The
Elemental Stones were created by Lady Maila, wife of Lord Atlan of Knorr, to
add additional properties to the
weapons
her husband had designed during the battle against the Hopeslayer. After the
defeat of Bael'Zharon, Asheron, tired of bloodletting, scattered the Minor
Stones across Dereth and locked the Major Stone away in deadly vaults. You
can find out more backgroup in
Atlan's
Treatise and
Asheron's
Decree, two books discovered during the Shadows of the Past event.
Major Stones not only
power-up
Atlan Weapons, but they can also be used to provide enhanced AL and
elemental protections to
Shadow Hunter
Armor. The newer
Isparian
Weapons may also be fitted with Atlan Stones.
The Major Stinging
Stone is found within Incunabula Vault at 35.9S, 47.2W (no level
restrictions). To reach the
Vault, head to Rithwic and take the Seige Road Villas
settlement
portal at 8.7N, 60.9E. You'll exit at 3.0N, 65.7E. Or if you have
Eastham handy, take the Dryreach Beach Manors portal at 17.5N, 61.5E which
places you at 3.9S, 76.3E. From either point, head to the East Direlands
Swamp portal at 8.1S, 74.5E (restricted to levels 12+). It's best to buff
before you enter, as the landing may be hot.
An alternative route is to have someone tie to the
Direlands Swamp Temple at 37.6S,
46.1W (restricted to levels 15+) which places you a few
clicks from the Vault.

Incunabula Vault
During the
Heart of
Woe event, a second alternative portal to the dungeon at
23.0S 60.0E
was introduced. To reach it take the San-Chin
Settlement Portal from Hebian-To at 41.5S, 82.1E.

Duplicated Portals
The
Incunabula Vault is full of Olthoi Soldiers (Level 60). Buff with Piercing
and Acid protections. The entrance is safe as long as you stay away from the
ramps and don't lure the Olthoi up.
To begin,
take the south ramp down and keep to your left. When you bear around to the
east to a 4 way intersection, take the middle passage north. Make your
second right heading east and go through the green organic door. At the next
intersection, take a left heading north into a large open room full of
Olthoi.
You'll see
two passages on the north wall of the room. Take the passage to the right
and when you make the turn to the left, you'll see a bridge over an acid
pit. You'll be going over 5 bridges total, the final two both heading east.
Once across
the bridges, you'll be at a 4 way intersection. Make a right then hug the
left wall until you're in another large open room. Use the passage on the
north wall of the room and follow the corridor until you're overlooking the
acid pits.
If you're
an experienced jumper, you can jump across the acid pit to the far side. If
you have a large group, however, it's probably better to take the passage
down and around. Simply take the ramp down and hug the left wall until you
reach the ramp heading back up. When you reach the top of the ramp, take a
left and you'll be on the other side of the acid pit!
Next head
east along the ledge until you see the passage on the north wall. Follow it
until you cross a few more bridges. When you see the surface portal, you're
almost there! Head east into the final Olthoi Room and battle your way
through! The Major Stinging Stone spawns on the ground at the end of the
east passageway, next to a valuable Ruby and Emerald. The Stone is on a 60
hour timer (2.5 days).
Note: Atlan Stones may not be
given away. A
tool is required to remove the Stones from Atlan Weapons or Shadow
Armor.
