Currency
The basic currency of Dereth is the pyreal. Pyreal can be carried in stacks of 10,000 (changed from 5,000 in the Castling event). Pyreals used to be heavy to carry, so Trade Notes were a preferable method of carrying money. Trade notes cost 15% of the face value to purchase and may be cashed in at any vendor. When you die, you will always lose 1/2 the pyreal you are carrying; you will never lose Trade Notes on death. Pyreal used to have burden, but it experienced a substantial decrease, down to 0! Dereth is full of wonders! The three larger trade notes were added during the Repercussions event and Trade Notes became stackable during the Discoveries event.

Trading and Exchange Rates
The economy in Dereth is in constant flux! In addition to pyreal and trade notes, items in the game, such as SIKs (Sturdy Iron Keys), motes, shards and fragments, are often used as currency and are traded heavily. Although values may vary per server, the following sites can be used for general information on trade values.

The Marketplace
The Marketplace was introduced during The Slumbering Giant event to give players and trade bots a plce to sell and trade items. It's the bustling center of commerce on Dereth! To reach the marketplace, use the /marketplace (or @marketplace) command and you'll be transported there.
Shopping Bags
There are 5 basic types of containers, in addition to your main pack: Baskets, Belt Pouches, Sacks and Packs. You can carry up to 7 packs in your inventory. To help you keep track of which pack contains which items, many people purchase packs in different colors. The longer you play, the more you may find that pack space is an increasing need! You'll begin to collect many no-drop, no-give items!! Most advanced players will use packs exclusively because of the larger capacity. Baskets will tend to be reserved for gift packages. During the Castling event, Foci was introduced as an alternative to carrying spell components. Foci take up a pack space for each magic school. You can choose to use comps the old fashioned way and to forego foci. For suggestions on organizing spell components in your main pack, see Ned Cleversun's Tip.

Tusker Packs
During The Widening Gyre event a new type of pack became available -- the Tusker Pack! Pack sizes vary, dependent on the brain size of the deceased Tusker. ;-) To get a Tusker Pack give a Tusker Mask to one of the Mask Makers. (You must have a pack slot open). You only have a random chance to receive a Pack in exchange. You may also get a Tusker Wand in return. And you may simply get nothing.

This tusker was a veritable genius, judging by the size of it's [sic] cranium. It's a good thing you stopped it from breeding, or thier [sic] might have been a whole new breed of Tusker...

Banderling Backpacks
During the Visions in the Darkness event yet another festive pack style was introduced -- the Banderling Backpapk! By giving a Collector a Banderling Scalp (Slayer, Aggressor, Antagonist, or Predator) you'll receive a Tusker Token and xp in return.  Give the token to Yakara Miko the Collector in Candeth Keep in exchange for a backpack! Make sure you have a pack slot open first!!

Collector tells you, "The scalps of these Banderlings are fairly large and easy to work with. I've found a fair trade with a local tailor. A few hole punches and stitches and they are able to craft a fine looking backpack from the scalp. I'll give you a token until you have enough room to carry one."

You give Yukara Miko the Collector [Banderling Type] Token.
Yukara Miko the Collector tells you, "You're in luck. I was able to procure a few of these backpacks from the tailor. Carry it with pride!"
Yukara Miko the Collector gives you Banderling [Type] Backpack.
