First introduced in April 2000, the Silifi of
Crimson Stars is an ancient artifact from the Gharu'ndim homeland, once
belonging to the Malika Ladriya bint Daum. The
fighter Wari al-Sha'im, a follower of the nobleman Musansayn,
won the weapon from a renegade Shayk and carried it with
him all his life. The axe was lost long ago in the A'mun desert, its rubies
scattered in the sands.
During
The
Slumbering Giant, the Silifi was updated with new higher damage. New
spines were also able to be fitted to the haft. Leikotha, now an NPC, will
also give experience rewards for the axe parts for those who have no use for
the weapon.
To begin the quest, purchase
The
Silifi of Crimson Stars rumor from Maryata bint Daris,
the barkeep of The Lofty Spire
in Uziz - 25.7S, 28.2E.
The Silifi of Crimson Stars
North-northeast of Uziz, around 10.2S, 31.3E, is an ancient crypt inhabited
by the tormented soul Leikotha. It is rumored that Leikotha has knowledge of
the fabled Silifi of the Crimson Stars. Kayna bint Iswas, a historian who
lives in the desert (around 1.7S, 36.6E) has written a long volume about the
Silifi, and is always looking for more information on the fate of this
illustrious weapon.
Leikotha's
Crypt is located at 10.2S, 31.3E. To reach Leikotha, take the Samsur portal
from Yaraq at 23.0S, 0.2W, then take the Yinar
settlement portal
at 0.8S, 18.9E.
You'll exit 9.5S, 33.3E, a short run from the
crypt.
In your
mind, a soft voice sighs, "So many turns of the world have passed. When
shall my torment end?"
In your mind, a soft voice sighs, "Please leave me be... I wish thee no
harm."
In your mind, a soft voice sighs, "Disturb me not... Travel past this hole
in the earth."
Leikotha is a level 72 Female
Haebrous NPC. She resides in the crypt surrounded by 3
Greater Mu-Miyah.
When you speak to her, she will give you a Broken Haft (30 day timer) and
direct you to the historian Kanya bint Iswas for its repair.
Leikotha tells you, "Ai, another comes,
breaking mine wretched musings. Why have you come to this sandy tomb, filled
with unnatural beasts? Is your heart filled with greed, seeking what
treasures may lay within? Or is your heart of a more noble nature, perhaps
seeking to release me from this torment? It matters not, for I have but one
thing to offer you."
Leikotha gives you Broken Haft.
Leikotha tells you, "Like so many things found on this unhappy world, it is
broken. Once though it belonged to a friend. One like thee. One who hoped to
release me. Ai, he failed... he failed."
Leikotha tells you, "Take the haft, I would see it used again in his name
than have it stay with me and crumble to dust. If thou have no use for the
Haft, I would still see it as it once was. Return the haft to me, repaired,
and I will reward thee. Those that surround me speak of one of thy kind who
may know how to set it to order once more. Look for her at 1.7 S, 36.6 E."
Kayna
bint Iswas studies in her desert home, east of Samsur at 1.7S,
36.6E. It's an easy run from Leikotha's Crypt. When you
climb the hill you'll rouse two
Iron Golems that
stand sentry. Kill them to gain access to the building. When you speak to Kayna,
she asks for a Skeleton Skull. In exchange she'll give you The Silifi of the
Crimson Stars, a history book. This history tells the story of the
creation of the axe and makes mention of the 5 enchanted rubies which
endow the axe with
additional powers.
Kayna bint Iswas tells you, "Greetings! I rarely have visitors here in the
hills...a pleasure to meet you!"
Kayna bint Iswas tells you, "Tell me, would you be able to procure a
skeleton's skull for me? I have need of it in my research. Should you find
one, I can provide you with a copy of my latest history tome. It's the first
of a major multi-volume work!"
You give Kayna bint Iswas Skeleton's Skull.
Kayna bint Iswas tells you, "Wonderful, wonderful!"
Kayna bint Iswas tells you, "Now I may continue my studies. Here is the book
I mentioned. I'm sure you'll find it of interest. All my histories sold well
on Ispar."
Kayna bint Iswas gives you The Silifi of the Crimson
Stars.
Text:
The Silifi
of the Crimson Stars
As Leikotha instructed,
hand Kayna bint Iswas the Broken Haft for repair. She'll return the Repaired
Haft and will give you a pamphlet with notes on finding the 5 scattered
rubies.
