After analyzing my stats recently and
realizing how popular the Exploration
Society Letters Quests were, in addition to the numerous letters I've
received lately from newbies, I thought it would be a good idea to put the
starter quests up in the quest section. Since I've already researched and
written them, it will just be a matter of tweaking and reformatting them.
I've started with the Al-Arqas
and Holtburg quests. I hope
to have the rest up in the next few days.

I've finally added the fabulous
screenshots to the Hieromancer's Armor quest.
Thanks to Danier and Doogen for sending them to me! That's not really my
armor to the right. Danier let me borrow his, just to see what it looks
like. The crest is gorgeous! There's a nice shot of Danier, Ubaldi and
Money (Doogen's mule) posing in the three different colors holding the
Hieromancer's Orb, the Blue Orb and the Globe of Auberean. You'll notice
that the dark blue coat is missing. Oh well, you can't win them all! ;-)
Good luck next week, Doogen! We're all rooting for you!
I also sent out a new
newsletter yesterday. If you've signed up and didn't receive one, drop
me an email. There seemed to be a significantly larger than usual
number of bounce-backs, especially from @excite and @home users.

Thanks to Danier for sending in a few
corrections on the Hieromancer's Armor quest.
It's a Diamond Golem which drops the Key for the Dress Trunk in the
Lyceum, not the Guardian. The Guardian is at the Hieromancer's Hall and
will cast a nice spell on you at death. It's also now confirmed that the
Geode drops in both the lower and medium dungeon. Check out the quest page
for other modifications and additions. I hope to have screenshots up in
the near future! Thanks to Yu Da-Len and Senshin of MT for additional
details!
Congratulations to my
wonderful vassal on Level 60!

Everyone wants to know how to get one of those
cool Power Rangers suits and that neato globe thingy. Find out here in the
Hieromancer's Armor quest.
There's lots of goodies to be had, including a Cooking V Dress and Boots
of the Vault. Even the scribes got love this month! I think this just may
be the best patch ever!

I added my fabulous
screenshots to the Singularity
Quest. Belated thanks to Rashyd al-Razi (formerly known as the
guy whose name starts with an "R"). More patch info coming soon!
;-)
Letters
updated: Red Jewels, Virindi Shrouds and a charming little ditty about
Pack Golems! Everyone loves toys.

It's another new quest! Find out how to make a
Singularity Weapon, those
sparkly blue Axes, Maces, Spears and Swords, in another great quest from
this month's patch! Or if magic's more your scene, learn a new method for
obtaining Diamond Scarabs. Thanks to Danier, Ned Cleversun, Mac the Axe
and the guy whose name starts with an "R" (sorry!) for the
fun!
Even bigger news! Maggie the
Jackcat closes the level gap back to 20 as she levels to 39!

Ask and ye shall receive! Thanks for the very
many, many of you who stopped by to put in a nice word and to boost the
stats on my ratings page of the Top 100 list. *sniff* I love you guys!!
*wipes tear from eye*
I told my vassal I wouldn't
get into a pissing match with a certain clan again, but really, it doesn't
take a rocket scientist to figure out who's bringing my stats down.
And as much as I'd like to take credit for the comments that have been
attributed to me, I really can't. It's not my style to say nasty things
under the cloak of anonymity. I prefer to do it right here on my Update
page where I can be assured of the greatest possible audience!
As a small matter of
housekeeping, I have gone ahead and removed the external link to EpiK's
portal map in response to the following:
"For the record,
Maggie has purloined some stuff off our site without permission, too -
EpiK portal map, anyone?)"
Go figure. I thought most
sites *liked* links! ;-)

