I'm still hard at work filling in submissions for my housing section and filling out Monarchy information. Strangely enough, I haven't had a single Darktide resident volunteer their residential information. Huh. Must be chicken.

(Just kidding!!! Please don't kill me!!! ;-)

April 29, 2004
The new housing section is a hit! I'm still working on adding resident submissions! Keep them coming! :)

You can see how the section works by looking at the Hero's Vale settlement page! There are residents from three different servers listed and a Harvestgain allegiance, the Legends of Cragstone, occupies 5 of the 6 villas in the settlement!

If you'd like to add your name as a resident to any housing settlement, simply go to that settlement page and use the email link in the right column to send your GAME NAME & SERVER to me. If you live in a non-unique named "Villa" or "Cottage" you'll also have to include the coordinates. (Monarchy info is still in progress.)

Ibn has sent word that the zone is experiencing technical difficulties. If you're having trouble getting in game, try using the Quick Launch link. The tentative date for the May event has also been announced: Wednesday May 12, 6:00 AM - 11:00 AM PDT!

April 27, 2004
Update: Letter to the Players for May is up here or in the Mired Hearts patch section here! Turbine has also increased its customer service with the Fuze Q&A Suite as its knowledge base provider. You can read the Press Release & announcement here!

Several months ago, you may remember me asking for help with some boring, tedious research! Real life circumstances put things on hold for a bit, but I'm happy to announce yet another new addition to the site: housing information!! You can find information on all the housing settlements in Dereth under the Tourism section! Click on a settlement name for # of units, trophy item needed to purchase, shortest route, closest town and lifestone, and here's the fun part, a list of residents (currently awaiting your submissions)!

The residential information is strictly voluntary (unless you own a mansion)! I thought it would be fun for players to have somewhere to publicly post where they live. (For example, I live here!) If you'd like to add your name as a resident to any housing settlement, simply go to that settlement page and use the email link in the right column to send your GAME NAME & SERVER to me. If you live in a non-unique named "Villa" or "Cottage" you'll also have to include the coordinates.

My volunteers also collected the names of all mansion owners and their allegiance information for me. As I loooong ago mentioned, I was putting my Monarchy section on hold until I re-envisioned what I wanted to do with it. Now, when you pull up Mansion records, the owner of the mansion will be listed, along with a link to allegiance information in my Monarchy section. (If your allegiance is based at a Villa, it may also be listed.) Only a small fraction of this information has been filled in so far, so if you don't see your Monarchy listed, it may still be slated to be added. Once I get all my information uploaded into the database and the Monarchy section filled out, I'll be posting requests for verification a server at a time. Until then, please hold off sending allegiance information!

Special thanks to Arboc of SC for coding this section! I tell him what I want to do and he makes it happen! He figured out the tricky problem of how to deal with those sneaky settlements with both Cottages and Villas! Thanks to my many volunteers who collected info for this section, and especially Furay the Less of HG and Svetlana the Homeless of HG!

Cinna Bella of WE send info on the lower level Blackmire Lore rewards! You can find more info on the patch page!

Turbine is also looking for feedback on what we'd like for Turbine Nation 2004!

April 21, 2004
Turbine has posted more information on Verdentine, the new server, and the 6th character slot. You can find it here!

April 20, 2004
I finally got a chance to update A New Threat patch page! Now that I've finally had a chance to go through all the submissions, I have a better handle on what's missing. I could still use pics and stats of some of the lower quest rewards, along with some of the quest creatures and various mites! Thanks once again to everyone who sent in patch info! My Dad says hi! :)

New raiment, new armor, a new quest temple and lore, loot updates, back-flipping mites, level 7 dispels, little bitty baby beasties, and a new mayor! I think this just might be the best patch ever!

Ibn has posted an announcement about Turbine Nation 2004, the larger player gathering which includes this year's ACPL! You can find it here! I know I'll be there!

There's also a new feedback thread on the Turbine forums regarding stackable archmage gems.

April 18, 2004
I warned you I wouldn't have much time! ;-) I still have a huge pile of patch submissions to go through, so if you still don't see your name up, it doesn't mean that I don't love you! I just wanted to pop in a link to the latest Transition Update from Jessica on the Turbine site, in case you haven't seen it yet. I'll be back soon! :)

April 15, 2004
I made a good start on the A New Threat patch page, but I still have over 150 submissions to go through. You guys were killing me with those .bmps!! :-) Thanks to everyone who sent in info for the patch! As I mentioned yesterday, I'll have out of town guest, so my time will be very limited for the next few days, but I'll fill things in in due time and there should be enough there to get you started.

April 14, 2004
It's patch day! I'll be updating the A New Threat patch page throughout the day as I'm able. I know you've gotten used to me being a little slower with the updates these last few patches, what with the head injury and all. ;-) I want to give a heads up that the trend may continue. I have a busy day scheduled at the office and have out of town guests coming in on Thursday. Plus, er, I haven't finished my taxes!! I'll do my best, though. Just a reminder to use the jackcat@spacestar.net email address for screenshots! And don't forget your in-game name!

Update: Rollout Article and Dev Notes are now available!

If you need help taking screenshots, please visit the Mail and Screenshots Tips page!

I've also been browsing the DevTracker on the Turbine boards and am happy to report, for those concerned, that the "Elder Game" mentioned in the Expansion plans will NOT require PK. Ibn said so. 621 times. ;-)

April 13, 2004
It's official! You can read the Press Release about the expansion pack here!

A new article, Changes in the Air, has also been posted on the Turbine site. You can also find a copy in the patch section here.

The Ulgrim's April Fools quest is over, but Ulgrim is still having his issues! Visit the Across the Vast Divide patch page for a look at the new and improved Ulgrim: Ulgrim the Unappreciated, a slightly smaller version of our old friend. You can also find new Ulgrim the Unpleasant sayings from after the quest ended on the quest page.

Some of you may remember Damien Saren, the author of the original Aerlinthe Report. He's back, and with a vengeance! The Vault has for download an amazing movie he created showing an overview of AC. It's big, but worth a look if you've got the connection for it. You can find it here: Asheron's Call: The Movie (39.1MB). The DivX codec is required to play this movie.

April 7, 2004

April 4, 2004
I spoke to Rage Lao of MT and asked him if he'd mind answering a few questions about his participation in the latest event, questions such as, "Do you feel as if you may have personally unwittingly brought doom on the inhabitants of Dereth?" ;-) You can read his responses here!

I've also begun cleaning up the Armor section and adding any missing pieces. Loot armor still to be added.

April 3, 2004
The Ulgrim's April Fools quest page
has been revised into a full write-up with many many sayings added! Thanks to everyone who helped fill in missing bits and pieces!

There are also a few new announcements from Turbine. Worlds will be brought down Tuesday April 6th, 6:00 AM - 9:00 AM PST for server maintenance and Envoys will begin uninscribing items this weekend. See this post for details!

April 1, 2004
Ulgrim has finally appeared in Rithwic. If you ask him where he's been, it seems he's been hanging out in a... er... Suddy skunk hut?

Ulgrim the Unintelligible tells you, "Feh!"
Ulgrim the Unintelligible tells you, "Suddy skunk hut, carenzi 7.1 fishpliers! 71.6 Epileptic spongemonkies!"

Thanks to Nuisu Og of FF for the report! Additional sayings added to the Across the Vast Divide patch page and to the Ulgrim's April Fools quest page. Thanks also to Wiz Dev of TD!