You give Kayna bint
Iswas Broken Haft.
Kayna bint Iswas tells you, "Good heavens! Do you know
what you have here? Do you see these markings? This is a piece of the
legendary Silifi of the Crimson Stars!"
Kayna bint Iswas tells you, "It looks like the blade, the rubies, and the
top two jewel fittings have been broken off. I can repair the haft, but it
will only be able to hold three of the five gems, should you manage to find
them."
Kayna bint Iswas gives you Repaired Haft.
Kayna bint Iswas tells you, "You'll also have to
replace the blade. Here, this pamphlet has some suggestions and tips for
you."
Kayna bint Iswas gives you Notes on the Silifi.
Kayna bint Iswas tells you, "I'd choose carefully,
were I you. As fragile as this is now, you wouldn't be able to remove the
spine or the rubies try again."
Text:
Notes on
the Silifi
The Blade
Since the original blade has been irreparably destroyed, an
Armoredillo spine must
be substituted to restore the axe. Each type of spine will give the axe different damage
properties (see table to the right).
Once a blade has been attached, it cannot be removed.
A great place to get Shore Armoredillo Spines is on the shore East of Arwic.
Try ~43.1N, 68.0E. Bronze Dillos are often found on the
mainland where the desert meets the plains. Island Armoredillos are found on the
Vesayan Isles. Plated and Hoary Armoredillos were introducing during
The
Slumbering Giant. Plated and Hoary Armoredillos can by found in the
Dires around Ayan Baqur and the D note lifestone
Use the Spine on the Repaired Haft to attach the blade. You must have axe skill trained or
specialized to complete this part of the quest. It is recommended that your axe skill be
at least 200+ or you may not be successful. Even with a high axe skill, you still have a
chance of failure. If necessary, have a creature mage buff
you before
attempting.
If you're unsuccessful, the haft will break and the spine will be destroyed. You will
receive this message: You fail to attach the [type] Spine.
Your fumble snaps the
haft! Don't worry! Kayna bint Iswas will happily repair the haft for your next
attempt.
The Rubies
Each axe only has three slots available, so choose your gems wisely. The rubies
themselves cannot be dropped or given away and are on a
30 day timer. Once the rubies have been installed, they
cannot be removed.
Ruby Al-Shajar
The Ruby Al-Shajar (Lightning Protection VI),
is found on a
Skeleton Lord in Skeleton Tomb at 18.4S, 21.3E.
Take the Tou-Tou from Arwic at 33.8N, 56.4E, then take the Haven Residential
portal to Uziz. From Uziz, take the Djebel al-Nar
Cottages settlement
portal at 24.8S, 29.7E which drops you at
16.1S, 21.4E. An Old Sign
posts a warning:
Yaraq to Al-Jalima then run to Uzik and take the
Deset Mirage Cottages Settlement Portal
Old Sign
Danger!
Do Not proceed beyond this point!
Inside
the tomb you'll find Desert Rats
and Skeleton Captains.
Although the dots on your radar may look imposing, you shouldn't have to fight more than 2
or 3 Skeletons at a time. From the entrance head down the stairs and take a left. You'll go
down a level or two, then back up. The Ruby Al-Shajar is found on
Skeleton Lord at
the top.
The Ruby Yujazik
The Ruby Yujazik (Fire Protection VI) is found
found on a
Skeleton Lord
inside a
desert tent located at
18.4S, 12.6E.
The tent is surrounded by a few
Skeleton
Captains. Creatures in the
vicinity include the typical desert fauna, such as
Sclavus,
Niffis, and
Shreth.
The Ruby Sulmada
The Ruby Sulmada (Coordination VI) is found in the Amiantos Bethel
Dungeon 16.3S, 35.1E on a
Skeleton Lord.
Amiantos Bethel is the Point of Interest west
of Yanshi. The entrance portal floats in the air atop a short
staircase. It's very cool looking! To reach the dungeon, take the Yinar settlement portal from
Samsur at
0.8S, 18.9E.
It will drop you at
9.5S, 33.3E, a
short run from the portal.
