From the Throne of Destiny Expansion.

Rumor: An Alliance of Merchants

This quest will take the novice adventurer on a journey to the three capital cities of Dereth: Yaraq, Shoushi, and Holtburg. Start the quest by speaking to Anton Sillezi in Sanamar.

NPC: Anton Silezzi - 71.9N, 60.8W (Sanamar)

Anton motions for you to come closer.
Anton Sillezi tells you, "You seem to be a person that is out to see the world."
Anton Sillezi tells you, "Perhaps you could do me a favor?"
Anton Sillezi tells you, "I want to establish a trade network between Holtburg, Yaraq and Shoushi."
Anton Sillezi tells you, "To do that I need a brave and stu..courageous soul such as yourself to make contact with the local merchants of those towns."
Anton Sillezi tells you, "Here. I've prepared these letters inviting them to my trade network."

Anton Sillezi gives you Lubziklan al-Luq Trade Proposal.
Anton Sillezi gives you Gonjoku Den Trade Proposal.
Anton Sillezi gives you Renald the Eldest Trade Proposal.

Anton Sillezi tells you, "This letter goes to Lubziklan al-Luq of Yaraq."
Anton Sillezi tells you, "This one to Gonjoku Den of Shoushi."
Anton Sillezi tells you, "And this last one to Renald the Eldest of Holtburg."
Anton Sillezi tells you, "Return to me when you have received an answer and I'll reward you handsomely."
Anton Sillezi tells you, "Not that I don't trust your memory, but here are directions so you don't get lost."

Anton Sillezi gives you Trade Contacts.

You can find conveniently-placed portals to Yaraq, Shoushi, and Holtburg just outside the Sanamar city gate. To start, take the one to Shoushi at 72.3N, 60.7W (which exits at 33.5S, 72.8E) and seek out Gonjoku Den, just outside the town walls.

NPC: Gonjoku Den - 33.4S, 73.3E (Shoushi)

Simply speaking to Gonjoku Den prompts him to ramble a bit:

Gonjoku Den tells you, "Gentle is the breeze that passes through these trees."
Gonjoku Den tells you, "Please excuse the ramblings of an old fool."
Gonjoku Den turns away to listen to the wind.

Enough of that, let's get down to business. To begin this leg of the quest, hand Gonjoku Den the Gonjoku Den Trade Proposal from Anton Sillezi:

You give Gonjoku Den Gonjoku Den Trade Proposal.

Gonjoku Den reads the Trade Proposal from Anton Sillezi.
Gonjoku Den tells you, "A most sound idea."
Gonjoku Den tells you, "But can this Anton be trusted with such responsibility and power?"
Gonjoku Den tells you, "I cannot as yet test this Anton."
Gonjoku Den tells you, "But since he has seen fit to place his trust in you."
Gonjoku Den tells you, "I shall test you in his stead."
Gonjoku Den tells you, "Travel East until you reach the banks of the great river."
Gonjoku Den tells you, "Then travel south until you find the entrance to a Mossy Cave."
Gonjoku Den tells you, "Go there and bring me a sample of the Mossy Herb that grows within."

Head to the Mossy Cave at 34.1S, 74.9E. It's a short, safe run.

--Map:
Mossy Cave
--Levels: all
--Creatures: Brown Rat, Mosswart Feeder, Barker Mosswart, Mudlurk Mosswart
--Timer: 7 days (on the Mossy Herb)

Once in the cave, head to the bottom of the dungeon and pick up a Mossy Herb, which has a 7-day timer. Once you have the herb, return it to Gonjoku:

You give Gonjoku Den Mossy Herb.
Gonjoku Den tells you, "Most excellent! You are a courageous and honerable person."
Gonjoku Den tells you, "This reflects well on Anton Sillezi."
Gonjoku Den tells you, "Return to Anton Sillezi and give him this letter. I accept his trade proposal."
Gonjoku Den tells you, "And this is for you. It is a potion made from the moss you retrieved."
Gonjoku Den tells you, "May your journey be swift and safe. Farewell."

Gonjoku Den gives you Gonjoku's Mana Infusion.
Gonjoku Den gives you Gonjoku Den Trade Agreement.
You've earned 5,000 experience.

For the next leg of the journey, take the portal to Yaraq at 33.8S, 72.8E.  The portal exits at 21.5S, 1.8W; once there, seek out Lubziklan al-Luq. Lubziklan is an old friend from a number of other quests, including the Yaraq starter quests, and may be found just south of the Yaraq town proper.

