Letters updated! Since it's the last day of
the month, this was my last chance to keep the July letters page from
being the most pitiful month of them all. You'll find about 3 updates
worth of letters, from quest questions and tips, to patch info, to a few
complimentary letters I tossed in to indulge myself, and a small sampling
of the reaction to Ned Cleversun's sermon on
hunting etiquette. Enjoy!

In case you haven't heard, servers are down! Visit the CoD
news page for updated information.
After reading the letters of
countless mages, saying, "don't forget us too!" I've started
filling out the Magic section.
Currently, the Item Spells have
been completed (up through level VI). More coming soon!

It's been a busy week for me, so haven't had time to do many updates.
I've updated a few more towns on the Vendor
Rates page and added some stats and pics to my Food
stats page, thanks to Danier and Suggardaddy's amazing Cooking skills!
Thanks also to Dras Bullneck
who sent a pic of Vulgarity of Leafcull posing with his Axe of the
Quiddity for the Lost in the New
Horizon event page!
July 23, 2001
Congratulations to my vassal on level 69! He's been a power-leveling
fool, trying to get to 70 so he can get Creature. I'm just points away
from level 46, so I am going to leave the level gap posted as-is for the
time being. ;-)
Thanks to Destructor of DT, I
have pics and stats of the Balister of the Quiddity (the XBow). You can
find it on the Lost in the New
Horizon patch page. I also buffed the credits for the patch, but
there are still more to come if you don't see your name yet. I got a *lot*
of mail while I was out of town. :)
Graydon of TD cashed in his supply of Black Rat tails to fill in another
missing item on the Crafters
& Collectors page. Looks like the Xarabaydun Bey gives either 250
or 200 pyreal, depending on the condition of the tail you turn in (in
other words, it's random)!
Thanks also to Mithan Kitara & Bane Grievver for stats on the Quiddity
Axe, to Bane Thunderstriker for pics & stats of the Black
Fire Atlan Mace, and to Prox for another location
for the Colban plant.

Major update to the Quest Section.
I get about a gajillion emails a week from people telling me that I'm
missing this write-up or that write-up, or could I please email them a
walk-through of such-and-such quest. Rest assured, I do know which quests
I haven't written up yet and they are "on the list." ;-)
I've gone ahead and made
place-holder pages for all quests which don't have full write-ups yet with
the stats of the quest items. Some have coordinates of pertinent
dungeons/landmarks, or extra details that I had readily on hand from some
of the patch pages.
In addition, I've reformatted
the Aerlinthe quest pages I wrote with the help of Damien Saren of the
Aerlinthe Report and put them up here. New pages include Aerlinthe,
Aerlinthe Map, (special
thanks to Soulitaire
for use of his wonderful map!) Aerfalle's
Keep, Sacrificial Dagger,
Black Fire Atlan Stone, SoLL
Fire Infusions & Ring of
the Watchman.

More updates to the Lost in the New Horizon
event page. Doogen poses in the Shackles of Obedience, Maethor poses with
a Dagger of the Quiddity, and several small typos and stat errors
corrected. Thanks also to Danier, for stats of the Quiddity Rift!
July 19, 2001
The Lost in the New Horizon
event page was updated with more great stuff from this month's patch.
You'll find Dirrich's Journal
and Apprentice's Guide to
Research. Thanks to Visago of Thistledown for the Fist of the Quiddity,
to Mithan Kitara for stats on the Axe of the Quiddity, Cylyria of Frostfell
for the Dagger
stats, and to E'zekial of Solclaim for the Spear of the Quiddity.
Dirty Rat of Harvestgain,
Gheres Reficul and flimsikk all added more great info on the Virindi
Quiddity crafters.
Thanks also to Graydon of Thistledown
for lots of great stats on the new critters, weapons, and dyes.
Kat Erindel of Morningthaw
sent creature stats, and Kinshi sent some great text on what Terese says
when you get 6 plants back instead of 1!
You'll aslo see Jawa Trader of
Morningthaw posing in a new Fletching Cap and Shaylen and Py Yun of
Frostfell posing in dyed crafted dresses.
I'll have to have more time to
update the names of all the people who sent info from the new patch,
especially all the info on the black dyes, so please forgive me if your
name is not yet mentioned. It will be soon!
Dyes
and Plant Location
pages were also updated.

Doogen & Danier explored the recently opened Shallow Rift Dungeon
and sent back a report, including a cool
map of the dungeon! Find out more, including info on Dirrich, the
Warden, on the Lost in the New
Horizons event page!
I'm still buried at work from
being out of town, but I hope to do a more thorough update of the patch
info tonight.

I'm back! And I only have this to say: IT WAS A TYPO!!!! ;-) hee hee.
I knew I was in trouble when I had four people tell me in person on my
first day in Boston for the ACPL this weekend that I had the wrong stats
on the Eye of the Quiddity. (Hey, it
was 4AM and I was trying to toss something up before heading out of town!)
I feared the Inbox on my return. Thanks to everyone who pointed
out the error. All 423 of you. (j/k) :)
Thanks to all of you, also,
for the great email you sent while I was gone. It's going to take me a day
or two to go through it all, but I'll try to update the site again as soon
as possible.
I know you're all dying to
hear about the Asheron's Call Player Luncheon. Here's the short version:
it was fun, Turbine r00lz, I need sleep. ;-)
I'll be posting a write-up
sometime in the near future with more details. For those of you who missed
it, don't despair! I have an exciting treat for you!! EXCLUSIVE
AC2 CONCEPT ART, direct from the offices of Turbine Entertainment
Software!! Whoo-hoo!
Here's hoping all of you who
couldn't make it this year can attend next year.

