East Outpost - Theories About Wings
Ercel the Wing Collector, a scholarly fellow, resides at the East Lytelthorpe Outpost (0.9 N, 54.2 E). He's spent his days studying the Phyntos Wasps of Dereth. Sadly, however, he's lost the book he was writing in some old ruins. (These NPCs can't seem to hold on to anything, can they? ;) If you find his missing book, he'll give you some experience as a reward and will also give you a recommendation to take to Lord Aleval at Lytelthorpe Keep for further adventures.

Ercel the Wing Collector tells you, "I study wings. I have a collection of them, but I need more phyntos wasp wings in good condition. If you bring me any I'll pay you."
Ercel the Wing Collector tells you, "I'm writing a book on the subject, but alas, I lost it in the ruins east of here. Now I must start all over again! If you ever find my book please bring it to me."
Ercel the Wing Collector tells you, "To get to the ruins, follow the pillars going east. Please hurry before the creatures destroy my book."
Ercel the Wing Collector tells you, "Oh, once in the ruins, try to find the trail of rocks."

Map: Forgotten Temple

The stone pillars to the east lead to the
Forgotten Temple (0.9N, 55.8E no level restrictions), a low level dungeon full of drudges and the occasional Red Wasp and Shreth. Inside, as Ercel instructs, follow the path of small stones on the ground. When you first enter the dungeon make a right, then a right again down a ramp. You'll enter a large room with a Revitalize Other I Fountain. You'll have to fight your way past a Drudge Slinker, a Sneaker and a Prowler.

Take the passageway directly across the fountain and go up and through a door. Follow the stones further until the dungeon turns from green to brown. As you head deeper, keep following the stone path until you come to a gated door guarded by a Drudge Skulker and a Gnawer Shreth. Inside you'll find the chest containing Ercel's book,
Theories About Wings, guarded by another Shreth and a Red Wasp (24 hour timer).

Ercel obviously hasn't been to Aerlinthe Island or the Vesayen Isles where new varieties of ferocious wasps have been discovered: the White Phyntos Wasp and the Jungle Pyntos Wasp! Imagine how excited he'll be to find out about them!

Return the book to Ercel at the East Outpost and he'll give you your reward.

You give Ercel the Wing Collector Theories about Wings.
Ercel the Wing Collector tells you, "Oh, I'm so relieved that my book isn't damaged. You've saved me months of work."
You've earned 2000 experience.
Ercel the Wing Collector gives you Ercel's recommendation letter.

Ercel the Wing Collector tells you, "Perhaps you could help my friend Beltslora in West Lytelthorpe. Lord Aleval at Lytelthorpe Keep is always looking for adventurers too. I'll give you my recommendation to take to him."

Ercel's recommendation letter
"Lord Aleveal,
This adventurer found my book. Now I can continue in my work. I'm sending my recommendation to you since I know you're always looking for intrepid young people.

- Ercel"

West Outpost - Beltslora's Pretty Shirt
Beltslora the Collector says, "I hate this grey shirt. I don't look good in it."

Even the NPCs of Dereth like to look their best! When you retrieve Beltslora's favorite shirt from the caves to the north where she used to live, you'll understand why she misses wearing it. It's pretty! Speak with this fashion conscious Collector at the West Lytelthorpe Outpost (1.0N, 48.3E) for directions on recovering the lost article of clothing.

Beltslora the Collector tells you, "Many of us used to live in the caves to the north because this area was full of nasty creatures. But we drove them out and built Lytelthorpe here."
Beltslora the Collector tells you, "Now the monsters have retreated into the caves where we once lived. Unfortunately, I accidentally left my favorite shirt there. Maybe you could get it for me."
Beltslora the Collector tells you, "To get to the cave we lived in, follow the line of apple trees directly north of here. Be careful if you go there, and follow the line of candles."

Map: Ruined Cave Outpost

Follow the line of apple trees to The Ruined Cave Outpost (2.3N, 48.3E restricted to levels 1-20). Inside you'll encounter the numerous Drudges who have taken up residence there. As Beltslora instructs, follow the line of candles down a passage to a gated door. Once through the door, you'll head past a long narrow room with a few drudges and newbie chests to the sleeping chambers of the previous residents. The numerous rooms may be confusing, so you may consider bringing a friend along to help fight the drudges as you explore. The room you're looking for has a candle stationed outside the door and is approximately the second chamber on the left.

The two chests inside are guarded by a Drudge Sneaker and a Drudge Skulker. The one on the left contains the Pretty Shirt (24 hour timer).

It's tempting to want to keep the shirt, with its attractive embroidery on the collar, for yourself. But do the right thing and return it to Beltslora back at the Outpost. It's so seldom anyone comes by who can open a portal to the Hub (Subway) for her so she could trade for some nicer clothes. It's a shame to keep her in that old grey shirt that she detests. As you might expect, she's very grateful for the return of her favorite shirt!

You give Beltslora the Collector Beltslora's Pretty Shirt.
Beltslora the Collector tells you, "This is amazing! It isn't even torn. Thank you!"
You've earned 2000 experience.
Beltslora the Collector tells you, "Maybe you could help my friend Ercel in East Lytelthorpe Outpost. He's been moaning about a book he lost. And I'll write you a letter of recommendation to take to Lord Aleval in Lytelthorpe proper. He's always looking for adventurers."
Beltslora the Collector gives you Beltslora's recommendation letter.

