Wedding Trials

During the Betrayal event, official weddings returned to Dereth, complete with Wedding Planners, new finery, and most spectacularly, three new beautiful locales with Grand Sentinels to officiate.

Before a Grand Sentinel will agree to marry a couple, the bride and groom to be must first prove that they are pure of heart and ready for this serious commitment -- see the Wedding Handbook for more information. The two must complete a set of trials in the Wedding Trials Dungeon, near the Arwic Lifestone (32.8N, 55.2E).

Although the quest is simple to complete (a buffed level 1 could probably succeed), it cannot be done alone. The first trial is to successfully battle Jealousy - a level 10 Knath! When you first enter the dungeon, the hallway splits to the left and to the right. Each corridor leads to a door that can only be opened by pushing a button on the opposite side! The Jealousy Knath drops the Symbol of Friendship.

Next, each of the two lovers must stand on the Wedding Pressure Plate which opens the next door for the other, where Anger awaits. The Anger Knath drops the Symbol of Love. Combine the Symbol of Friendship with the Symbol of Love for the Symbol of Commitment.

Note: at several places in the dungeon you may choose to take the "Cold Feet Portal" which leads back to the surface.

The final trial is to conquer Greed. The Greed Knath drops the Symbol of Honor, which when combined with the Symbol of Commitment, makes the Symbol of Marriage!

Giving a Grand Sentinel the Symbol of Marriage initiates a wedding ceremony. At the end of the ceremony, you will receive a Marriage Ring, a Marriage Emblem, and a Promise Gem. When used, this gem produces a burst of fireworks!

The Ceremony

There are 3 Grand Sentinels who can perform the Wedding Ceremony. Invitations with portals to the three locations can be purchased from Wedding Planners (found in the Arcanum Houses in most towns).

You give Grand Sentinel [Name] Symbol of Marriage.

Grand Sentinel [Name]says, "You have come here today to demonstrate your commitment to one another. You come bearing the Symbol of Marriage as proof of that commitment. I accept this Symbol as a your vow that you agree to love, cherish and honor your spouse for all your time here in Dereth."

Grand Sentinel [Name] gives you Emblem of Marriage.

Grand Sentinel [Name] says, "You have made your vows under the Symbol of that which you hold important. Before the witnesses of your friends and family, I now pronounce this union to be made. There is one last step you must take to make this union complete."

Grand Sentinel [Name] gives you Wedding Ring.

Grand Sentinel [Name] says, "May your marriage bring you great happiness. You should take the time to inscribe the Emblem of Marriage with words that show your commitment to your spouse, then present them."

Grand Sentinel [Name] says, "You who stand here as witnesses are the friends and family of those seeking our blessings today. You are charged with the task of helping them in their new role of marriage, to support them in their times of need, and to do all that you can to make their marriage a blessed and happy union."

Grand Sentinel [Name] gives you Promise Gem.

Grand Sentinel [Name] says, "Use this Promise Gem as a final demonstration of your love. When used, the of Marriage becomes complete."