"Yes, violence for fun and profit!" Just a few words of
encouragement from Dereth's latest guide,
part of AC's July event!
Biggest news ever: purple dye
plants! Visit the Dyes page for
more info! And if anyone knows the secrets of that rumored Black Robe (I
saw a screen, I swear I did), I'd love to know.
New
Titles! New Weapons! New Island! New Creatures!! Shreth Poop! All this
and more on the Lost in the New
Horizon patch page. (spoilers!!!)
Ulgrim
the Unpleasant & Town
Crier Rumors updated.
Shadow Fragment pic was also updated on the Shadow
Armor page.
Purple dye!!!!!!
I think this just might be the
best patch ever!
Now it's time for me to pack
for the AC Player Luncheon. I'll be out of town through the weekend, but
please feel free to continue sending patch info to jackcat@spacestar.net
and I'll update the page when I get home!
July
11, 2001
I've put up my June
Newsletter for people to read while the servers are down.
I'll be leaving town Thursday AM for the Player Luncheon in Boston, so any
contributions towards a patch page tomorrow night will be greatly
appreciated. I'm not sure how much I'll be able to toss up, but I'll do
what I can. For screenies, please use the following email address: jackcat@spacestar.net.
Thanks!
Oh!! I almost forgot! I am
finally (and have been for several days, actually) Level 45!! Yipee! That
ole Lady Aerfalle better watch her bony ass. I am gonna kick it!
um... some day. *sigh* ;-)
Even bigger news! Ned
Cleversun widens the level gap even further. Level 68! I have to change my
front page again! :) Death total, as ever, lunges forward. Up 66 to
1196.
I also did some tweaking to Ned
Cleversun's section. We renamed his Essay to a Sermon. In the future,
any opinion pieces will fall under the Sermon category while Essays will
be reserved for expository writing about the game. Tips will remain
tips!
July
10, 2001
My vassal went through my recent updates with a fine tooth comb and
sent me 16ish emails pointing out all my careless typos and speling
misteaks! I have corrected them all! :)
Letters
section updated!
I did some tweaking to the Arm,
Mind, Heart quest thanks to Henry Kissinger of Thistledown and Korgan
al-Penju of Darktide, including updating the Spear of Purity stats.
The Crafters
& Collectors page got yet another tweak as I moved a few things
around. I hope this helps to clear up any confusion about who takes what.
Beasties updated again with stats for a
few of the newer Zefirs from the Vesayen Isles! Thanks very much to Jake
the Dog of Harvestgain for the Zefir info. Thanks also to Judicator of
Darktide for the info that Obsidian Shards can also be found on Pristine
Dolls.
More Vendor
Rates updated. The list is still moving right along, thanks to Arydria of
Morningthaw, Brother Lunk, Mary Magdalene, and especially Zalii of
Frostfell! Just in time for the update on Wednesday when they're sure to
all change again! (just kidding, I made that up!)
July
8, 2001
Thanks to Arydria of Morningthaw, Brother Lunk and Zalii of Frostfell,
the Vendor Rates updating is
moving right along.
Also, a new essay from my
vassal! Read Ned's Cleversun's Highly
Controversial Views About Hunting Etiquette in the Ned
Cleversun's Sermons, Essays & Tips section.
Thanks to Jaguar for stats of
the Shendolain Crystal and the Shendolain Satellite Fragments. I've added
them to the Beasties page.
Updated the Crafters
& Collectors page with a few miscellaneous items. Kackerdoom
reports that the Dryreach Tumerok Collector does not give xp, and the
Eastham Wing Collector likewise doesn't for Gold Wasp Wings. They both
still give money. And in case you were wondering (like I was), Stone
Collectors give you NOTHING for an Obsidian Golem Heart. *cry* ;-)
July
5, 2001
Quest Section updated with Tibri's
Fire Spear, including a few
screenshots of the quest. Special thanks to Nayt al-Yad for some
initial research, my vassal Ned Cleversun for letting me borrow
Reefer Madness (one of his mules) to do this level 10-20 quest, and to
Magellan, for keeping things safe as I recovered my third corpse!
I've also updated a few more
towns in the Vendors Rate
section and added a missing NPC or two.
July
3, 2001
Letters updated with some truly fabulous
information on the Lyceum Training Ground, the Baron's Amulet quest, the
Quiddity Orb, info on pumpkins and a word on fashion. In addition to the
great letter Doogen wrote on the Lyceum, he also included a map
of the Training Grounds. Thanks Doogen!!
July
2, 2001
I made a mention in my latest newsletter, but if you missed the news, CoD
is back and better than ever. Yay! I missed that Magma Golem skin. :)
I've added a mish-mash of miscellaneous items that people have sent
recently. Thanks to Fractal for Virindi Observer stats and to Chi Vu
Yung for Nomad My-miyah stats. You can see them on the Beasties
page (takes a minute to load).
Xi Lui of Thistledown sent me a pic of the Pulsating Wisp Heart for my Crafters
page, which was great because I've heard wisps no longer drop them!
Hikawa Kawai reports that
Small Niffis shells are also dropped by Listris Niffis and Matthew the
Hawk filled out the missing Spine reward by sacrificing his Island Spine
to a collector. He received a Potion of Healing in return. I also added
the Obsidian Golem heart Samuel A. sent me quite a while ago!
Last, Sanouske of Damonarchy sent a pic of the Glowing Virindi Cloak for
the Singularity Quest.
Thanks to everyone for helping to fill in some missing data!
Yellow Pages updated with the new
URL of Splitpea, and June New Stuff
archived.
I've also started the process
of updating the Vendor Rates
page. Starter towns all sell at 135% and buy at 90%. Wilderness Vendors
sell at 155% and also buy at 90%. If anyone wants to take on horrible
boring monotonous tedious task of surveying a town or two (I make it sound
so fun, I know!), send me an email
and I'll give you instructions on the kind of data I need.
