From the
A Change in
Tactics event.
These quest notes are provided as a
courtesy until I can do a complete write-up.
Ashla of SC reports: "Myself and Zao-lin did this quest we are in
Disciples of Asheron. Start by talking to Lo Raen @ 33.5S, 72.4E in Shoushi....he
gives you a list of kill quest you must complete before helping him ...after
completeing kill quests return to him.
Cave is at 32.9S...70.5E run down kill the Rat King then loot tail and bring
back to Shoushi to Lo rean.
Dark Sigma of LC reports:
Hello, Maggie!
I come to tell of a new quest that (as of yet) is not on your website. It's
a bit time consuming, but the reward and fun involved is something that
reminds me of the good ol' days. The quest, I received from the Town Crier,
when she reported to me:
You give Town Crier Pyreal.
Town Crier tells you, "Word in Shoushi is that their
Rat Catcher is afraid of some smart rat who has been organizing all the rats
in town."
So, away I went! You can find Lo Raen, Rat Catcher at 33.5S, 72.4E. On a
completely useless note, he carries a very interesting weapon; a sack!
Apparently, it uses mace skill, but the damage and speed are unknown.
ANYWAY, he is in need of a very experienced adventurer:
Lo Raen tells you, "I require an experienced hunter
for the task I have. Let's see what you've hunted..."
Lo Raen tells you, "You haven't finished hunting the Blood Shreth."
Lo Raen tells you, "You haven't finished hunting the Polardillo."
Lo Raen tells you, "You haven't finished hunting the Dire Mattekar."
Lo Raen tells you, "You haven't finished hunting the Littoral Siraluun."
Lo Raen tells you, "You haven't finished hunting the Olthoi Nettler."
Lo Raen tells you, "You haven't finished hunting the Olthoi Nymph."
Lo Raen tells you, "You haven't finished hunting the Olthoi Drone."
Lo Raen tells you, "You are not ready to help me with my problem. Here,
complete the tasks that the people on this list have for you, and I will
allow you to help me."
Text: Lo
Raen's List of Tasks
The first few are pretty easy...Blood Shreth can be found in the Cave of the
Alabree, if you're under level 20, or in the wilderness of Hebian-To (is
where I most readily found mine)
Polardillos are along the beaches, along with a lot of Rushck and Niffis.
I went to the Lugian Encampment for Dire Mattekars, but I think you'd
probably more easily find them in the Mountain Pass of Arwic.
For the Littoral Siraluun, (thanks to your incredible site!) I went to the
Visage of Tonkamu. They spawn 5 at a time, on a ~7 minute timer...it's going
to be the best bet, take my word for it.
I believe that the Arwic Olthoi Hunter is a new set of kill tasks. He asks
you to kill Nymphs, Nettlers, and Drones.
Olthoi Hunter tells you, "I collect Olthoi trophies.
If you're willing to give up yours, I'll return part of it as a useful item.
I can also craft nice helms from Olthoi Heads. If you're interested in
proving your hunting prowess I have some Olthoi that I'd like you to Hunt."
Olthoi Hunter tells you, "Track down and slay 10 Olthoi Nettlers and I will
reward you appropriately."
Olthoi Hunter tells you, "Track down and slay 20 Olthoi Nymphs and I will
reward you appropriately."
Olthoi Hunter tells you, "Track down and slay 20 Olthoi Drones and I will
reward you appropriately."
For Olthoi Nettlers, I found it best to take the Beacon Tower from Sanmar,
and run to the NE, along the beaches and forest, you'll find them in short
time.
For Olthoi Nymphs, I decided to use (and thanks to your site again!) the
Olthoi Brood Hive (20+) at 51.2N, 48.2E
For Drones, I just used the Olthoi Arcade. It makes short work of that task!
=)
When you return to him, he says:
Olthoi Hunter tells you, "I collect Olthoi trophies.
If you're willing to give up yours, I'll return part of it as a useful item.
I can also craft nice helms from Olthoi Heads. If you're interested in
proving your hunting prowess I have some Olthoi that I'd like you to Hunt."
Olthoi Hunter tells you, "Excellent work, friend! You have slain many Olthoi
Nettlers! Allow me to reward you!"
You've recieved 25,000 experience.
Olthoi Hunter gives you Perforated Knight Token.
Olthoi Hunter gives you Perforated Knight Plaque.
Olthoi Hunter tells you, "Just give that token back to
me if you'd like to be officially recognized as a Perforated Knight."
Olthoi Hunter tells you, "Excellent work, friend! You
have slain many Olthoi Nymphs! Allow me to reward you!"
You've earned 80,000 experience.
Olthoi Hunter gives you Nymph Maniac (LOL!)
Token.
Olthoi Hunter gives you Nymph Maniac Plaque.
Olthoi Hunter tells you, Just give that token back to
me if you'd like to be officially recognized as a Nymph Maniac."
Olthoi Hunter tells you, "Excellent
work, friend! You have slain many Olthoi Drones! Allow me to reward you!"
You've earned 120,000 experience.
Olthoi Hunter gives you Pest Control Token.
Olthoi Hunter gives you Pest Control Plaque.
Olthoi Hunter tells you, "Just give that token back to
me if you'd like to be officially recognized as Pest Control."
After all of these tasks have been completed, go back to Lo Raen, who will
give you his task:
Lo Raen tells you, "I require an experienced hunter
for the task I have. Let's see what you've hunted..."
Lo Raen tells you, "Excellent, I believe you are ready to help me with my
little problem."
Lo Raen tells you, "You see, the rats in town have been getting a bit bolder
than we would prefer. It seems they have some sort of leader organizing them
and helping them to steal the town's food supplies. It's my job to keep the
rats out of town, so I'm too busy to go frolicking about the countryside
looking for some leader rat."
Lo Raen tells you, "You must go and find this clever rat and kill it before
I lose my job. I've heard rumors that it lives in a cave to the west of
town. Go and bring me proof of the clever rat's demise and I will reward you
as only a Rat Catcher can."
After awhile of "frolicking about the countryside," I found the
aforementioned cave at 32.9S, 70.5E. Inside are Black, Red, Mountain, and
Silver rats. In addition, there is the great Rat King! And he casts magic!!
Upon killing him, you loot the Rat King tail. Strewn about the cave is all
the food that they've been stealing! Naughty rats, if I do say so myself.
You give Lo Raen Rat King's Tail.
Lo Raen tells you, "Ah yes, that was a big rat, wasn't
it? You appear unscathed as well. Excellent work my friend. Now you will see
the ancient rat catcher art of rat tail weaving." (Uh, ick?)
Lo Raen gives you Rat Tail Bracelet.
Lo Raen gives you Rat Reaper Token.
You've earned 500,000 experience.
Lo Raen tells you, "Ok then, you have proven yourself
worthy of the title Rat Reaper."
And that's the end of that quest! The bracelet isn't too bad.Thank you for
all of your wonderful years of service to the people of Asheron's Call,
Maggie the Jackcat =)

(P.S.) Is it just me, or is the Olthoi Hunter a shape shifter?
