Reinforced Oaken and Mahogany Chests were introduced when the Direlands were updated with the high level playground nicknamed the VoD (Valley of Death). New high level creatures drop either Twisted Dark Keys or Mangled Dark Keys which can be carved into Marble and Granite Keys using an Intricate Carving Tool.

The chests contain 60 or so items including high workmanship items, occasional Minors, and Level VI and VII scrolls. Some compare the loot to Singularity Trove quality. There is a timer on picking up the keys and they may be given.

The difficulty to carve Marble Keys is 300. If you succeed, you'll receive the following message:

You effortlessly realign the twisted key careful not to snap the rigid marble.

If you fail, you receive this message and your key is destroyed:

You apply too much pressure to the twisted mass of marble and unfortunately snap the key at its center. The aged marble crumbles to dust and is carried away on the wind.

The difficulty to carve Granite Keys is 325. If you succeed, you'll receive the following message:

You carefully adjust the teeth on the mangled key returning it to a state of usability.

The chests are found spawning in the Direlands in the VoD (Valley of Death - high level hunting ground).

To reach the VoD, take the NW Dires portal from Aerlinthe, then take the Obsidian Rim portal.

You can also run east from Ayan Baqur and tie to the Black Dominion portal at 49.0S, 66.4W or the lifestone at 48.0S, 65.1W.

The Direlands Valley portal at 74.2S, 52.4W will also drop you directly at the VoD.

This key appears to have been a light marble once, but the years have dulled the color to a deep grey. With some clever locksmithing, and perhaps an intricate carving took, you may be able to clean it up.

This key looks to have been carved from granite, but it's been twisted with years of misuse and neglect. With some clever locksmithing, however, and perhaps an intricate carving tool, you may be able to straighten it out.
