- Petition for AC1
Expansion Pack
- NEW! Maggie,
As you know, Jessica at ACPL suggested the players of AC1 to start a
petition to get and expansion pack rolling. We'll ... someone did!
Here is the link.
http://www.petitiononline.com/acxpack/petition.html
Please post it on your site and it was great to finally meet you at ACPL!
Thank you and keep up the great work!
Sushimoe

It was great to meet you too! As always, the ACPL was fun, fun, fun!!
Thanks very much to you, and to the many others, who sent the link to
the expansion pack petition. I'm all for it!

Lockpick Updates
Maybe, for some people like me at least,
you could show how to make those fab keyrings --
stats required, components needed, etc. And could
you get lockpick under the Arts and
Crafts section?
Thanks a lot.
Pablo
P.S. This is probably the best AC related page I've ever seen in 2-2.5
years, keep up the good work.
Hi Pablo
-
Yes! I can! I'm in an accommodating mood tonight. And I always aim to
please the fans.
Hee hee. Well, ok, I admit that these
suggestions are already on the list!! I've had a mostly finished keyring
page sitting on the ever crowded "To Do" list ever since they came out.
My plan is to finish that section up when I revamp Tinkering after the
changes next patch. Right now I'm still working on the Sports and Pets
updates and, as always, Quests. You wouldn't believe how snippy some
people get over the fact that I haven't completely documented every last
single detail of every single quest in the game for them!
You
may have noticed that I've already added a link to the Arts & Crafts
page in the Hobbies section. I don't know why I put it in Shopping in
the first place and I've long thought it should be moved. (I think I was
thinking something along the lines of visiting galleries, and going to
craft fairs and so forth.) I was happy with Lockpick in Shopping until
the addition of Mnemosynes, and with the new keyrings, I think it's
finally earned its place under Arts & Crafts. Yes, I know my
categorization is a mystery to many, but it's all part of the charm! ;-)

- Wonderful Changes
to Daggers Page
Wonderful changes to Dagger page! But... along
with max damage/bonuses could you also please include best variance as
this may vary as well?
Gouru
Hi Gouru -
Yes! I can! See? Completely accommodating mood this
evening.
If you could
please
just compile the complete list for me and send me an email, I'll be
happy to add it!
(Heh. I never fail to amuse
myself.)
All kidding aside, it's on
the list! And as many times as I've used that tired old joke, I actually
*got* one of those emails in my Inbox this morning from a friendly
player named boneyard! It's not complete, but it's a great start. I'll
be adding the info to the sports pages as I'm able.

- ACPL - Why are
Euro's ignored?
I know you like the ACPL and you enjoy it,
but spare a thought for us European players. Turbine and Microsoft are
happy to take our subscriptions but the game provides no European
support. I would think that they could hold some kind of European event.
There are quite a few Euros who play whom I am sure would like to meet
the people at Turbine.
I know you like the Devs and people at Turbine so this letter may not
get published. But I hope it does because I think there is a legitimate
complaint here for us Euros.
As ever still a fan of your site one of the first places I visit on
Patch Day if not the first.
Rivan II of WE
Level 90 Sword
Hi
Rivan II -
Why are Euro's ignored? Because Ken Karl hates you.
Just kidding!!
I'm sure it has to do with time and money and the fact that all the Devs
are in Boston. That'd be a big commitment of resources and it's probably
not in the budget. The ACPLs really are great fun!! A few European
players have made it in previous years, but I know it's too expensive
and difficult for most. A European ACPL would be cool. I'd be tempted to
go! Some of my favorite online friends are European players.
So
yes, you're right that's hard on the Euros. But you're wrong about one
thing: I only like *some* of the Devs.
Kidding!! Kidding!! ;-) I think I'm getting a little punchy!
Now,
I'm off to finish the laundry and packing. My flight leaves tomorrow!
I'm sorry you can't make it, but I'll try and take lots of pics.

