From the Friend and Foe event.

Turbine quest teaser: "A pyre burns in honor of the last female Fiun to survive the Eaters' onslaught and flee to Dereth. The pyre's guardian seeks characters above level 100 to restock the pyre's fuel, so that the memory of Lunnum is not lost."

Note: Completing this quest flags you for the Thief of Lunnum quest.

To begin the quest, speak to Fiun Gaya on the Halaetan Isles. Fiun Gaya is a located a short run from the Path of the Blind dungeon. You may want to tie to the surface portal. Otherwise, head to Sanamar from Shoushi at 34.3S, 73.4E and take the Eastwatch portal at 71.2N, 61.3W.

NPC: Fiun Gaya - 89.1N, 47.6W

Fiun Gaya tells you, "For years have I tended the fires of Lunnum's Pyre. But now the curse of time has taken its toll upon my body. The fires for which I have cared for so long have now begun to dim. I ask for your help in keeping the light of Lunnum's Pyre forever burning. Seek me out on the Isle of Ruin at 89.1N 47.6W."

Fiun Gaya tells you, "It is for me to welcome you to this place of sadness. I am Fiun Gaya, Keeper of the Light."
Fiun Gaya tells you, "With Lunnum missing and my heart an empty black still my purpose must be fulfilled. That purpose is to be sure that the light of Lunnum's Pyre remains bright and pure."
Fiun Gaya tells you, "To my sorrow, the ravages of time have consumed this old one."
Fiun Gaya tells you, "No longer can I make the journey to re-stoke the fire eternal. Respectfully, I ask for your help."
Fiun Gaya tells you, "A Fiun Hatchet, you will need. Retrieve one from this chest."
Fiun Gaya gives you Story of Lunnum's Pyre.
Fiun Gaya tells you, "Another favor I might ask. Should a Snow Lily be found, perhaps you may bring it to me?"
Fiun Gaya tells you, "Good journey, friend."

Text: Story of Lunnum's Pyre.

The book describes the ritual required to preserve Lunnum's Pyre. You'll first need to retrieve the hatchet from inside the nearby chest (7 day timer). Next, head to the Great Frost Tree to cut a log.

Great Frost Tree - 92.1N, 42.2W
--Creatures:
Copper Gromnie, Brass Gromnie

If you have trouble using the hatchet on the three, try backing up and moving your mouse and targeting the tree higher up.

Your hands grow numb with cold as you hack at the tree with your hatchet. With each strike the tree vibrates and a low ringing sound can be heard as if the tree were moaning. After only a few hacks, the ringing sound changes to a high pitched squeal that threatens to deafen you. And then just as suddenly as it began, all is quiet. At your feet lays a small Ice Log and the shattered remains of your hatchet.

As stated in the ritual, you'll next need to purify the log in the Glacial Waters found inside Abayar's Laboratory.

Abayar's Laboratory - 92.1N, 46.3W
--Levels: all
--Map: Abayar's Laboratory

--Creatures: Frenzied Fuin, Maniacal Fiun, Enoki Thrungus

From the drop go straight heading east. Keep to the right until you reach a large room with three doors. Take the leftmost door on the north wall, then keep right until you reach the Glacial Waters. Use the log on the water to purify it.

The Glacial Water begins to bubble violently as you drop the Ice Log into the water. The surface of the Ice Log seems to melt and coalesce in a rhythmic pattern. With each pulse the log becomes clearer and purer, until it becomes nearly translucent.

The final step in the ritual is placing the purified ice log in a Ruschk Fire.

Ruschk Fire - 90.1N, 51.6W
--Creatures:
Ruschk Sadist, Ruschk Kartak

The Ruschk Fire roars to life as the Purified Ice Log is placed within its flames, but instead of being consumed, the log seems to absorb the Ruschk Fire. You pull the Smoldering Ice Log from the fire just as the flames begin to die out.
You suffer 1 points of damage from the unbearable cold!

Return to Fiun Gaya with the Smoldering Ice Log for your reward: experience and a Luminous Robe!

You give Fiun Gaya Smoldering Ice Log.
Fiun Gaya tells you, "This will do. I thank you."
Fiun Gaya tells you, "Please accept this gift for your service."

You've earned 2,400,000 experience.
Fiun Gaya gives you Luminous Robe.

Note: Fiun Gaya also takes Snow Lilies! You'll hear more details about Fiun Lunnum and the eaters.

You give Fiun Gaya Snow Lily.
Fiun Gaya starts to weep uncontrollably.

Fiun Gaya tells you, "These were Fiun Lunnum's favorite flower. Delicate and pale as her skin."
Fiun Gaya tells you, "It is with sorrow that I did have to end her existence."
Fiun Gaya tells you, "Before judgment is passed, an explanation is needed. Please listen."
Fiun Gaya tells you, "Long ago on our world, we Fiun were a proud race."
Fiun Gaya tells you, "Great achievements were ours and our society did flourish, but arrogant did we become."

Fiun Gaya's eyes turn to stone.
Fiun Gaya tells you, "Gods we thought ourselves to be and so we tried to create life that was equal in beauty to us."
Fiun Gaya tells you, "And that is how the abomination called the Eater was born."
Fiun Gaya tells you, "Nearly destroy us they did and our home they now have, as the last of the Fiun fled here to Dereth."
Fiun Gaya tells you, "And so followed the Eater."
Fiun Gaya tells you, "Not only did we doom our world, we have now also set this world on the same path of destruction."
Fiun Gaya tells you, "So it was with great amazement, that for all the evil that we had done,"
Fiun Gaya tells you, "there was still talk among the Fiun of rebuilding our society. Deserve to live we did not."

Fiun Gaya tells you, "So I killed she who had done no wrong...my beloved Lunnum. I stand here today in penance for my deeds."
You've earned 800,000 experience.

Following is the message you receive when you give multiple Lilies:

You give Fiun Gaya Snow Lily.
Fiun Gaya tells you, "Place this on Lunnum's Pyre I shall. Thank you."
You've earned 800,000 experience.
