Yes, it's the Ash Gromnie
tooth quest. No, there's no such thing as the Broken Katar. The Tooth
Do a little dentistry, then give your Ash Gromnie tooth to an ivory crafter in
exchange for a letter of introduction. You can take the tooth to any ivory crafter;
however, the one in Zaikhal (13.8N x 0.7E -- 2nd flr.) appears to be the most popular
because of the proximity to:
Devana (12.9N x .4E)
Give Devana the letter of introduction and in exchange, she will give you a key (2
uses only) to Hamud's Chamber and a letter of introduction to her father:
Hamud
Hamud is located in the Mountain Fortress south of Qalaba'r 82.4S x 19.9E. This is
the tougher part of the quest! The upper levels of the dungeon contain Zephyrs and
Shadows. When you get to Hamud's Chamber at the bottom (stay left), you will run into more
Shadows and a few Lieutenants. Hamud is behind the 2nd locked door. FYI to the Lore
junkies: Hamud's Chamber also contains a few texts. The exit from the dungeon is out the
back door of the Chamber. Before you go, give Hamud the letter, and he will give you a key
to:
The Empyrean Foundry
25.2S x 54.2E -- outside Sawato
An ancient pyreal dagger spawns (approx. every 23 minutes) on
the floor in the Anvil room at the bottom level of the Foundry. It is guarded by a group
of sclavi and the even more fearsome
campers! Once you have your dagger, you must
return to the Mountain Fortress and use your key for the 2nd time to deliver the dagger to
Hamud. In return, you will receive your fancy new:
Pyreal Katar
Katars received before the patch may be a different color than the pretty pyreal
green they are now. The Katar is no-drop.
Oswald's Dagger
The Hamud quest changed during the Thorns of the Hopeslayer event. Hamud was
transformed into a Shadow, and an additional step and quest item was introduced. Now, when
you give Devana the Ash Tooth Dagger, she'll instruct you to bring back word from her
father.
At the end of the quest, Hamud, in addition to giving you
the katar, will also give you Hamud's Last Testament. Take this letter back to Devana and
she'll reward you with Oswald's Dagger. |

Certain items are not always no-drop,
no-give. Check out the screen shot of Danier tipping Hamud, by handing him his SoLL and
Katar, just to see what would happen. Oops! No, Hamud didn't give them back! |
