From the Friend and Foe event.

Dungeon Dan of WE reports a new NPC Dionaea can be found behind the bar building in Ayan (59.7S, 88.0W): "Apparently there are monster plants, apparently they drop seeds, and apparently she wants them! :)"

Dionaea tells you, "If you bring me five of the red monster seeds, I will do my best to cultivate one of them for you. Then you can have your very own Fly Trap!"

From Shadow Tempest of TD:

Hi Maggie,

I went to Ayan to talk to Dionaea, she talked about red monster seeds and returning 5 to her. She would then try to repot one and see if it would grow for me. I hunted for about an hour all around ayan and did eventually find 5 red monster seeds. They were just laying about on the ground.

After gathering my seeds I took them back to Dionaea. After turning in all 5 seeds she gave me a seedling plant, telling me that I needed to feed it but to choose correctly because this special type of plant only ate once in its lifetime.

I tried several things, tummie meats, wings, rations, even tried to give it a sho brain, pengiun wing and viatmonian torso but it just wouldnt eat, then I heard about a barkeep at MacNiall's Freehold that had sausages. I thought what the heck and ran out there. I purchased several sausages, holding one above my little seedling, it snatched it in its jaws? and started growing right away til it stood taller than me.

Remembering what Dionaea had said about it growing and to return it to her if it got too large, I returned to Ayan and showed her the plant. She smiled and put fertilizer on it then returned it to me.

My new plant is now sitting in our allegiance villa as our new watchdog.

You give Dionaea Red Monster Seed.
Dionaea tells you, "Excellent, excellent! Bring me just four more of the red monster seeds and I will do my best to cultivate one of them for you. Then you can have your very own Fly Trap!"
You give Dionaea Red Monster Seed.
Dionaea tells you, "Thank you so much! Bring me just three more of the red monster seeds and I will do my best to cultivate one of them for you. Then you can have your very own Fly Trap!"
You give Dionaea Red Monster Seed.
Dionaea tells you, "Oh, how beautiful! Bring me just two more of the red monster seeds and I will do my best to cultivate one of them for you. Then you can have your very own Fly Trap!"
You give Dionaea Red Monster Seed.
Dionaea tells you, "Thank you, thank you! Bring me just one more of the red monster seeds and I will do my best to cultivate one of them for you. Then you can have your very own Fly Trap!"
You give Dionaea Red Monster Seed.
Dionaea tells you, "Excellent! With all these seeds you have brought me, I should be able to grow many more Fly Traps! Here, allow me to gift you with a sprout!"
You give Dionaea Red Monster Seed.
Dionaea tells you, "Isn't that the most adorable thing? Now listen carefully -- this plant isn't full grown yet! Before it reaches its full growth it needs to be fed a big meal. Fly traps generally prefer meat of some sort, but they will sometimes eat other things as well. You may have to experiment a bit."
Dionaea smiles at you fondly.
Dionaea tells you, "A plant like this will really only eat one meal in its lifetime, so choose that meal with care. If you feed your sprout well, you may end up with a truly monstrous Fly Trap. If that happens, bring it back here and I'll fertilize it for you."
Dionaea tells you, "And remember, if you bring me more seeds, I will cultivate more sprouts for you."

From Nefarious Apex of VT:

In order to solve this quest you must collect 5 Red Monster Seeds. They can be found on the ground in the west Dires. I found most of mine fairly close to Ayan. Go to Dionaea in Ayan to turn them in once you have collected them all. Dionaea will give you a Red Monster Sprout. The town crier suggested that plants eat sausage, so I fed it a drudge gut sausage, the best kind I knew of. The fly trap I received from this was "moderately-sized." The NPC says that if the plant is fed well and grows to be monstrous, bring it back to be fertilized. There must be something better out there to feed it.

The sprout consumes the food with apparent glee. And then it grows! And grows!

You allow Dionaea to examine your Fly Trap.
Dionaea tells you, "Ahh ... the pure beauty of nature!"

From Crimson Shade of SC:

Npc in ayan by the name of Dionaea is looking for 5 red monster seeds. I found these seeds as ground spawns in the area surrounding ayan (similar to plant spawns). Once I turned the 5 plants into her, I was given a flytrap seedling, which she told me I needed to feed. Then return it to her if it was a monstrous specimen and she would fertilize it. She also said that I might have to experiment with different foods till I found something it liked. I fed it an olthoi egg and it grew into a monstrous flytrap. After returning to her and giving the plant to her, she gave me a fertilized flytrap, which could be placed on a house hook.

The plant once hooked can be used, and casts blessing of the flytrap on you. This spell has a duration of 3 hours, and increases health recovery by 25%, and does layer with other spells.

Dibbuk of MT reports an NPC in Tou-Tou named Sera Sen (28.3S, 95.7E) takes the new Monster Seeds and will return a big houseplant if you hand in 5. Thanks also to Brunswick of SC!

Thanks also to Cody Planeswalker of SC, Triscuit of TD.

Ophar Kabitaki sends this summary of the three types:

Red - Ayan Baqur - Olthoi Egg - Flytrap - +25% health regen

Yellow - Tou-Tou - Olthoi Egg - Pitcher - +25% Stam regen

Orange - Stonehold - Olthoi Egg - Sundew - +25% mana regen

To obtain the spells you MUST take the fed plant back to the NPC to have it fertilized.

Location of seeds:

Red - VOD for me personally. Have heard around AB and Teth too.

Yellow - Between Glenden Woods and Zaikhal on the map, I ran a big circle at the southern tip of the dark green wooded area and found 5 in an hour or less.

Orange - West of Danby's running the shoreline of the inner sea. Took a while but didn't find any anywhere else.

The sprout consumes the food with apparent glee. And then it grows! And grows! And grows some more! This is a monster plant!

You give Sara Sen Monster Pitcher Plant.
Sara Sen tells you, "Look at that! What a beauty!"
Sara Sen adds some drops of fertilizer to the pot.
Sara Sen tells you, "There you are!"
Sara Sen gives you Fertilized Pitcher Plant.

Note: you may also feed your plant a brown lump (from K'naths) to receive the final spell-casting version!
