The
text for the quest, Mnemosynes
and the Art of Lockpicking, can be found in most starter towns.
Mnemosynes
The Mnemosynes, small green triangles that
are all the rage, can be found on various undead. The Tiny have been found
on Old Bones, Skeltons, Skeleton Captains, Undead, Undead Miners and
Greater Mu-Miyahs. Smalls on Liches, Lich Lords, Dread Mu-Miyas, Ancient
Mu-Miyas, Bone Knights and Bone Lords; and Large ones on
Revenants, Relic Bones, Great Skeltons, Dark Revenants, Dark Leech & Dark Magus. Mnemosynes are no-drop and no-give.
You can also get Mnemosynes as rewards from
Casino Gambling. Click here to learn more!
The Mnemosynes will earn you experience
whether they are locked or unlocked. Unlocked Mnemosynes are worth more.
Making Keys
To make a key to unlock them, you'll need
to buy an Intricate Carving Tool in one of the starter towns (confirmed
sales in Shoushi from the bartender and from Samsur & Al-Arqas). Use the Tool
on either a Wood, Copper, or Obsidian Golem Heart to make a key. The
Lockpicking skill is require to use the tool and there's a skill check
involved. A base skill of 150 failed for a Copper Key. A base of 175 was
fairly successful. For the Obsidian Key, there have been reports of
success with a base of 175 and level VI buffs. There have also been
reports of failure on the Copper with a skill over 200. It sounds as if
the chance to fail is always possible, as with other skill checks in the
game.
Use the Keys on the Mnemosynes to unlock
them. A Wooden Key opens a Tiny; a Copper Key opens a Small, and an
Obsidian Key opens a Large. The Keys can be both dropped or given away.
For Experience
Take your Mnemosynes to the
Mnemosyne
Collection Site outside of Samsur at 2.5S, 16.4E. Inside you'll find
Saelar who tells you a bit about the history of these strange green
objects.
Saelar tells you,
"Greetings, outlander. I am Saelar of Menilesh. My master, the
great Tennar Portheran perished during the Fourth Sending, along with so
many of our people. But before he died, he set in motion a way for
our people to preserve our heritage and our memories in the face of the
recent catastrophes that have befallen the Dericost. He invented a
number of Mnemosynes, devices that allow us to record our stories and
lives in these little pyramids."
Saelar tells you, "Tennar commissioned a locksmith from among your
kind, whose name I do not know, to make these Mnemosynes lockable and to
make keys to the Mnemosynes which only Tennar would possess.
Unfortunately, I have no idea what happened to the lockpicker or his keys.
The Mnemosynes have been coming in, and I have no way of opening
them."
Saelar tells you, "But still, if you come across a Mnemosyne please
bring them to me and I will reward you well. The collection for the
larger Mnemosynes I have tasked to my assistants whom can be found through
the portal."
Saelar will give you 1000xp for a locked
Tiny, or 5000xp for an unlocked Tiny.
Saelar tells you,
"In His Name, who Walks Eternal! I never thought I would see
these unlocked. I urge you to bring me more of these unlocked
treasures, so that the Dericost society may live forever.
To redeem a Small Mnemosyne
take the portal near Saelar (Restricted to levels 15+). Inside
you'll find Hahnain.
Hahnain tells you,
"Yes? Saelar told me to expect you. Why we need to deal
with you...I will accept the Mnemosynes, but Renslem has been tasked with
collecting and sorting the largest of the Mnemosynes. He can be
found through that portal."
Hahnain will give you
5000xp for a locked Small and 25,000xp for an unlocked one.
I cannot believe that
you fledglings know how to unlock Tennar's great Mnemosynes, and Saelar
refuses to do anything about it. If Tennar were still alive...But
Saelar is a more cautious sort. Here is your reward.
For the Large Mnemosyne, you'll need to go
through the portal to the next level where Renselm can be found
(Restricted to Levels 30+).
Renselm tells you, "Hand me the Mnemosyne. You will get your
just reward."
Renselm gives you 15,000xp
for a locked Large and a whooping 75,000xp for an unlocked Large!
For Gems or Heal Kits
Mnemosynes can also be
taken the the crafters in Tufa for other rewards (13.3S, 5.1E). LOCKED REWARDS
From Anid Al-Fadee:

Large = 3 Treated Kits
From Gabal Feteh:

UNLOCKED REWARDS
From Anid Al-Fadee:
Tiny = 2 Gems of Cleansing
Small = 2 Gems of Purity
Large = 2 Gems of Stillness From Ya-Bint-Al-Hawa:
Tiny = 3 Peerless & 2 Treated
Small = 2 Peerless + 3 Treated
Large = 5 Treated Heal Kits From Gabal Feteh:
Tiny = 30 Bloodletter Arrowheads
Small = 30 Fleshripper Arrowheads
Large = 30 Soulrender Arrowheads
Treated Heal Kits are sometimes able to
heal you
to full health, even if you are down to just a few health points. However,
you can still fail to heal, just like with other kits. They've been known
to give over 200 health points with a successful heal! The Arrows & Quarrels made with these
arrowheads can only be used with Crystal Bows & Crossbows (Fenmalain, Caulnalain
& Shendolain). Anid Al-Fadee tells you, "I realize that it is dangerous to hunt the more potent Sand Kings without protection. With the proper gift, I have been authorized to grant you a gem that can disperse such maladies."
Ya-Bint-Al-Hawa tells you, "The literal translation of my name means daughter of the wind. I adopted it in honor of my mentor, who recently disappeared during a journey to Uziz."
Ya-Bint-Al-Hawa tells you, "There are healing kits even more potent than the ones dropped mainly by Lugians. The Zharalim have recently uncovered lore that enables them to treat these kits in order to make them more potent. If you trade me a memnosyne
[sic] fragment, I will reward you in turn, depending on the quality of the fragment." **Troop
confirmed that the
Arrowheads were left out of the March patch due to Tech reasons. Rewards
were tweaked in the April patch. |
