Town Crier tells you, "They have infested most of the world, and now the Olthoi have begun to blight our lands. And to make matters worse, it looks as though they are beginning to establish new hives in the Olthoi North!"

Town Crier tells you, "There are rumors of new Olthoi hives in the North! I do hope all the homeowners there have a Horn of Vigilance... Available, by the way, at all sellers named Coron Usgin in Zaikhal. Guaranteed to keep Olthoi away! At least, uh, I think they are. Well, I believe you can return it to Coron Usgin if not satisfied, a one hundred percent pyreal-back guarantee! I think..."

During Into the Darkness, players who lived in Olthoi North were shocked to find that seemingly overnight, the landscape had changed! Large mushrooms sprouted up from below, and the green earth was ravaged and blackened! They also discovered 4 new Olthoi Hives, confirming that the Olthoi menace was spreading.

Next month during the Groundswell event, the Olthoi plague spread across Olthoi North, blackening the land and four new Olthoi Hives appeared.

Explore the hives and fight the Olthoi Brood Matrons and Olthoi Brood Queens within. They will drop trophies that can be turned in to the Olthoi Hunter in Arwic (30.9N, 56.3E) in exchange for Olthoi Armor.

There are four levels of Hives, with two dungeons for each level: 20+, 40+, 60+, and 80+.

Each contains 2 Olthoi Brood Matrons and 2 Olthoi Brood Queens. The Matrons randomly drop a trophy -- either a tarsus, tibia or a tail. The Queens drop 2 trophies at a time -- a claw, head, metathorax, femur, crest or carapace. Collect all 9 trophies and turn them in to the Olthoi Hunter in Arwic for a full set of Olthoi Armor.

The Level 20+ hives contain Olthoi Brood Matron Nymphs and Olthoi Brood Queen Nymphs. The Lesser Otlhoi Armor is AL: 300 and can be wielded by levels 20+.

The Level 40+ hives contain Young Olthoi Brood Matrons and Young Olthoi Brood Queens. The Fine Olthoi Armor is AL: 400 and can be wielded by levels 40+..

The Level 60+ hives have Adolescent Olthoi Brood Matrons & Adolescent Olthoi Brood Queens. The Good Olthoi Armor is AL: 450 and can be wielded by levels 60+.

The Level 80+ hives have Olthoi Brood Matron Elders and Olthoi Brood Queen Elders. The Greater Otlhoi Armor is AL: 500 and can be wielded by levels 80+.

Each trophy is on a 24 hour timer. The armor is unenchantable, but it may be dyed! See the patch page for pics of the armor dyed various colors!

Olthoi Brood Hive - Levels 20+

Shortcut: Take the Bleak Valley settlement portal from Arwic at 32.9N, 59.4E. You'll exit at 53.5N, 41.7E, just a few clicks away.

Creatures: Olthoi Nymph, Drone, Soldier, Worker and two Olthoi Brood Matron Nymphs and two Olthoi Brood Queen Nymphs.

The entrance is relatively safe for buffing. An Olthoi or two may investigate out of curiosity. Bane for Acid, Piercing, Slashing and Bludgeoning. The portal cannot be tied, recalled or summoned.

From the entrance follow the passage until the first room. Take the NE passage and keep to the right, heading down to the next level. At the open mushroom room, head up the slope on the north wall and take the left of the two passage at top.

Again you'll be keeping to the right in general until you find the next ramp down. Follow the passage and keep heading down until you reach the room with the Olthoi Brood Matron Nymph. The Matron drops either a Tarsus, a Tibia or a Tail. Further in are another Matron and two Olthoi Brood Queen Nymphs. The Queen drop the other 6 trophies you will need. When you have all 9, return to Olthoi Hunter in Arwic to exchange your trophies for a set of Lesser Olthoi Armor.
 

Olthoi Brood Hive - Levels 40+

Shortcut: Head to the Hebian-To settlement portals at 41.5S, 82.1E and take the Arrowdale Cottages portal. You'll exit at  64.8N, 72.1E, a few click from the dungeon.

