wall and continue down several ramps until you reach a small room ending in a T. Take the east passage out of the room, and make an immediate right at the split. Again, just keep to the left all the way to the final room. The final spawns are very fast and can be challenging. The crystal spawns in a chest in the NW corner of the final room. After retrieving your crystal, you can recall out or take the exit portal down the southern corridor from the room to the west.

When you have your Crystal, return it to the Anasha. Previously, using the gift box would give you your your reward! Now, Anasha hands it to you directly. You will receive a random selection of the items to the right. You may receive one item or several.

Anasha tells you, "Thank you for your assistance in obtaining this Daichroic Crystal for Nuhmudira. I now grant you access to the gift container. Nuhmudira may require more of these materials in about four days if you wish
to undertake this task again."

Anasha gives you A Lump of Coal.
Anasha gives you Bludgeon Protection Gem.
Anasha gives you Abandoned Mines Portal Sending Gem.
Anasha gives you Tall Stocking Cap.
Anasha gives you Gem of Dispersal.
Anasha gives you Armor Protection Gem.
