Town Crier tells you, "Strange gems are being carried by some creatures. They seem to lead to secret locations that we haven't heard of before. Go figure."

The Dark Towers gem was one of the rare drop portal gems introduced during the Mired Hearts event.

Mr Adventure aka Yaroz of MT reports: "While I was running along the bottom edge of the Black Hills, something tripped off, saying that it was not recognized. I came to find Consumed Wraith, Shadow Nightmares and a Shadow Nightmare Leader on top of a hill. I could not pull them down, because level 7’s were too short of range to reach them. The coords were around 67.5S, 76.5W and 68.1W, 77W. At the end of the quest, there are two Consumed Wraith’s that drop the Shadow Stone Necklace, along with a runed chest that I got some decent loot from."

To reach the Dark Towers you must find a gem portal gem off a Shadow Spectre or a Shadow Phantom.

Note: make sure you're outside on a flat area before using your rare gem! You may wish to test the area with a starter town gem before using your Dark Towers quest gem!

After using your gem you'll be atop a pillar on the Obsidian Plains inhabited by a Shadow Spectre, Abyssal Shadows, Destroyer Grievvers and a Shadow Phantom Leader. When you kill the leader, a 2nd portal opens. (The leader cannot be lured to fall from the edge of the pillar from below.)

On the second tower you'll be fighting Shadow Wraiths, Shadow Phantoms, Bane Grievvers and a Shadow Phantom Leader.

The Consumed Wraith is in a bunker at the top of the third tower. Its corpse contains 5 Shadow Stone Necklaces (7 day timer). It's guarded by Shadow Nightmares, Shadow Wraiths and more Shadow Phantoms. You will also find a high level Runed Chest inside! Use caution! Smoke and lightning cause a static charge to build around the bunker and lightning shoots out in all directions as you approach!

Take heed! With the loss of our Lord, many shadows seek leadership other than the old generals. A new dark power is rising near the crater where our Lord was first imprisoned. Come and bask in the dark glory! We shall rise anew and consume this land with darkness! This portal summoning gem works best if used outside in a relatively flat area.