New quest! Thanks to the assistance of Gheres
Reficul and his mighty Bandit Blade, I've posted information on the new
Tumerok Outposts! You can find full details in the quest section under the
Tumerok Vanguard Outposts.
More coming soon! ;)
On another note, my ratings on
the Top 100 list took a nose dive the other day in a way that could only
have happened by several people rating my site with a ONE!! Previously, I
had had a nice rating solidly in the mid 9's for quite some weeks.
So if you have an extra
moment, feel free to stop by and give me a big fat TEN to return the world
to its proper order! ;-) Rate Maggie the Jackcat's Kick-Ass Fabulous Web
Site here.
I only have this to say to
whomever deliberately lowered my stats: you're assholes!
(She has such a charming way
about her, doesn't she? Haha.)
I have never tried to make
this the biggest, bestest AC site out there and don't feel the need to
compete with other sites. I have the site because it's fun for me and I
like doing it.
I do, however, protect my
work, which I invest a lot of my free time in, and will continue to do so
as long as I get enjoyment out of maintaining this site. Stuff like this
just makes me wonder why people have to go and be jerks. No, I don't think
people are broken. But some of them definitely could use a good smack
up-side the head! ;-)
Now STFU or go red! (I've
always wanted to say that!)
[Edited 2-18-01 My vassal
wrote to me suggesting that I edit my rant. He is so sweet to be concerned about me! After reading his
advice and careful consideration, I've edited the rant, but have decided
to leave it up.]

Patch day! Yay! It never fails. I always seem to have these endless
days at work every patch day! I did, however, pull together a patch page
with the generous help of Danier, Doogen's Mage, Lycius, Morat Dawnstrider,
Neobyte, and Ned Cleversun!
Eeeek! What's that? A little
mousie ran where??! ;-)
I'm sure you've seen them by
now, but if you haven't, check out my Lonely
In The World patch page for pics of the charming toys given to players
in apology for the recent rollback. Somebody's got to say it: they sure
are CUTE!!!! I hope to be putting together an animated .gif of that Ursuin
butt-waggle soon!
And that's not all! Tons of
new lore, great new quests, new spells, new dungeons and more. As
always, you can catch Ulgrim's sayings here
& the Town Crier's new rumors here.

There's plenty of room for adventure and romance in the land of Dereth,
in between all the fun of killing stuff! Happy Valentine's Day wishes from
Maggie the Jackcat, especially to my wonderful vassal, Ned Cleversun. I
still treasure my beautiful Gold Tachi with the BD III that you gave me
this past year.
Letters
updated! Thanks for all the great mail, and once again I apologize if I'm
unable to answer them all personally. The Inbox is overflowing, so I hope
to get more of them up on the site soon! Read questions on Potions,
Templates, Masks, Ice Balls and more!

Slowly but surely the Shopping section is filling out. Al-Arqas added
to the Vendor Rates page. All
Al-Arqas vendors have been added to the various Bargain
pages as well. Special thanks to Abe Ra'Ham from The Chosen of
Harvestgain for help with the Al-Arqas data.
The Beasties
page was also updated with stats of some of the creatures I've been
missing. Thanks to Danier, Chin-Pow of Morningthaw and Archer from Hell
for the info. Among the creatures added were Relic Bones, Cursed Bones,
Cursed Wisp, Sahoni Arsanc,
Dark Magus, Faisi Sclavus, Chomu Sclavus, and Lithos Raider. Stats
on a few of the Undead were also updated.

The reason for my slacker updating is finally revealed! I've been working
hard on the CoD
revamp with Allen and the gang. Yesterday was the launch, so be sure to
check it out. It's beeeyooootiful! The pic to the right is my favorite
skin -- the Magma Golem.
(Disclaimer: This site is not
affiliated with Crossroads Gaming Network. The opinions expressed on this site are my
own and do not necessarily reflect the opinions of Crossroads Network.)
So now that
that project is under control, I intend to get back to regular updates
here. To start things off, I've updated the Alchemical
Formulas page with information on making Infusions from Peas.
Even bigger
news! Ned Cleversun's loyalty reaches 147 -- the goalpost set by Danier
long ago! I finally raised my Arcane Lore high enough to be able to wear
my Leadership V Crown (with the assist on an Arcane Enlightenment IV
Bracelet and a Focus III Ring) to take better advantage of the outpouring
of Experience he generates. But even with that extra boost, Ned
Cleversun's level increases to 21 over mine. Congratulations on reaching
59!
And of course,
when Ned's Loyalty increases, his deaths do too. Up 48 to 907!
