From the Keep Your Enemies Closer event.

Sneaky Simulacrum tells you, "Ah, fellow human! Come closer, so that we may converse!"

They're the perfect accessories for that Colban dyed robe or your neo Shadow Armor! The striking blue Shield, Helm and Orb can be retrieved from three separate dungeons introduced in the September '01 event. Use an Asteliary Gem to imbue the items for additional properties!

Begin the quest by purchasing the Simulacra Rumor from the Barkeeper Ghazi al-Barbasin in Zaikhal. You'll learn about three new installations where the Virindi are crafting strange human-like creatures. The rumor also tells you of the prized items carried by the Simulacrum in charge at each location.

Shield of the Simulacra

Map: Northern Infiltrator Keep

The shield can be found in the Northern Infiltrator Keep at 15.4N, 5.0E, a short run from Zaikhal. The dungeon is restricted to levels 25+. The entrance room is safe to buff. When ready, head NW, fighting Tumerok Scouts, Fighter, Warrior and a few Tumerok Priests, as well as some Drudge Lurkers, Drudge Stalker, and  Sneaky Simulacrum and Crafty Simulacrum. The route is very straightforward, so you'll easily find your way to the end.

In the final room you'll find the Northern Infiltrator Master (level 70), accompanied by a few Simulacra. Two more Simulacra may be perched above with bows. Bring an Archer or Mage with you!

Northern Infiltrator Master tells you, "Do you think me to be as weak in magic as your won race? Your magic is still too feeble to hurt me."

Dragnbane of SC and Vitripius II of HG suggest taking out the bodyguards first, then attacking the Master. His melee defense is extremely high. One method to bring him down is to have your melees keep the Master fighting to drain his stamina while the Archers and Mages work to take him out. Once his stamina is gone, he will be very easy to kill. The Shield of the Simulacra can be found on his corpse. You can imbue the shield with the Asteliary Gem found in the third installation (see below).

The Northern Infiltrator Master will also drop a note which can be translated by Diyas al-Yat in Zaikhal.

Helm of the Simulacra

Map: Southern Infiltrator Keep

The Helm can be found in the easiest of the three dungeons, the Southern Infiltrator Keep. This installation is located outside of Khayyaban at 52.3S 24.9E and is also restricted to levels 25+. 

Again, the dungeon is pretty straightforward. Keep heading South to get to the final room. When the dungeon splits, the ways are usually mirrors of each other, so you should be fine as long as you continue to head in a Southern direction. You'll encounter Tumerok Warrior and Tumerok High Priests, Drudge Stalkers and more Crafty and Sneaky Simulacrum.

The Helm is found on the Southern Infiltrator Master (level 70) in the final room. Again, using the attack method above and exhausting the Master of his stamina can be very effective. In addition to the Helm, the Master will also drop the Southern Infiltrator Note which can be translated in Zaikhal by Diyas al-Yat.

Asteliary Orb and Gem

Map: The Asteliary

The Asteliary Orb and the Asteliary Gem are found in the final installation: The Asteliary, located just south of Samsur at 10.2S, 17.5E. The Asteliary is restricted to levels 35+.

Then entry room is safe for buffing, although an occasional Drudge Ravener may be drawn into it. Inside you'll encounter more Drudge Ravener, groups of Sneaky Simulacrum, and Subtle Simulacrum , and Virindi Servants and Masters. (Thanks to Bob Down of SC for dungeon details.)

The higher level Simulacra will use level V and VI War Spells of differing attacks and debuffs. Buff as you would for fighting Virindi, with all your protections.

Like the two installations before it, The Asteliary is fairly easy to navigate. Head South whenever possible, as you negotiate your way towards the final room. From the entrance follow the hall through two large rooms, then past a small dead end room containing a Ravener or two. When you get to your first "T" intersection, make a left heading South, then another left, heading east.

From here the next few sections are mirror images of each other, so as long as you continue south, you will reach your destination. You'll first go up a ramp, then down the other side of the middle section. The final Simulacrum is The Crafter (level 80), found at the end of the third section in a room down a hallway to the north of the exit ramp. He is guarded by several Simulacrum.

The Simulacra have human form, and will be wearing either purple metal armor or robes. The Crafter is wearing a set of purple Amuli and may be easily confused with human players in the room!

The Crafter drops the Asteliary Orb, the Asteliary Gem, the Crafter's Amuli Suit and the Asteliary Crafter's Message Shard which can be translated in Zaikhal.

The Asteliary Gem is used to imbue either the Shield, Helm or Orb for additional properties. It is on a 30 day timer and may be dropped or given away. Once you imbue an item, the spells can only be used by the person who crafted it. All imbued items may also be dropped or given.