Shortcut: Take the Haliana settlement portal from Cragstone at 26.2N, 46.3E. You'll exit at 73.1N, 61.0E.

Creatures: Olthoi Noble, Soldier, and Eviscerator, Swarm Guard and Swarm Drone and two Young Olthoi Brood Matrons and two Young Olthoi Brood Queens.

The entrance is relatively safe for buffing. An Olthoi or two may investigate out of curiosity. Bane for Acid, Piercing, Slashing and Bludgeoning. The portal cannot be tied, recalled or summoned.

For the most part, you will be keeping left all the way down. Take the passage on the north side of the room and follow the passage, eventually heading south. At the T, head east down the ramp and stay to your left. You'll come to a large open room full of Soldier and Nobles.

Head down the slope and take the east passage at the bottom. You'll now start heading down a series of ramps. Keep left and at the bottom, left again. The next room you enter will have Soldiers, Nobles and Eviscerators. Across the room on the south wall is a doorway where you can fight in better safety. Follow the corridor as it winds around and back up. At the top, make another left up a ramp, until you open onto a platform with more Eviscerators.

This time make a right and take the passage on the west wall. Keep to the left again until you reach another platform. The passage up from here is to the east. You'll take a few more ramps up and will reach another platform with two Eviscerators. From here you can jump to the bottom, or go platform to platform.

At the bottom, take the passage on the south wall and follow it until you bear east. You'll find a Young Olthoi Brood Matrons accompanied by several Soldiers, Nobles and Eviscerators. If you follow the slope down and take the passage to the east, you'll find the second Matron. The Matrons are on a 3 minutes spawn. When everyone has collected a Tarsus, a Tibia and a Tail, you can move on to the Queens!

From the 2nd Matron area, take the ramp down in the center of the room. Bear right to find the Queen. She'll be guarded by Swarm Drones and Guards, Nobles, and Eviscerators. An exit portal is to the left. A second queen can be found in a room down below by the exit portal. The Queens are also on a 3 minute spawn. When everyone has collected the remaining 6 trophies, the Claw, Head, Metathorax, Femur, Crest and Carapace, return to the Olthoi Hunter in Arwic to receive the armor!

Oltho Brood Hive - Levels 60+

Creatures: Olthoi Swarm Soldier, Olthoi Swarm Eviscerator, Olthoi Warrior, two Adolescent Olthoi Brood Matrons and two Adolescent Olthoi Brood Queens.

Like the 40+ hive, the entrance is relatively safe for buffing. An Olthoi or two may investigate out of curiosity. Bane for Acid, Piercing, Slashing and Bludgeoning. The spawns in the dungeon are fast and dangerous. It's best if your party moves through quickly and does not stop to loot. You'll have plenty of time to do so when you are camping the Matrons and Queens.

In general, you will be keep to the right until the jump, then you'll be keeping to the left until the Matrons, and then east to the Queens.

From the entrance keep right and head down the ramp. Keep making rights until you reach an open area with the small acid formation in the middle of the room (see pic). Take the corridor straight ahead to the east with the purplish glow. Again keep to the right and you'll reach a wide ramp heading down to the south.

Go to the bottom of the ramp and bear to the left heading north. Take a right at the split, then keep to the right heading down the ramp. At the bottom of the ramps make a right at the first intersection then take the middle passage at the 2nd intersection heading South. You'll go through a large open blue-ish room. Keep right at the ramp, right again at the split, and keep to the right until you reach the pit.

Jump down and take the passage at the bottom. At the 4 way intersection go right. At the first split, take a right, and at the next split take a left. Take your next left at the split, then another left at the four way intersection. Go straight through the next, make a left and you'll come to the first Adolescent Brood Matron.

If you have a large group, you can have some people camp the first Matron while the rest hunt the 2nd Matron. To reach the second one, head down the wide ramp and go east. Continue east and jump down to the levels below (the first platform down is a good place to buff as there are only two Olthoi which spawn there). Jump down again and take the south passage at the bottom, make a right at the split, then take the ramp up to the 2nd Matron.

