The following information is provided as a courtesy until I can research the quest for a full write-up.
 

The scalpel is found in the Habitat dungeon. A gem to the Habitat is obtained by killed a "Virindi Collector" which is a rare spawning mob, like a Diamond lord. It can spawn anywhere on the plateau, and is pretty easy to find because it calls your name out when you run by it.

The Collector's non-voice booms in your mind, "We have learned the art of intimidation from the finest of your kind. Words such as these they shout at us in the Maze. Why are you humored?"

 When the gem is used it opens up to a dungeon full of both Virindi and Olthoi. The drop point is safe. The dungeon is fairly small, and you will quickly reach a large room with Olthoi and Virindi Observers. Once of the Observers will summon a portal on it's death. It took our group about 10 minutes before one summoned, I believe it is random. The portal opens up to a large structure above the portal, in the same dungeon. If you look up from the room with the Virindi you can see it. The area there has about 2 executors and 4 observers. It's also very small, and you will quickly located one of two difficulty 400 chorizite threaded (resist all spells) chests. Lockpick these and the 2 halves to the dagger are inside. Combine them and you make the dagger. A high skill is needed to combine them and they are on a timer.

Something that Giga has forgotten to mention (and it's a critical piece of info for DT players!!) is that the scalpel is HOLLOW.

I think you need to include one more major detail about this quest .. the portal gem u get is level 70+ restricted and when we opened we couldn't go in

Absolution of FF sends pic of Habitat Portal Gem taken from a Virindi Collector. The Collector is surrounded by Plated Tuskers and Altered Drudges.

The Scalpel may be lost on death.


That dungeon is so stupid!!! That's my rant :)

Ok, there is a skill check on the dagger. My girlfriend has 275 base dagger as an archer. Was buffed with just coord/quick 7 so guessing around 308 dagger buffed. She went to put it together in the dungeon and it broke. There is a skill check beyond having it trained. Wish we would have knows, but hope someone else will learn from our misfortune.

Forgot this. the 2 pieces are destroyed on failure and you cannot pick up another one. "You have completed this quest too recently."
Not sure on timer yet.

Rumor: Virindi on the Plateau

Shadow Windreaver of MT reports that the Scalpel has also been updated! "As always, it still has that special hollow like property, and is still buffable." Seldin the Rogue of WE reports that the old scalpels were not updated.

Ibn remarks: "The upgraded Virindi Scalpel should not be hollow at all... but should be double-striking. So it appears that there are two bugs with it."

A small, flimsy looking blade for precision slicing. It appears to be made of pure diamond. As you peer at it, a swathe of tiny, three-dimensional geometric shapes briefly flash violet within the hilt, and a hollow voice in your mind intones, "Puppet, this reconfiguration has been specially prepared and left for your use. Use this on meat beings to peel their artificial exoskeletons away.
