You have to wonder about the wisdom of Sir Binwas Loc, entrusting the care of a Beacon, whose proper function could have staved off the Olthoi menace, to a lowly mage without the training for the task. You can find out more in the rumor carried by Barkeep Jean Vaden of Sanamar.

Rumor: The Beacon

As the note instructs, speak to Elena du Furza. She'll instruct you to fight through the creatures on the platforms near the tower and place a gem in the Beacon. This quest is intended for players level 9-15.

Elena Du Furza tells you, "The kingdom of Viamont requires your assistance."
Elena Du Furza gives you Beacon Gem.
Elena Du Furza tells you, "The Beacon at the top of the Beacon Tower requires regular maintenance. I have been unable to reach this beacon due to Wasps and other creatures taking up residence on the tower platforms. Place this gem within the beacon and you shall have the satisfaction of knowing that you have done your King a great service."

Once you enter the portal, you'll be on raised platforms. As you make your way to the tower, you'll be fighting Blue Phyntos Wasp and Water Golem. Once you reach the Beacon, hand it your Beacon Gem for a reward! Exit portal on platforms nearby will return you to Sanamar.

You give Beacon Beacon Gem.
You've earned 25,000 experience.

The beacon is emitting a low humming sound and is ready to light up should an attack occur.

Return to Elena for an additional reward!

I understand he has need of assistance in some matter. You may also wish to speak to the Barkeeper Jean Vaden. He sells rumors you may find of interest."

Note: Although there is a timer on getting the gems, you can turn in more than one gem at a time for 25,000 xp; however, you will only receive one set of heal kits and pyreal.

	Beacon Gem
A flawless stone used as a lens for the Beacon Tower. Use the portal at 71.7N 60.9W and climb the tower platforms to the beacon. Once at the top of the platforms, place this stone within the beacon to fix it.