NPC: Lubziklan al-Luq - 22.4S, 1.8W (Yaraq)

If you simply speak to him, he will start you out on the Cove Apple quest, one of the Yaraq starter quests.  Instead, hand him the trade proposal from Anton Sillezi:

You give Lubziklan al-Luq Lubziklan al-Luq Trade Proposal.
Lubziklan al-Luq tells you, "What is this?"
Lubziklan al-Luq reads the letter.
Lubziklan al-Luq tells you, "Bah! I've no time for this right now."
Lubziklan al-Luq tells you, "Those pesky Drudges have broken into my wine cellar and are drinking all my wine."
Lubziklan al-Luq tells you, "Perhaps if you were to solve my problem, I'd consider signing a trade agreement with Anton."
Lubziklan al-Luq tells you, "I keep my wine in an old abandoned Drudge Hovel southeast of here."
Lubziklan al-Luq tells you, "Bring back my Cove Apple Wine and we'll talk."

Lubziklan al-Luq gives you Wine Cellar Key.

The Drudge Hovel that he speaks of is located at
23.7S, 0.2W and has no level restrictions.

--Map:
Drudge Hovel
--Levels: all
--Creatures: Drudge Skulker, Drudge Sneaker, Drudge Prowler,
Drudge Servant, Drudge Slave, Drudge Robber, Red Rat

Use the Wine Cellar Key that you got from Lubziklan on the Wine Cellar Door. At the bottom of the dungeon you will find a Wine Chest. Inside you'll discover a bottle of the finest Cove Apple Wine that Lubziklan wants back, as well as an exquisite Glorious Apple. Return to Lubziklan for your reward.

You give Lubziklan al-Luq Cove Apple Wine.
Lubziklan al-Luq tells you, "You were only able to retrieve one bottle!"
Lubziklan al-Luq tells you, "It was my best batch of wine too."
Lubziklan al-Luq tells you, "Well, you certainly tried your best."
Lubziklan al-Luq tells you, "And I'm sure those Drudges will think twice before they steal from me again."
Lubziklan al-Luq tells you, "I did some thinking while you were away and decided that this Anton Silezzi might be on to something."
Lubziklan al-Luq tells you, "So I have decided to join his network of merchants."
Lubziklan al-Luq tells you, "Take this letter to him."

You've earned 5,000 experience.
Lubziklan al-Luq gives you Lubziklan al-Luq Trade Agreement.

Text: Lubziklan al-Luq Trade Agreement

If you hand Libziklan al-Luq the Glorious Apple that you found in the Drudge Hovel along with his missing Cove Apple Wine, he responds enthusiastically:

You give Lubziklan al-Luq Glorious Apple.
Lubziklan al-Luq tells you, "This is the most spectacular apple I have ever seen!"
Lubziklan al-Luq tells you, "I must have it! Perhaps I can grow a tree from this."

Lubziklan al-Luq givess you 200 Pyreals.

If you happen to hand Lubziklan a Bruised Apple from the Training Dungeon, you get this response:

You give Lubziklan al-Luq Bruised Apple.
Lubziklan al-Luq tells you, "You know, I used to have faith in my fellow man, but trying to pass this bruised apple for one found in my orchard re-affirms my belief that people are untrustworthy!
"

Oops. Well, on to the next merchant. Take the Holburg portal at 21.3S, 1.8W, which will drop you at 42.1N, 33.6E, very near your next stop, Renald the Eldest.

NPC: Renald the Eldest - 42.1N, 33.8E (Holtburg)

Begin by speaking to Renald, who has set up shop behind the store run by his son and grandson. You'll find that he's not the most affable person you've met:

Renald the Eldest tells you, "Well? What do ya want?"
Renald the Eldest tells you, "Skeak up! Olthoi got yer tongue?"
Renald the Eldest tells you, "If ya ain't got nothing to say then beat it!"

Hold your ground and don't let him scare you off!  Instead, hand him the final Trade Proposal given to you by Anton Sillezi in Sanamar:

You give Renald the Eldest the Eldest Trade Proposal.
Renald the Eldest reads the Trade Proposal.

Renald the Eldest tells you, "I tell ya what. I needs time to think on this."
Renald the Eldest tells you, "Instead of standing there like a dang fool."
Renald the Eldest tells you, "Why don't ya go an fetch my Da's old mug for me."
Renald the Eldest tells you, "I saw some Drudges make off with it along with a bottle of Apple Cider."
Renald the Eldest tells you, "I hear tell they gone and holed up in a small cave South of here. Try looking around 36.9N 35.1E."
Renald the Eldest tells you, "By the time ya go and bring back me Da's old mug, I'll have a reply ready for ya."

