I
just love Halloween! Masks were introduced during October
2000's Hollow Victory
update. Original masks included the Mosswart, Drudge, Skeleton, Tusker,
and Banderling Masks. A special Virindi Mask was also introduced which
could made into striking heritage masks by three new mask makers (see
tables to the right).
Alexander the Deft tells you, "Hello, I am Alexander the Deft. If you give me a creature's head or facial covering, I may be able to make it into a mask for you."
Janda Sulifa tells you, "Did you know there is a ceremonial mask for each culture? I so long for the day that I can make a ceremonial mask of my own!"
Tsua Kagemata tells you, "Greetings to you on this fine day. I am Tsua, mask maker of no small ability. If you provide me with a creature's head or facial covering, I will make it into a mask that will allow you to participate in Oseth's celebration."
During
the Hollow Victory event, the Olthoi Helm was also updated with a new, scary
look! To receive one of the new helms, simply hand your old one to a mask
maker. Creature masks
were seasonal -- available for that month only. The heritage
masks (and the Skeleton Mask), however, remain permanently in the game and
are
available year round. In
the 2001 October event,
The
Widening Gyre, masks returned, even better than before! New creature
drops were added: Ursuin, Zombie, Sclavus, and Pumpkin Heads, plus a Doll
Mask which could be traded in for an Inviso Mask, sure to make you lose
your head! A new set of beautiful heritage masks also became available,
made from the previous month's Virindi Inquisitor's Mask. A final mask,
the Virindi Director's Mask (a reward from the month's major quest),
rounded out the newest headgear. Subsequent events have seen even more
masks added to game!
To make a
Creature Mask, take your trophy head to one of the Mask Makers.
The
Virindi Masks
are made by Leopold in Ayan Baqur (59.2S, 88.3W).
To make the special
Heritage Masks, give the Virindi Masks back to one of the mask makers.
Alexander the Deft returns the Aluvian style mask; Janda
Sulifiya returns the Gharu'ndim style mask; and Tsua Kagemate
gives you a Sho style mask.
Other masks are available from quests. See the
Quest
Masks page for details!
Many players enjoy combining their masks with