Beltslora's recommendation letter
"Dear Lord Aleval,
You remember the caves we lived in before Lytelthorpe was built? This adventurer braved them to bring me my best shirt back! I know you're always looking for bright young people to protect Lytelthorpe, so I'm sending my recommendation of this one.

Sincerely yours,
Beltslora"

Lost Distillery
When you bring Lord Aleval a Recommendation Letter from either Ercel or Beltslora, he will give a key to the Lost Distillery where you can recover some Nectar and some of the coveted Distillery Ambrosia, locked deep within the cellars. Return these tasty beverages for a reward! Lord Aleval is also Lytelthorpe's Society Agent for the Exploration Society Letter Quests.

Lord Aleval tells you, "By the way -- if you haven't yet done so, you might want to visit Beltslora at the West Outpost, or Ercel at the East Outpost. They often have tasks for young adventurers."

You give Lord Aleval Ercel's recommendation letter.

Lord Aleval tells you, "That Ercel, always thinking about the sky instead of what's going on on the ground. Perhaps you could help me also."
Lord Aleval tells you, "There are monsters in the old distillery to the south of town. Come to think of it, there hasn't been anything good to drink here ever since the distillery was overrun."
Lord Aleval tells you, "If you could retrieve a bottle of distillery nectar for me I would greatly appreciate it."

Lord Aleval gives you Key from Aleval.

You give Lord Aleval Beltslora's recommendation letter.
Lord Aleval tells you, "Ah, I see you've helped Beltslora, perhaps you could help me also. There are monsters in the old distillery to the south of town."
Lord Aleval tells you, "Come to think of it, there hasn't been anything good to drink here ever since the distillery was overrun. If you could retrieve a bottle of distillery nectar for me I would greatly appreciate it."

Lord Aleval gives you Key from Aleval.

Map: Lost Distillery

Lord Aleval says he'd go himself if he could. But it's probably a good thing he's too high a level to enter the Distillery. If you watch him for a while, you'll see that he pretty much hangs out on the top of that tower, drinking Nectar and Ambrosia all day! ;) The
Lost Distillery (0.7S, 51.2E) is restricted to Levels 1-20. You can buy directions from Glyfoma the Scribe in town.

When you enter, you'll have the choice of two passageways. The left passage leads down to room with several Gnawer Shreths. Around a corner you'll see a chest guarded by a few drudges. Although that has some nice newbie loot, it's not the chest you're looking for. Instead, take the right passage down, fighting the occasional drudge, until you reach a wooden door. This door opens into a large room with huge wooden pillars. The nectar is in a chest guarded by a Drudge Prowler over by a table to the left (24 hour timer)

Bring the Nectar to Lord Aleval for both a reward and instructions for an additional task. (Of get both the nectar and the ambrosia before returning to save a little running!)

You give Lord Aleval Distillery Nectar.
Lord Aleval tells you, "Thank you! We don't know who built the distillery, but it must be very old. The stuff we have tried making isn't as good as some of the mysterious stuff we found in it."
Lord Aleval tells you, "At the very bottom is a cellar where the best ancient drinks were found. The key I gave you earlier should open it. If you bring me back a bottle of distillery ambrosia, I will reward you well."

Lord Aleval gives you 200 Pyreals.
Lord Aleval gives you 2 Potions of Healing.
You've earned 3000 experience.

To get to the cellars, return to the room which had the Nectar Chest. Head to the far back wall, and you'll find the locked door. Use the Key From Aleval to open the door, then head down to the lower levels. You'll be fighting Gnawer Shreths and low level drudges. A Note From Aleval outside the door reads: "This door locked by order of Lord Aleval of Lytelthorpe."

When you get to the lowest level, you'll see a few sets of doors against the far wall. The room holding the Distillery Ambrosia is through the door to the far right. Inside, a Drudge Prowler guards the chest (24 hour timer).
Return it to Lord Aleval for your reward.

You give Lord Aleval Distillery Ambrosia.
Lord Aleval tells you, "Ah, this is a fine bottle! You have done well. Please take these presents as a token of my gratitude."

Lord Aleval gives you 200 Pyreals.
Lord Aleval gives you 2 Potions of Healing.
You've earned 3000 experience.

Distillery Dew - Floating City
The Floating City appeared during October 2000's Hollow Victory event. Random portals to the city appear in various locations around Dereth each month. The bottle of Distillery Dew can be found in a chest in the bar area. You can return the dew to Lord Aleval in Lytelthorpe for a reward!

You give Lord Aleval Distillery Dew.
Lord Aleval tells you, "Ah, a wonderful find -- the most useful and finest drink I have ever tasted! Here is something for you, thank you!"
Lord Aleval gives you 200 Pyreals. Lord Aleval gives you 2 Potions of Healing.

Until recently, Lytelthorpe was home to nothing but an infestation of Banderlings, led by Wardiel the Mighty, a human warmonger. A band of brave warriors led by Lord Aleval defeated Wardiel and drove out the Banderlings to claim the Keep as their own.
