East Outpost - Letter to Celcynd
Mindorla the Collector makes her home at the East Rithwic Outpost (10.3 N, 61.5 E). When you speak with her, she asks you to deliver a letter to one of the realm's most famous historical figures: Celcynd the Dour, the first mage to master the Empyrean planar magic! To read more about Celcynd and his tragic history, visit Wylreda the Scribe in Rithwic, author of Of Celcynd the Dour.

Mindorla the Collector says, "Very rarely, you can get a perfect red phyntos wasp wing. If you can give one to me, I'll pay you for it. I will also pay you for the tails of rats."
Mindorla the Collector tells you, "I'll take red phyntos wasp wings, armoredillos spines, and drudges charms. In return, I'll give you some money."
Mindorla the Collector tells you, "Have you been to Rithwic yet? I'd like you to take this letter to Celcynd. He will pay you for it."

Mindorla the Collector gives you Letter to Celcynd.

Letter to Celcynd:
My dear Celcynd, maybe you're right and we should talk some more. I am sending you this letter in the hopes that perhaps we can let go the follies of the past and start anew. Of course, it will be hard for me to forgive you, but I am sure that something can be worked out.

- Mindorla's Letter to Celcynd

Rumor has it that Mindorla and Celcynd were formerly trading partners, until they had a serious falling out. Mindorla moved her business from Rithwic proper to the East Outpost. It looks like she might be willing to let bygones by bygones!

You can find Celcynd the Dour in a pub in Rithwic, where he drowns his guilt in ale, doing small spells in exchange for drinks. Celcynd is also Rithwic's Society Agent for the Exploration Society's Letter Quests.

He's more interested in his beverage than in your mission, but he'll give you the promised reward for your troubles. In addition, he'll point you to rumors for nearby hunting areas, including the Old Warehouse

Celcynd the Dour tells you, "By the way -- if you haven't yet done so, you might want to visit Brentsella at the South Outpost, or Mindorla at the East Outpost. They often have tasks for young adventurers."
You give Celcynd the Dour Letter to Celcynd.
Celcynd the Dour tells you, "Oh, Mindorla! Well, I suppose you want a reward for delivering this to me. Here it is."
Celcynd the Dour tells you, "As long as you're here, see what rumors the barkeep is selling. You might find adventure around here, like I did when I was younger."

Celcynd the Dour gives you 200 Pyreals.
Celcynd the Dour gives you 2 Potions of Healing.
You've earned 5000 experience.

South Outpost - The Old Warehouse
Completing this starter quest will let you in on some of the drama and heartache of some of Dereth's residents. Brentsella the Collector, rumored to be Celcynd the Dour's love interest, is located at the South Rithwic Outpost (7.6 N, 58.4 E). When you speak with her, she will direct you to the Old Warehouse, a nice starter dungeon. She doesn't mention it, but inside there's a key which can be used to learn more about her former romance with Celcynd.

Brentsella the Collector tells you, "I'll take red phyntos wasp wings, armoredillos spines, and drudges charms. In return, I'll give you some money. Also, I used to try to live in a place called the Old Warehouse, a dungeon overrun with monsters now. It's on the hill to the north, toward town. If you go in, you can keep any treasure you find."

The Old Warehouse (8.7N, 58.1E) is restricted to Levels 1-20. It's full of drudges, and has a nice newbie chest at the bottom level which may spawn a magical item or two. There's plenty of opportunity to earn enough pyreals to upgrade to some fine studded leather by selling your loot back in Rithwic proper. If you take the right passage down two levels, you will find a chest guarded by several Skulkers and a Slinker which contains the key.

This key unlocks a chest on the upper level. You can find it by taking the left passage from the entrance instead of the right. It will be guarded by two Drudge Skulkers. Inside the chest you'll find a Letter from Celcynd's beloved which can be returned to him in Rithwic in exchange for a ring.

Letter to Celcynd:
My dear Celcynd, I won't forget the stars over Mt. Esper. I - oh I don't know why I'm writing this. I don't think I will ever send this to you. It will be better for the both of us. But should this letter ever reach you, Celcynd, do not keep the ring. Give it away. Maybe even give it to Mindorla. I don't think I could ever really be that serious.

- Brentsella

When you give Celcynd the Letter, he'll give you Celcynd's Ring in exchange.

Mindorla the Collector tells you, "You dare mock my pain when my wounds are fresh? Maybe if you come back tomorrow I will be able to deal with the matter."

Old Warehouse

Originally a stonemason's hamlet, Rithwic's earlier fortifications were dismantled when the Tumerok threat moved further away. The stones formerly used to protect the town found a new purpose when the people of Rithwic converted them into its landmark bridge -- The Prosper Span.