Map:
Amiantos Bethel
When you first enter,
you'll see a lever to the left. This lever opens the door to the room with
the Skeleton
Lord. If you have Portal Recall, you'll first want to
learn the route to the door. From the entrance pass the surface portal
and jump below. You'll be fighting
Skeleton Warriors
and Captains
throughout. Take the passage to the SE and hug the left wall until you go
down a ramp. Keep hugging the left wall until the next drop. Jump down and
head east. Go up a ramp and you'll see a bench against a wall. Turn right up
the ramp and you'll see the locked door. Portal Recall back to the entrance
of the dungeon, pull the lever and make your run back down.
Kill the
Skeleton Lord
and retrieve the Ruby Sulmada.
The Ruby Mahwan
The Ruby Mahwan (Defender VI) is found on a
Greater Mu-Miyah
at the bottom of the Grievous Vault near
Uziz (25.8S, 27.3E, restricted to levels 10+). The
easiest way to Uziz is through the Haven Residential Quarters in
Lyetelthorpe (0.6N, 51.6E) or Tou-Tou (28.2S, 95.6E).
Map:
Grievous
Vault
Inside the dungeon you'll
encounter Skeleton
Warriors and Captains,
Banderling
Guards and Captains, Lesser and Greater
Mu-Miyah, and
Liches and Lich
Lords. From the entrance, jump down below. Head north, then take the first
left heading west. Go through the door and kill a
Skeleton Captain, then west down
the ramp. Head north, then follow the room as it bears around to the east
until you jump again to the level below.
You'll see three passages
on the west wall. Take the middle one then go right at the split. Kill the
Captain in the small room with the chest then go west through the 2nd door
and jump down again.
Take the north passage up
a ramp and go through the door to the east. Look to your left and you'll see
a lever on a landing. Jump to the landing, pull the lever, then jump all the
way down to the level below. The door the lever opened is to the right of
the exit portal (hard right). Kill the Greater Mu-Miyah and pick up the Ruby
Mahwan.
While you're there, you
may also want to explore the SE passage from the portal room. Use the lever
in the southern most room to open the door containing the Tortured Soul. It
drops the red Lich Skull.
The Ruby
Al-Khur
The Ruby Al-Khur (Blood Drinker VI) is found in the Sylsfear Dungeon
(11.0N, 14.7E, restricted to levels 10+). Before heading to the dungeon, you'll
need to collect the Weathered Red Key from a Skeleton Cave. The Cave is
located at
24.8S, 19.7E. Take the
Arqasanti settlement portal from
Al-Arqas
at 33.6S, 13.2E, exiting at 24.7S, 15.2E.
The Cave contains 3
Skeleton Lords, but none of them carries the key. It spawns on the
floor behind one of the pillars. When you have the key, head to Slysfear.
To reach
Sylsfear Dungeon
take the Al-Jalima portal from Arwic at 7.4N, 4.7E, then take the Unified
Heart Villas settlement portal at 5.7N, 4.3E. You'll exit at 13.6N, 16.2E, a
short run from the dungeon located at 11.0N, 14.7E.
From the entrance, take a
left at the surface portal. At the split go right and head down. If you take
your first left, you'll find a
Scribbled Note spawning on the ground. To reach the ruby, however, don't
take any of the side passages, but go east at the bottom of the ramp until
the passage bends north. Pass the alcove with the
Banderling
Chief and Breeder and continue north until you reach the Dusty Sign.
Dusty Sign
Only a fool would travel beyond this door.
Turn back now before it is too late. you are heading down the wrong path!
To
continue on your fool's errand, take the passage to the left and head down.
Use the Weathered Red Key on the locked door (Resistance 583) and kill the
Ice Golem in the room beyond. A pressure plate on the east wall opens the
door on the west wall. You'll be fighting a Lich, a Lich Lord, and Wari al Sha'im
on the other side. The Ruby Al-Khur is on Wari al Sha'im's corpse.
In a confused voice, Wari al Sha'im says, "The Silifi...
Where is the Silifi..."
You run Wari al Sha'im through!
Wari al Sha'im tells you, "I've failed you...
failed..."
If you're interested in a bigger challenge while you're there, be
even more foolish by going
right at the Dusty Sign! Sylsfear has all kinds of baddies, including Granite Golems, Lich
Lords, Panubris Shadows, Revenants, Astyrrians, Infernos, and a Male Tusker.
