If you've
outgrown your
Exploration Society Leather Armor and want to upgrade, but just don't want to
pay those outrageous prices the shopkeepers charge, you can visit the Glenden
Wood Dungeon for a sturdy Platemail Hauberk!
This quest was
updated during the
Reign of
Terror event. The hauberk is now an attractive deep purple color!
The rumor to the
dungeon can be purchased from barkeep Ystig Marson at The Overlook Tavern in
Glendon Wood - 29.4N, 27.2E.

Dungeon Directions
To the northwest of town, underneath the hill, rests what looks like a vast
prison complex. Travelers have told of gruesome sights and even of a sacrificial
pit, into which none have been brave enough to leap! Tough monsters lurk
everywhere, it's said; it's not a place for newcomers to explore. I also did
hear that many of the doors are locked, but that the keys may be found within
the complex itself -- with considerable effort!
The entrance to the
Glenden Wood
Dungeon is on the outskirts of town at 30.0N, 26.4E (no level restriction). The dungeon is large and sprawling, with
numerous locked doors and chests throughout. You'll encounter all sorts of lower
level creatures, including
Drudge Slaves (Level
12 & 14), Banderling
Blades and Ogres, Granite
Golems,
Liches, and Silver
Rats.
From the entrance
room there's only one passageway out. At the first split, do not take the door
behind the table and chairs, but head to the long room to the NW. (The door
behind the table takes you down a long hallway with a locked cell at the end
containing Shore Armoredillos.) Kill the Drudge and
the Banderling, then take the north hall. Skip the first right to the east, continuing
down the passage past a series of rooms until you reach a large open dining
room.
You'll need to
collect a few keys before continuing. From the dining room, take the west exit,
opposite the way you came in. Continue straight past the open hall to the right
until you reach a small room. Take the west passage
all the way to the end then make a right. Behind the door is a room with 3
Drudges. One of the Slaves carries the Plain-Looking Key.
Head back through
the small room, then back to the dining room. This time, take the first right
out of the dining room heading North. At the 4 way split, go left heading north.
Two Liches guard a door. When you enter, you'll see a few corpses hanging from
the wall and a locked door. Use the Plain-Looking Key on the door (resistance
100) and kill the Banderling Blade inside. It carries a Rusty Key.
Head back to the
4 way split and go east. You'll be in a big long room with prison cells on
either side. At the first major intersection make a right heading south. Use the
Rusty Key on the 2nd locked cell door and kill the 2 Silver Rats inside.
One of the Rats carries an Antique Key.
Return to the
intersection and head east again past the Banderling standing next to a chest.
Take the South passage until you reach the locked gated door (resistance 142).
Use the Antique Key to open the door, then head down a series of very steep
ramps until you reach the caverns.
At the first split make a left heading NW. You'll enter a big open room
with a Granite Golem and a portal to North Glenden Prison. A chest behind the bench
holds some newbie loot. Kill the Golem and exit the room via the first passage on the right, heading east.
Go straight at the
3 way intersection and keep heading east. You'll head up another very steep
ramp. A large open room is at the top with a chest (resistance 78) and 2
Banderling Blades.
Take the east
passage from this room and you'll eventually start heading down. At the bottom
go North at the split and you'll find a small room containing a Banderling Blade. Kill the
Blade for your Platemail Hauberk. The Banderling Blade also
carries Fire Arrows, some random loot and an Oddly-Shaped Key. The key opens the
chest in the large open room at the top.
Note: The dungeon
also contains an Alloy Tool for the
Undead
Mechanic quest. It can be found in the other passage past the Granite
Golem/Prison portal area.
