November 29, 2000 - New Emote?

Wanted to tell you I LOVE your site, keep up the good work!

This is not something I discovered, but rather was told about.  How to do a "back-flip" emote.  Start by making a snow angel and then hit the space bar to jump.  It goes rather quick, but you do a back flip.  This info was from a character on Leafcull by the name of "Vagabond at Heart".  I told him/her that I would spread the word.   :-)  Thanks!

Hi Het -

Thanks for the info! I can't wait to try it out. I learned a similar trick recently where you jump in the middle of the *YMCA* emote. You'll be able to around with sparkles flying out behind you. It's very festive! Catri taught me. And thanks for the compliments on the site! I appreciate it.

November 29, 2000 - Componant and Pea / Bargains Page

Hi there -

Love the webby - lots of Info and easy to navigate :) i.e. "Always scope the Jackcat if you want the answer to your Question!"

Just to pass on the names of the Aluvian and Gharu'ndim "Master Mages." Both have Identical Inventorys to Mayoi "Tired Mage" but sell the "Master Robe Variants" Prices are the same.

Aluvian is called Celdiseth, Coords are 86.6N 21.6E North of Neydisa

Gharu'ndim (not sure of name) is at 40.8S 11.9E South of Al-Arqes

But you knew this already lol.

Hi Reslk -

Glad you like the site! Thanks for passing the info on about the inventory of the other Master Mages. I was just up at Celdiseth's Cottage the other day, getting myself a nice Item Master Robe! I added Celdiseth to the Vendor Rates page already and will be updating the bargains section soon. Your letter will save me a trip to the Gharu'ndim mage. I appeciate the info!

What do Island Armoredillo Spines do? I cannot find anything about this. Would you please let me know ? Thank you so much! ^_^

Hi gigi si -

The Island Armoredillo Spines can be given to a Trophy Smith for a Fine Spine Axe. Stats are as follows: Value 2000, Burden 675, Damage 7-14 Slashing, Speed (40).

It's now also possible to make Fine Armoredillo Hide shirts as well (from a hide, of course!), with an AL of 130! Hope that helps!

November 29, 2000 - Prove It!

Maggie, thanks for the effort you and your contributors put forth on this great site. Helps keep me informed of new and interesting news.  One last question, I  have heard rumors to the effect that you're a true babe.  Any truth to these rumors?  If these rumors are true, uh (kick dirt with his toe) could you prove it? ;)

Hi Onehunglo -

Made me laugh. Thank you for the nice things you've said about the site! As to whether I am a true babe, well, I certainly like to think so! ;-) I've posted this link before, but here it is again: see for yourself!

November 29, 2000 - Ex-Post Facto Encouragement

Hello, Maggie.
I thought I'd send along my encouragement for the wonderful work you've done on this site;  I consider it far and away my favorite AC site in the world.  :-)  So, please don't let a few thick-skulled morons get you down!  The rest of us love you (and probably know better than to risk your ire by stealing your work, but that's another matter...).

Thanks for the great work.

Hi Russano -

Thanks very much for your kind words. As much fun as I have mocking people who copy my work, I think it's much more fun to actually play the game or update my web site! Dealing with things like this is more of a time eater than anything. So, as annoying as it is, they haven't gotten me down yet!

Hey, how 'bout that election?! ;-)

- Maggie the Jackcat (still OBSESSED!)

The following series of letters refer to another case of a site lifting my content and passing it off as their own. They even went so far as to put their own copyright notice on my pages! I have a form letter I send out about once or twice a week (a little less often since the site got more popular) asking sites to remove my content. In almost every instance, the response is, "I'm sorry, I didn't realize, I'll remove it right away." Occasionally, I'll run into a less pleasant attitude. My first public run-in was, of course, with PCPunks. In that case, the situation was a bit different; it was done unintentionally and we resolved it quickly and with little bloodshed! ;-)

Other battles, though, have proved to be less pleasant, as many of you know. I haven't really mentioned some of the more recent incidents on the site because I figured most people would like to read about fun things, not the boring tedium of the back-end crap work. But then, I thought, why should I discriminate against EpiK?! All offenders should get the benefit of my public scorn! Ha. Actually, the reason I'm mentioning this latest incident with the Ftuoils is because there were unintended consequences to our disagreement.

When the Ftuoils refused, quite unpleasantly, to remove my content, their host, ACSage, stepped in immediately and shut them down. The Ftuoils then started a thread on Asheron's Lore to say nasty things about me. Several people, reading the thread, mistakenly took my disagreement with the Ftuoils to be a disagreement with ACSage! When ACSage was down for server maintenance recently, some even thought that I, or other sites, had taken legal action against them to have ACSage shut down!

