North Outpost - Lou Ei's Bracelet

At the North Yanshi Outpost (9.9S, 46.6E) you will encounter Lou Ei the Collector, whose favorite bracelet was stolen by those pesky drudges. She will give you a reward for its safe return.

Lou Ei the Collector tells you, "Greetings. If you are a newcomer, I have a small task for you. If you succeed, I shall reward you."
Lou Ei the Collector tells you, "Nearby, just to the east and in a stand of trees, is a small cave infested with drudges. They've stolen my favorite bracelet. If you recover it for me, I'll give you a reward."

Head east until you see the Small Cave (9.8S, 48.0E). There will be two Drudge Skulkers outside the entrance and two more inside guarding the chest.

Inside the chest is Lou Ei's bracelet. The cave is not level restricted nor is there a lock on the chest. Simply pick up the bracelet and head back to the Outpost to return it to Lou Ei.

When you return the bracelet to Lou Ei, she'll give you a piece of writing to give to Scholar Dai Ya in town. (If you Lifestone at the North Outpost, you'll be able to return to quickly from both outpost quests.)

You give Lou Ei the Collector Lou Ei's bracelet.
Lou Ei the Collector tells you, "Wonderful! As a reward, Scholar Dai Ya in town might be interested in this piece of writing."
Lou Ei the Collector gives you Writings.

Writings

The fools look upon the world and see only pleasure
The lost look upon the world and see only pain
The wise look upon the world and see their work cut out for them.

-Jhong Mi

The Scholar Dai Ya is found in The Shining Amethyst tent at 10.6S, 46.3E. He is also the Yanshi's Society Agent for the Exploration Society Letter Quests. Give him the Writings of Jhong Mi for your reward.

Dai Ya the Scholar tells you, "Hello, I am a collector of the writings of Jhong Mi, who was a philosopher who wrote his own interpretations of the teachings of Jojii. If you find any of his writings, please give them to me, and I will reward you. You might start by talking to Lou Ei at the North Outpost, or Te Ven at the South Outpost."

You give Dai Ya the Scholar Writings.
Dai Ya the Scholar tells you, "Copies of this seem to come in often. Ah, well. There are other writings by Jhong Mi in dungeons near Yanshi; if you find any, bring them to me."

Dai Ya the Scholar gives you 2 Potions of Healing.
You've earned 2500 experience.

South Outpost - Writings of Jhong Mi
At the South Yanshi Outpost (15.7S, 46.4E) you'll have the opportunity to meet Te Van the Collector. He'll give you a key and guide you to a nearby ruin, hidden amidst the swamp trees to the east, to collect one of the writings of Jhong Mi. They can then be taken to back to Dai Ya in Yanshi for a reward.

Te Ven the Collector tells you, "Greetings."
Te Ven the Collector tells you, "Nearby, hidden amidst the swamp trees to the east, is the deserted ruin where some lived before Yanshi was founded. Follow the gaze of the statues."
Te Ven the Collector tells you, "Unless you have lockpicking or a friend who has the skill, you will need this key once inside. If you recover one of the writings of Jhong Mi and take it to Scholar Dai Ya in Yanshi, he will reward you and give you more information."

Te Ven the Collector gives you Te Ven's Key.

If you head east, you will come across the Deserted Ruin (16.0S, 47.2E) mentioned by Te Ven, restricted to Levels 1-20. Once inside you'll have three choices: left, straight or right. Take the right corridor. Pass the room with the two drudges and go through the door. At the next intersection take the left split, then bear to the right until you come to a large open room. You'll then pass two Drudge Skulkers and a Drudge Sneaker to find the locked door which is opened by Te Ven's key. If you go too far, you may find a room with a chest on the floor. Be careful! If you step up to the chest, you may trigger the Magic Trap which casts Slowness Other I.

Map: Deserted Ruin

Once you've found the locked door and used your Te Van's key to open it, you will be in a chamber with a chest on the floor, guarded by a Drudge Slinker. The writings of Jhong Mi are in the chest. The writings spawn approximately every 15 minutes.

Writings

Listen to the sound of the falling leaves
Slipping quietly to the beds below
They fear nothing and make no cry
Why do we resist death so much?
We will just be returning
To where we have been growing toward
And we will find rest at last
Listen to the sound of falling leaves.

Deserted Ruin

Ben Ten, a master swordsman and Dereth hero, was last seen alive standing atop a large boulder at the edge of the Blackmire Swamp. Believing that the stone was blessed with his presence, people decided to settle there. This Sacred Stone now rests at the center of Yanshi, which is why the town is also known as the "town of the boulder."