A Revenant in the room past the Shadows carries a Laboratory Key which
opens a chest in the lowest level.
To reach the chest you'll
need to take the east passage from the dungeon entrance. You'll also need
the Key from Alfreth Dungeon. First
Head to the
Zabool Tower (21.7N, 19.4E) and climb to the top. Watch
out for the Lich! Portal over to Mt. Alphus and purchase Zaphoos' Key from the vendor. The key costs 900p and has 2 uses. Zaphoos does not take trade notes, so bring some
cash! Next, head to
Alfreth Dungeon (20.5N, 13.2E). Inside, keep left and use Zaphoos'
Key to open a locked door. Jump down into the pit (2 jumps) and follow the passage deeper
until you encounter a group of Banderlings. The Banderling Captain is carrying the key
needed in Sylsfear Dungeon -- one use only.
The restored Silifi of Crimson Stars cannot be dropped or
given away.
Leikotha Rewards
If you don't have axe skill and have no use for the axe parts, you can
return them to Leikotha for a reward of experience (she will not return
them).
Repaired Haft
- 10,000 xp
Ruby Al-Shajar - 25,000 xp
Ruby Yuzajik - 25,000 xp
Ruby Sulmada - 25,000 xp
Ruby Mahwan - 25,000 xp
Ruby Al-Khur - 25,000 xp
Ashbane - 500,000 xp
Haft Reward
Leikotha tells you,
"Thy mind tells that the haft has been repaired. Give it to me, and I shall
reward thee."
You give Leikotha Repaired Haft.
Leikotha inspects the haft.
Leikotha tells you, "It is almost as I remember it when he carried it in his
hand. Not quite though. Some harm cannot be undone."
Leikotha sighs.
Leikotha tells you, "Ai, Wari. One like thee, a child of another sun. He
carried this haft, a great blade resting within it, and sought to release
me. He failed... and now has been cursed as I have."
A single tear rolls down Leikotha's cheek. She raises a hand to her face and
the dry wrappings absorb the tear instantly.
Leikotha tells you, "As I have said, I shall reward you."
You've earned 10,000 experience.
Leikotha tells you, "If thou returns with the gems that once graced this
haft, I will reward thee again."
Rubies Rewards
You give Leikotha The Ruby Al-Shajar.
Leikotha tells you, "Mine thanks. This gem was but the first one that graced
the axe Wari once wielded. Thy people had begun to establish holdings here
on Ireth Lassel when Wari came across this ancient tomb. This place of
mourning that I have haunted for millennia."
Leikotha looks to the ceiling above her, and then returns her attention to
you.
Leikotha tells you, "After defeating those that surround me, Wari approached
me. The long days had gone by so slowly, and this diminutive creature, one
so much like mine own people, intrigued me. For a moment, this curiosity
lifted the burden of my torment off my soul."
Leikotha tells you, "I hailed this creature, asked him his name and what he
sought. A moment he stood silent, considering me. Then he told me his name,
what had passed on the land above, and that he now looked for a cause to
lend his blade to."
Leikotha tells you, "A spark of hope entered my heart, if I could still be
said to have one. So long had I sought to undo Nerash's binding, the curse
that forever keeps me from passing. Perhaps this curious creature could
finally undo it. Ai, I was wrong, so very wrong."
Leikotha tells you, "Ai, I see I have tarried thee long enough. I will
reward thee for thy efforts."
You've earned 25,000 experience.
Leikotha tells you, "If thou brings me another of the gems, perhaps I will
tell thee more."
You give Leikotha The Ruby Yujazik.
Leikotha tells you, "The second gem from Wari's axe. Allow me to reward
thee."
You've earned 25,000 experience.
Leikotha tells you, "Since thou has shown an interest in Wari's tale, I will
continue to tell it to thee."
Leikotha tells you, "I had told Wari of Nerash's poison arrow and my fall at
the Plateau of Gelid. Of how Nerash, a foul undead minion of Dericost, had
sought to keep me at his side for all eternity. Of how I had been tortured
and twisted by his dark rites and doomed to never know the peace of
oblivion. Of my daughter, Alysse, who only knew her mother as a loathsome
monster, who had been forced to flee the light."
Leikotha tells you, "Wari's noble heart was moved, he swore to find a means
to undo Nerash's binding. I told him of the undead lords who roamed the
sands of this land. The secrets of blood were known to them, perhaps they
could aid him in releasing the binding."