Nothing could be further from the truth. I'd just like to take this opportunity to publicly thank ACSage for their quick response to my request and to clear up any lingering misinformation. It's a sign of their professionalism and integrity that they recognize how vital it is to the AC community that original content be protected. Their complete unwillingness to host content taken from other sites is praiseworthy. So deepest thanks once again to Kadran and Fizzle and the other members of ACSage. I had a high opinion of your site before this incident, and have an even higher one now.

Ftuoil Debacle

I just thought I'd pass along to you what kind of support and appreciation you have in the AC community. Here's a link to a thread on Asheron's Lore started by Ftuoil XelRash.

I think you do great work and I'm pleased to see how many of my fellow poster's at AL agree.

We appreciate the resources you provide for us and the fairminded opinions you've espoused in the past. I don't agree with every word you say, but you're opinions are always well thought out. Besides, where would the fun be in everyone agreeing.   :o)

Thanks again! Have a great day...

November 20, 2000 - Jerks

Just wanted to drop you a note and let you know that I'm 100% behind you. Your site has been a veritable treasure of information, not just for quests but for anything I could possibly want to know about AC. The jerk posted on Asheron's Lore and everyone there, to a person, jumped to your defense and flamed him off the board. Please keep up the good work.

We're With You Maggie

We heard through the offending party (http://ftuoils.acsage.com/) that someone has/had copyrighted your quest material, again. We, the Posters of Asherons Lore would like to extend our full support. The offender started a thread badmouthing you on AL, but within 5 minutes, we had shut him down. If you'd like to see a nice little flaming session, go look at it here.

Hi Dathlic Naradum -
I can't tell you how  thrilled I was to get your mail. I had *just* sent my vassal the URL of the Ftuoils site, so he could read the screed against me and have himself a good laugh. He wrote me back that the link wasn't working for him, and I thought it was all lost forever; those ACSage guys are efficient!

But I am so lucky! FX posted the entire thing on ACLore, so he got to read it after all. :) You'll like what Ned Cleversun had to say about it!

------(clip)------
It's really quaint, almost. The guy objects, apparently, to the concept of copyright itself. Because, I guess, books and movies and magazines and web sites that use ENGLISH are using a tool that belongs to us all. And because the tool cannot be copyrighted so the works created by the tool cannot be copyrighted. What's wrong with this picture? Ah-ha! The picture contains a moron!
------(clip)------

Thanks to all of you for rallying to my defense! It was a fun read, for sure. I appreciate it. :) The guy can't be all bad, though. He actually wrote to me yet again, and said I was hot. Hahahaha.

November 20, 2000 - Shadow Armor Crafters

Hello Maggie!

I have been a long-time reader of your site and have occasionally conversed with your lovely vassal Ned about archery (Hi Ned!) Your site is quite wonderful and I recommend it to everyone I know!

I really don't know how you find the time... I have a few stories published at my website which I update about once every few months: http://freespace.virgin.net/black.star/purple/ac.html
But it is really nothing to compare to your fabulous site :)

Anyway the real point of this letter is to ask you to update the coordinates for the Shadow Armor Crafters. I know it says "they are now by the lifestones" but would it be possible to put in the exact coords? I can tell you that Jibril ibn Rashid is actually at 7.1N, 3.0E in Al-Jalima.

I know this because I ran to the coords I read from your site clutching my scintillating gem and discovered my crafter wasn't there! This was potentially disastrous on Darktide (especially because CoD also has the wrong coords) but thankfully, I found him eventually and got my gorgeous pants. Now to save up for the top!

Thank you very much for your time and keep up the great work!

Cheers,

Alice

Hi Alice -

It's nice to hear from you. Ned has mentioned you several times before and it was fun to read a little bit about your characters in AC. I've updated the Al-Jalima and the Kara coords. I still need to verify the Eastham coords. Thanks for the reminder and congratulations on your pants! Thanks, also, for the nice things you said about the site. I never tire of hearing it. :)

November 20, 2000 - Lesser Shadow Celdon Armor

I noticed you didn't have the stats on the Lesser Shadow Celdon Armor listed.  The base AL is 110 for all pieces.  With any stone AL increases to 130.  The burden and protects are the same as the other shadow armor.  Hope this help

Yes, that certainly does help! Slowly, but surely, the page is getting more and more complete. Thanks for passing the info on. I appreciate it!
