A frantic message on the
boards
helped everyone to understand several aspects of the mysterious Chorizite's properties:
"Chozrite: how do I get rid of it?!??!?!" Poor Ganthalas had industriously mined 22 Chunks
of the low grade ore in the Lugian Mines (73.9S x 39.0E) before realizing three things: it
was very heavy; it was no-drop; you could only use one chunk per person.
(Of course you can always get rid of any item by handing it to a town
crier.)
Note: For a
shortcut to the Lugian Mines, take the Southern Park Settlement Portal from
Qalaba'r (74.8S, 17.8E). You'll exit at 75.8S, 37.0E, a short run from the
Mines. Thanks to Pyro the Slasher of MT for the update!
Of course if he had read Alistair
Loquacious' book, Concerning the Revelations
of Anti-Magic , he would have come across this passage: "The mineral seems to be
unusually dense, almost impractically so."
He would also have learned about another special quality of
the ore. It repels magic. Weapons forged from Corizite can't be enchanted, and completely
ignore modified armor and protections. (Is it now possible for a melee fighter to survive
Darktide? :)
The low-grade Chorizite produces Hollow Weapons. To begin,
you'll need to acquire your Lugian Pick Axe from an obliging Amploth to mine the ore. Use
the pick axe on the deposit in the Lugian
Mines (73.9S x 39.0E) to extract your ore.

To reach a deposit, keep heading south. After
heading down a ramp you'll reach a large open room. You can reach deposits
at the ends of either route exiting this room. Use the pick axe on the
deposit to extract your ore.
After you have your chunk (just one!) take it
to Feruza ibn Salaq (76.0N, 49.1W) to have it
refined. For a

Settlement Portal
from Mayoi at 60.8S, 80.3E.
This drops you at 74.4N,
46.3W, a very
short run to to Feruza's
Beach Fort.
Gondo Kanezo's work, Practical Applications of
Chorizite, tells us that the ore needs unusually high heat to shape the metal. Hmmm.
Where in the world could we find such a thing? A hot place to forge weapons. Hmmm.
Ya, that's right! Silencia's Magma Golem at the Crater!
Portalling to the crater is the easiest way to travel, but if
you need to travel by land, come in from the southwest. Look for two stone pillars topped
by fire (65.2N x 10.5E). Wear your fire protective clothing and look for the narrow
"V" slot in the wall of the crater. Run like hell through the entrance, past the
flammas and flares, and keep going, bearing right. Crater Village is located counter
clockwise around the lake at 64.8N x 13.6E. (With the
advent of the Housing Portals, there is now an even easier route. Visit the

Silencia stands with her pet golem on the top
floor of the tower near the lifestone.
This is one highly skilled golem. He is very versatile and will work
with all kinds
of Dereth's strange metals. Of course you'll need to buy a glyph to combine with your
refined ore so the golem knows what shaped weapon you want. The Magma Golem will give you
your Hollow weapon in return for the stamped glyph! Since one size fits all, no skill
check is required. The Hollow weapons, like the ore, are no-drop. Plus they're pretty.
Getting Home
There are several exits portals from the Crater. Hilltop near
Glendon Wood 64.8N x 13.6E and to a Sho Roadside, North of Shoushi 64.9N x 13.6. You can
also take one to Crater Pathway 64.8N x 13.6E, but watch out for wisps.
There is also a ring of settlement portals nearby.
Higher quality Chorizite can be used to make Ravenous Weapons!