- 2003 Is A Fine
Year To Be Living
Hello, Maggie. I've just been reading
your letters page. They are, as usual, fine and entertaining. They also
induce a certain, er, nostalgia for the good old days of November, 2002.
That is because they were written in November 2002. As I said, fine
material!
I propose some NEW letters! How about April, 2003?? I'm sure that in
some nook or closet there is a steadily growing pile of April emails
accumulating! I betcha many of them are absolutely funny and
fascinating.
Hey, are we going to the ACPL this year?
Ned Cleversun of TD
Level 98 Archer/Mage
Hello, my wonderful vassal!
Look! All your incessant nagging and pestering and wheedling and whining
has finally paid off. I am updating my Letters section! Your email was
also a little, er, nostalgia inducing, but I thought it'd be a fine one
to get back into the groove with. It has an added benefit of showing
people that I'm serious when I say because of the volume of mail I
receive, I cannot give personal responses. See? I don't even answer my
own vassal's email! ;-)
And not to worry about all
the missing months! I will be filling them in over time. I already have
a nice batch from December 2002, selected and ready to go. It will be
fun! A walk down memory lane!
Yes, we are going to the
ACPL. I'm sorry to tell you, however, that the LARP (Live Action Role
Playing) has been canceled due to lack of interest. *sigh* Now no one
will get to see you dressed up like Ulgrim. You looked so cute waving
your mug of stout around, ranting about the Virindi!!!

- Last Night's Dirk
Sorry I had to bugger out last night towards the
end of the quest. I just wanted to let you know that you can make it
through the room of rolling balls WITHOUT jumping on the platforms.
I went back to the dungeon this morning. In the room of rolling death,
run over and stand UNDER the first platform on the left that causes all
of the balls to explode. Just hang there until you feel comfortable with
where the ball spawn, and how they roll, and run straight across into
the portal.
I made it once and thought I was lucky, only to find out that my jump
wasn't high enough for room two. Being the mage I am, I had a bow, but
no arrows. I promptly recalled out grabbed some arrows and did it a
second time. So I'm fairly confident in saying that it can be done
consistently; if I did it twice without a death, any could learn how!
One other thing I didn't see listed. In the room after the rolling
balls, there are arrows that continually hit you. My personal suggestion
would be to buff up before doing the rolling balls of death, and be
ready to whip out that bow and arrow! ;-)
Dumbledore of TD
Level 126 Mage
Hi Dumbledore -
Thanks for the great info. For a quest whose most ferocious opponents
are a spinning puzzle box and a stationary target, that certainly was
one heart-pounding nerve-wracking adventure! I couldn't believe it when
I made it across the platforms over the rolling balls of death and
through the Eagle's Sight portal. Thank heavens for the hours Danier
patiently spent with me in Artifex Vault teaching me how to jump, after
my numerous embarrassing attempts at the Major Smoldering Stone.
Nonetheless, I still panicked and dumped 40 points into my Jump skill
right on the spot after watching one person after another get crushed
flat as a pancake right before my eyes. Your fellow Dumbledore has died!
Your fellow Dutchess of Windsor has died! Your fellow.... It just went
on!!
As Pick al-C said after
making it through, "Can you believe it? My hands are shaking!"
Harrowing, to be sure. But holy moly, that was fun!!

- Gratitude
Hi Maggie!
I just wanted to say thanks to you for all that you do for the players
of AC.
I recently purchased AC:DM for myself and my lovely wife. We love the
game, but aside from the newbie quests, a lot of the game was a mystery
not easily cracked by a couple of ol' farts like ourselves. After
joining a 'guild' (Knights Who Say Ni!), we quickly learned that the
best place for information was your site. Quickly I learned to find a
vast amount of information about the game here, both big and small in
detail. Each day at work I study the site's many pages to look for what
my wife and myself can quest for later that night.
You have poured so much of your energy into this site, and while I'm
sure you get praise from many of your in-game friends, I just wanted you
to know that the new players (yes, many still are buying it for the
first time) of AC truly truly truly appreciate what you do, and thank
you for the effort you put forth. Keep up the good work, and even though
the game may be old or burnout has arrived for many, this site is needed
more than ever by us new folks.
You're very kind and generous with your time, so it was the least I
could do to send you a thank you. We luv ya kiddo, you rock!
Rommy Ranger of SC
Knights Who Say Ni!
Level 45 Tank Archer
Hi Rommy Ranger -
Welcome to Dereth!! Thank you so much for your letter. I don't know how
much of the site you've read so far, but you'll eventually discover that
I love this kind of mail. In my book, there's no such thing as too
much praise. I just lap it up! ;-)
I'm glad you and your wife
are enjoying the game, and glad you're enjoying the site. I promise not
to tell your boss that you're reading it while on the job!! ;-)