Leikotha tells you, "Wari set off to find these lords. Never again did I see
him."
You give Leikotha The Ruby Sulmada.
Leikotha tells you, "Ai, thou have found the third gem from Wari's axe. You
shall be rewarded."
You've earned 25,000 experience.
Leikotha tells you, "Many days passed after Wari left this tomb. Days that
had been very much the others before Wari had come, yet the spark of hope
remained."
Leikotha tells you, "Then one of these creatures, these minor undead who
derive a sick pleasure from seeing mine torment, told me that Wari had
fallen. It cackled, the teeth in its fleshless skull rattling together with
pleasure."
Leikotha tells you, "The spark of hope died. Ai, if I could but join it."
You give Leikotha The Ruby Mahwan.
Leikotha tells you, "Wari's fourth gem. Thank thee."
You've earned 25,000 experience.
Leikotha tells you, "I had stood here, impassive, watching the days begin
and end, ceaselessly. As the millennia had passed, I thought I had but one
feeling left to me: sorrow. Yet Wari had shown I had another: hope. Now this
fleshless fool, the one who told me of Wari's death, had brought out yet
another: fury."
Leikotha tells you, "I struck down the fool, although not before I found out
where Wari had fallen. Wari had sought the answer to unbinding me in the
dungeon Sylsfear."
Leikotha tells you, "I left this tomb, something I had not done for untold
ages, and sought out those who had done this."
Leikotha sighs.
Leikotha tells you, "Ai, if only I had not. If only."
You give Leikotha The Ruby Al-Khur.
Leikotha tells you, "The fifth gem. I see thou have seen Wari. Fate has not
been kind to a soul so noble. Some once said the same of me. However, thou
does deserve a reward for giving Wari a moment of peace."
You've earned 25,000 experience.
Leikotha tells you, "Now you know what I found when I entered Sylsfear. Wari
had sought out the undead lords, those who, in their life, had maintained
the facility and studied the mana and structure of this world. These undead
lords and their minions had overpowered Wari, had discovered why he sought
them out, and thought of an appropriate punishment."
Leikotha tells you, "His mighty blade was shattered and spread about the
undead minions as trophies. He was left with but one piece; the gem thou
have brought to me. The lords also cursed Wari in a manner similar to me.
Yet Wari's curse had been imperfect and his mind was now as shattered his
axe had been."
Leikotha tells you, "I wept bitter tears when I returned to this tomb,
seeing what had become of this noble child of distant sun. Ai, the tears
were for me as well, for now I knew my torment would not end."
Leikotha tells you, "Thou does know the tale now, and I have but a few final
words to offer thee: Do not fear the fate that awaits all creatures that
draw breath, for fates much worse than that can be meted out."
Leikotha tells you, "Now please leave me be."
Ashbane Reward
If you know your lore, you'd know that the sword, Ashbane (see
the
Aerlinthe quest),
belonged to Leikotha
long long ago.
If you hand Ashbane to Leikotha, you will receive a reward, and then she'll
portal you to the Subway!
You give Leikotha Ashbane.
Leikotha releases a dry, rasping gasp.
Leikotha tells you, "Ashbane... mine own sword."
Leikotha examines her sword, feeling the weight of the blade in her hands.
Leikotha tells you, "I had dropped this on the hill of Ayn Tayan... My rage
had so blinded me. Ferah, had played me for the fool..."
Leikotha tells you, "Spinning lies in my mind..."
Leikotha tells you, "What I did..."
A sound slowly builds within Leikotha, until finally an unearthly scream
emanates from her. You feel the din about to deafen you when the scream
stops.
Leikotha tells you, "Why... why..."
Leikotha stares silently at the blade of the sword.
Leikotha tells you, "How... where... ai, thy mind tells me that thou has
found in one of Aerfalle's caches. Foul magus that she is. I shall reward
thee for thy efforts."
You've earned 500,000 experience.
Leikotha tells you, "Now leave me. Leave me with my bitter memories..."
If you try to repeat this quest before the 30 day timer
is up, Leikotha will speak to you, but she will not hand you another haft.
Leikotha tells you, "I have given you all I have to offer. Take the haft,
seek the one at 1.7 S, 36.6 E." |