If you speak to him again before finishing the task he gave you, he responds with more attitude:

Renald the Eldest tells you, "Eh? Ya lost or something."
Renald the Eldest tells you, "Perhaps you were kicked in the head by an Auroch?"
Renald the Eldest tells you, "The cave is South of here at 36.9N 35.1E."
Renald the Eldest tells you, "Go and get my Da's old mug and be quick about it."
Renald the Eldest tells you, "Oh...and did I mention all the Ursuins around the cave?"

Best just to do as he asks and find his mug! The area around the cave he mentions can be hazardous to low-level adventurers, since it is inhabited by quite a few Drudges and Ursuins. The cave itself is a simple hole in the ground (no portal). Inside are some Drudges guarding Renald's Old Mug laying on the ground.  Pick it up and return it to Renald the Crabby, er, Eldest:

You give Renald the Eldest Renald's Old Mug.
Renald the Eldest tells you, "Gyah! Me Da's mug. Ya found it!"
Renald the Eldest tells you, "Um right. Me answer then."
Renald the Eldest tells you, "You can go and tell this Ursuin-spawned dog Anton that Renald the Eldest says..."
Renald the Eldest tells you, "NO!"
Renald the Eldest tells you, "I'll not be trading with no accursed Vianomtian."
Renald the Eldest tells you, "Why? Well...cuz they're BLUE!"

Renald the Eldest stares at you as if waiting for you to agree.
You've earned 5,000 experience.
Renald the Eldest gives you Trade Note (15,000).
Renald the Eldest gives you Renald the Eldest Refusal.

Text: Renald the Eldest Refusal

Hmmmm... seems that didn't quite go as planned.  Well, nothing to do at this point except head back to Sanamar to report in to Anton Sillezi.  There's a conveniently placed portal back to Sanamar east of Holtburg at 41.0N, 35.5E.  Once you're back in Sanamar, speak to Anton Sillezi again:

Anton Sillezi tells you, "You're back. Let me check your progress."
Anton Sillezi tells you, "I haven't heard from Lubziklan al-Luq of Yaraq."
Anton Sillezi tells you, "I haven't heard from Gonjoku Den of Shoushi."
Anton Sillezi tells you, "I haven't heard from Renald the Eldest of Holtburg."

Let's start with the good news.  Handing Anton the note from Lubziklan al-Luq seems to make him happy:

You give Anton Sillezi Lubziklan al-Luq Trade Agreement.
Anton takes the letter and reads it.

Anton Sillezi tells you, "It seems I am in your debt."
You've earned 5,000 experience.
Anton Sillezi tells you, "Hurry back when you have word from any of the other merchants."

So far, so good.  Now for the reply from Gonjoku Den:

You give Anton Sillezi Gonjoku Den Trade Agreement.
Anton takes the letter and reads it.
Anton Sillezi tells you, "Ah! Good news indeed. Thank you for your help."
You've earned 5,000 experience.
Anton Sillezi tells you, "Hurry back when you have word from any of the other merchants."

That seemed to go well, too!  Finally, the one you've been worrying about - Renald the Eldest's refusal:

You give Anton Sillezi Renald the Eldes Refusal.
Anton takes the letter and reads it.

Anton Sillezi tells you, "WHAT! That old fool! I can't prove it, but I'm sure this is somehow your fault."
Anton Sillezi tells you, "Now I'll have to think of a way to smooth things over."

You've earned 5,000 experience.
Anton Sillezi tells you, "Thanks for all your help. Here's something that'll help you carry all you stuff in future travels."
Anton Sillezi tells you, "What? Were you expecting more?"
Anton Sillezi tells you, "I must be getting soft. Here's a little extra for your troubles."
Anton Sillezi tells you, "Oh. If you're looking for something to do, you might talk to Seneschal Dalmour."
Anton Sillezi tells you, "I hear he's looking for experienced adventurers."

Anton Sillezi gives you Trade Note (25,000).
Anton Sillezi give you Pack.

Well, that wasn't so bad... he certainly could have taken the news a lot worse!  Since you don't need it any more, you can give Anton back his list of Trade Contacts:

You give Anton Sillezi Trade Contacts.
Anton Sillezi tells you, "I guess you don't need directions then."
Anton Sillezi tells you, "Don't be getting lost because I'm not going to look for you."
Anton Sillezi tells you, "It'll be cheaper to hire another person than to pay to have your bones found."

Good thing you waited to return that!