The Adolescent Olthoi Brood Matrons spawn every 3 minutes and drop the Tarsus, Tibia and Tail. They'll be accompanied by Olthoi Swarm Soldiers, Olthoi Swarm Eviscerators, and Olthoi Warriors.

Once everyone has their three trophies the group should join up if they've separated before heading to the Queens. From the 2nd Matron room take the south passage, then just follow the passage east all the way to the queen area. You'll come to a split. Either way has an Adolescent Olthoi Brood Queen. The left passage has an exit portal on the East wall which gives you a small passageway where you can fight and buff in relative safety. If your group splits, the people to the right of the split should fight from the hallway before the queen room.

Note: If you kill one of the Olthoi Eggs, you will get an Olthoi Grub, suitable for hooking or being made into a tasty snack!

The Queens spawn every 3 minutes and drop 2 of the 6 trophies you need at a time. Once everyone has their 6 trophies -- Claw, Head, Metathorax, Femur, Crest and Carapace -- return to the Olthoi Hunter in Arwic to receive the armor!

Oltho Brood Hive - Levels 80+

Map: Olthoi Brood Hive (80+)

Shortcut: Take the Secluded Valley Cottages settlement portal at 32.9N, 59.4E. You'll exit at 51.9N, 67.2E, a short run from the dungeon.

Shortcut: Take the New Cannthalo settlement portal from Rithwic at 8.7N, 60.9E. You'll exit at 66.5N, 57.6E, just a few clicks from the dungeon.

Creatures: Olthoi Warrior, Olthoi Swarm Eviscerator, Swarm Guardians, Olthoi Mutilators, two Olthoi Brood Matron Elders and two Olthoi Brood Queen Elders.

From the entrance, head west down the passage and hug the left wall. Keep following as it curves around, then take the ramp down on your left.

Go west from the bottom of the ramp and turn left again. At the intersection, go straight heading east and hug the left wall. At the T, go south into a blueish room, then take the South passageway. When you hit the ramp directly in front of you, do not take it! Instead, turn right and follow the passage around. (click for diagram of ramp area: ). At the end of the passage you'll be in a room with several Swarm Eviscerators. Take the ramp down on the North wall (left) and head down to the next level.

At the bottom of the ramp, turn right heading east. Continue straight until you come to a large open area with tons of Olthoi. Stay in the hall until you have cleared out the room in front of you, then continue forward into the open area. On the south wall you'll see a passage heading into a maze-like section.

Hug the left wall until you reach another large room. Continue until you dead end, then take the passage on the south wall. Keep hugging the left wall until you reach the next ramp heading down.

From the ramp drop go left heading east, then straight south down a very long pink, white and green fog filled hall. The hall will turn into another tunnel and you should look for your first left. The passage brings you to the Matron area (see pic to left).

To camp the Matron, head through the room to the south corridor (not the oneo on the left wall) and fight from there. For larger groups, leave some of them in the hall to camp the Matron, and have some head to the 2nd Matron area. From the corridor, follow the right wall until you reach a small collection of tunnels. Take the SE passage which brings you to a small area with a ramp down on the south wall. The 2nd Matron is at the bottom. A small alcove the far wall offers a good place to fight.

Once your groups has the 3 Matron trophies (tarsus, tibia and tail), rejoin to head to the Queen area.

From the alcove, take the passage on the east wall. You'll head down a ramp heading east. At the bottom, there will be 2 passages, one to the north and one to the south. Either of these leads to an Olthoi Brood Queen Elder. (click for diagram of queen area: )The exit portal is directly to the east.

The Queens spawn every 3 minutes and drop 2 of the 6 trophies you need at a time. Once everyone has their 6 trophies -- Claw, Head, Metathorax, Femur, Crest and Carapace -- return to the Olthoi Hunter in Arwic to receive the armor!
