The Staff of the Nomads originally appeared during the Should the Stars Fall event. It was carried by Anadil of Shakrassekor (Level 516), one of the Great Sand Kings and leader of the Dericost forces in the campaign against the Hopeslayer and their protection of the soul stones. Anadil, accompanied by Asmolum the Worm--one time spymaster to Lord Inekkere, was slain near the Catheral at Ithaenc on the Vesayen Isles.

Anadil of Shakrassekor is incinerated by your assault!
The undead general staggers and falls to his knees, but pauses and looks up into [name'e] eyes. "Don't let it end like this, young one. If you must send me to the wind, my task is your to complete. Protect the stone."

Town Crier tells you, "News! The undead general Anadil and his spymaster Asmolum were slain at the Ithaenc Cathedral! The nomad mu-miyah of the shattered Dericostian army were seen carrying Anadil's broken form away south of Chalicmere Castle."

For a time, the Staff of the Nomads rested in Anadil's Tomb (83.0S, 93.1W). During A Perfect Paradox, this quest was updated and the staff was moved to a new location. However, a note remains behind to lead you to its new destination.

To reach the Tombs of the Sand Kings (where Garaena the Emissary can also be found), run to Sylsfear Dungeon from Al-Jalima (11.0N, 14.7E). Take your first left and head down (bear right) until you reach the lifestone-like crystal. Take the right passage and then another right past the Shadows section (Children, Lieutenants, Panumbris, Lich Lords and Revenants). You'll find a portal that drops you at a lifestone in the South Direlands (88.3S 64.5W). If you look south east you will see the set of three bunkers. Recommended level 30+.

Map: Sylsfear Dungeon

Surrounding the Tomb are Nomad Mu-Miyah, Desert Rats and possible Dires Creatures. Inside the tomb itself you'll find Guardian, Imperial (Level 105) and Nomad (Level 100) Mu-Miyah. Be careful when approaching the sarcophagus. It's guarded by a Stamina Blight Trap which will completely drain your stamina, leaving you unable to fight.

Inside, instead of the Staff parts, you will now find a note telling how one part of the splintered Staff was stolen during a Shadow raid. The other was moved to a necropolis at 49S, 54.3W for safe-keeping.

Rumor: Hastily Written Note

The Necropolis at 49S, 54.3W is quite far. Before heading there, you'll want to first run NE a short distance to the Abandoned Observatory at 86.4S, 63.8W. It's filled with Sinister and Pandemonium Shadows. A chest there contains a second note describing how the staff piece stolen by Black Ferah is now being held at a temporary staging ground, the Lightless Catacombs at 82.3S, 35.2W.

Rumor: Note

To reach the Necropolis (49.0S, 54.3W) you can take the Northwest Dires portal from Aerlinthe at 84.1N, 47.2E. Then go through the Obsidian Rim portal at 5.5N, 87.5W (Levels 35+) which exits at 48.0S, 65.0W. You'll see two tombs at the necropolis. Head to the lower level of the northern one (keep to the right). A chest guarded by a Royal Mu-miyah contains the first half of the staff (3 week timer, can't be given).

Note: You can also find a SIK chest within the Necropolis.

Next head to the Lightless Catacombs at 82.3S, 35.2W (Levels 14+). To reach the dungeon, take the South Direlands portal from Mayoi at 62.2S, 77.1E. You'll exit at 84.3S, 34.7W, just a few clicks from the dungeon.

Map: Lightless Catacombs

Inside you'll be fighting high level Shadows and Grievvers. At your first intersection, you'll see a door to the right, and 2 ramps -- one straight ahead and one to the left. Take the ramp up straight ahead. Next take the 5th passage on the right (head south) and look for the door to you left. It opens with a pressure plate. You'll be attacked by Panumbris Shadows and a Harrower Grievver. Continue down the passage and you'll enter a large room full of Pandemonium, Umbris, and a Tenebrous Shadow and another Grievver. Open the chest to retrieve the 2nd half of the staff. The final room also contains a SIK chest.

Combine the two parts to form the Staff of the Nomads. There is a 3 week timer on picking up the staff halves. The parts may not be given; however, the finished Staff may be given or hooked.

Staff of the Nomads

A sturdy wooden staff, worn smooth. It is inscribed, "I found this branch scoured clean by the winds in the High Desert of my birth; a gift rendered unto me by Isishaa, god of the devouring sands. In eternal debt to his forbearance, I wield this weapon.  When he calls, my bones shall fall into his dry embrace as this tree once did."
